Remember when I was complaining about the heat ? Forget all that. It's been strangely cold all week. I'm not sure what that's all about, but it is annoying.
Meanwhile, the members of the binnallofamerica.com message board, the United States of Esoterica, have been hounding me to promote the board more, so I figured right here @ the top of "the binnall report" would be a good place to do so. theusofe features a wide variety of areas for discussing a host of topics, ranging from esoterica, esoteric radio, binnallofamerica.com columns, features, and audio, along with discussion areas for the various forms of popular entertainment (TV, Film, Books, and Music). Also, theusofe features THE VAULT, an exclusive area for members only that features inside news, column previews, and special bonus stuff that is exclusive to theusofe.
How do you find theusofe ? Well, that's simple, go here : www.theusofe.com. Membership is free, I hope you stop by and check it out.
But before you go, we've got some bidness to take care of. The kids on the street call it "tibber", a slang term derived from the initials "tbr", which stands for "the binnall report". Yes, it's your weekly dose of Coast to Coast AM observations from the Clown Prince of Esoterica.
The Week That Was
I'll confess ... this was an even busier week than last week, so my C2C time was limited to say the least. I also had a co-worker in my midst and there is nothing more annoying than listening to Coast with a non-listener. I think this was the last of the weeks where I couldn't listen to much Coast. As such, my review of the past week will be lacking in its usual thoroughness.
However, there was still plenty I caught, so let's get to gutting what I did reel in for the week. We begin where we left off last weekend, which was Noory welcoming Linda Moulton Howe back to the show to talk about Deep Impact. Pretty decent stuff from LMH and she even managed to do what no one else has done before ... no, not get Deep Impact data, but silence RCH, who seems so enveloped in her findings that he's gone under the radar, save for one brief appearance last week. Kudos, LMH.
Also, our old friend Big Tom Biscardi, who is no doubt making a run for C2C Regular of the Year in this year's Coasties, showed up to amend his earlier prediction of a Bigfoot capture. You may recall that on 8.10.5, Biscardi said he'd have Bigfoot "in 2 weeks". However, a mere two days later he shows up on Coast to say he'll have Bigfoot "next week", shaving a full week off of his prediction.
A bold statement of certainty that Bigfoot was near at hand ? I doubt it, considering that it is now "next week" and there is no sign of a captured Bigfoot. Big Tom, you've done it again. I expect he'll show up again tonight, but we'll discuss that in The Week That Is.
Saturday Night Punnett was a hilarious adventure on Saturday as Ian Punnett welcomed Jeff Nyquist and Wade Queen in the 1st Hour to talk about Russians and Al Qaeda. This was a fantastic hour, full of shadowy intrigue, vague assumptions, and a redneck who barely got to say a word. I highly suggest reading my weekly missive "Saturday Night Punnett" for my blow-by-blow breakdown of this hour.
In short, they allege that Al Qaeda was created and is controlled by the Russians. Think bizarro Alex Jones. Wade was a likeable redneck who, of course, barely got to say anything as his partner, Jeff, was a rapant Commie hater and wouldn't shut up for most of the hour. Wade did, however, join the annals of C2C Bad Predictions for predicting that tense times would come to a head on 8.17, this past Wednesday. Ian seemed skeptical and rightfully so, as nothing happened. I really liked Wade, despite this lapse in judgement, though it sounds like he was jumping on the Nuke Drill bandwagon that everyone else was riding.
The rest of Saturday night was spend with Dr. Fred Bell. Unfortunately for Bell, I didn't have a chance to tune in for the bulk of his episode. The bits and pieces I caught sounded halfway decent, but nothing to make me sit up and listen. From the looks of it, it was a mix of nukes in America talk and some talk of consciousness.
Sunday was a rebroadcast of the Michael Horn interview from 3.7.2004 where he pushed Billy Meier on us. Here is the Coastie review of it from right after it aired :
While not the rare appearance of Mr.Meier himself, Horn, who is billed as the legitimate US Meier spokesman, represented the Meier story strongly. The rare 4 hour interview consisted of one half detailing the Meier story, warts and all. Sadly, the second hour dangerously teeterd on banality as Horn delved into the usual predicted apocalypse.
Thankfully, when open lines busted open, the first caller was a debunker known only as "Vaughn". The next 20 minutes consisted of Horn and "Vaughn" arguing, debating, and challenging one another while Bell sat on the side attempting to mediate the battle. Bonus Points for Horn's attempts to "get his powerpoint going", a strange mix of confusing, stammering, and half answers that annoyed and amused.
Monday, The Noor walked like an Egyptian with Stephen Mehler, talking about Egyptology and secret societies. I dug Mehler's appearance, but I wasn't totally blown away. First of all, alleging that the Egyptians built the pyramids is akin to alleging that we faked the Moon Landing, in my mind, so I took some points off there for him. He seemed likeable, but the wheels weren't turning on this one.
I had a hard time really in understanding just what his "theory" was. It seemed more like a riff session between he and Noory without ever really having any direction. Also, I was a tad annoyed that the spent so much time talking about how his phone kept cutting out. Yes, I get it, it's weird.
Tuesday, Noory welcomed first R.Gary Patterson for a 1st hour discussion on Elvis, since it was the anniversary of his death. Total disclosure : I skipped this hour. I've never been a big Elvis fan. I may try and catch it again on the flip side when I have time and am interested in something esoteric and light.
Full show Tuesday was a doozy. "The Bad Man" of Ufology, Colin Bennet lived up to his name with a riotous appearance, purportedly to talk about UFO's in the 1950's. Colin had me in stiches from the get go as he rambled endlessly, despite Noory trying to ask the same question three times ! Hearing Noory ask the question and then hearing Colin no-sell it and repeating the process thrice was one of the funniest things I've heard on C2C in a long, long time.
On top of that, Colin had the best laugh I've heard on Coast in very long time. Shades of Thurston Howell III or Mr. Magoo, this laugh was long, loud, and raucous. It also happened over and over again. This one Noory no-sold after the first few times as Colin seemed to burst into laughter at the end of one of his rambling spiels.
Since the episode aired, there has been rampant speculation that Colin was appearing on C2C "in no shape to perform". I've not listened to the tapes carefully enough to ascertain whether Colin was indeed "in the bag", but I'm swayed into the negative when I consider that he was in the UK and thus it was very early in the morning there. (6 AM-ish, I think) For Colin to be wasted that early in the morning is a frightening concept. Remember, kids, there's a fine line between drunk and English. Some confuse them from time to time. Yet, there is also that odd habit that Colin had of rambling endlessly, being barely coherent, and drifting from the original topic of 1950's UFO stuffs.
Along with all that, we have the proverbial smoking gun that is Noory cutting the interview short to two hours. Therefore, I'd say there was some sort of mishap involved in this episode and it may very well be coming from Colin. If it smells like Kronenbourg 1664, we may be on to something. I will investigate this further and see what I can come up with.
By Wednesday, I knew my time listening to C2C was going to be limited, so had to pick and choose wisely. Sadly, I made a bad choice and picked Pat Boone's 1st hour appearance for my listening "pleasure". For the record, Boone talked about not one iota of Coast-worthy stuff, except for the fact that he almost died once. Otherwise, it was garbage, unless you like Pat Boone. Which I do not.
Scott Stephenson, weatherman / esoteric researcher, was the sad victim of my poor choice of Pat Boone and, therefore, I missed his appearance. I'm not a big weather buff, so it's no huge loss.
And, as is the case almost every Thursday lately, I missed the bulk of the Thursday ep., since I've been listening to C2C in the daytime this Summer. I did check out 1st hour guest, Michael Carroll, who brought some good stuff to the table regarding the mysterious Plum Island, a germ workshop run by the government that sounded like a real house of horrors. Carroll sounded like he did his homework on this one and it deserved a full episode appearance in the future. Despite teasing it, The Noor did not make an "Island of Dr.Nooreau" joke.
And, sadly, John Loftus fell by the wayside this afternoon as time ran out for me to listen to him before settling down to pen this week's "binnall report". I've heard varying degrees of criticism for his appearance, so it sounds like he did not endear himself to C2C's audience. I agree that he is a little to "straight laced" for Coast, but does manage to bring some decent stuff to the table. Then I see he made some insane claim about Roswell and my respect for him dovetails as well.
Seriously, I will be listening to more Coast from here on out, as my schedule will be resuming pre-Summer hours in the next week.
The Week That Is
Tonight, The Noor ends the week with Thomas Greanias as the Friday Night 1st Hour Pop-In. Greanias will be talking about his book Raising Atlantis, which is presumably about Atlantis. Could be interesting. Standard Open Lines follows.
I expect to hear from Big Tom Biscardi to update us on his camping trip ... ahem ... Bigfoot Expedition. I've enjoyed his insane predictions so far and am looking forward to another off-the-wall guess of when he will nab the Bigfoot. I will truly be sad when this thing ends, because it may end ugly. My prediction for Biscardi's prediction : "By the end of August".
Saturday night, C2C practically hands Ian Punnett a Coastie nomination on a silver platter with the one, the only, the absolutely, Steven Quayle talking about giants and UFOs. Yes ! For those of you out of the loop, Steve Quayle, the guy who shows up on C2C from time to time to rant about nukes in America, is also an expert on giants. In fact, his passion for giants makes his paranoia of terrorism look like nothing. Give Steve Quayle 3 hours to talk about Giants and UFOs unfettered and you've got yourself a magic 3 hours. Should Ian Punnett try and turn this into a discussion on Nukes in America, I will throttle him in this column next week.
Sunday night sees the return of our monthly friend, Art Bell, to interview Sir Charles Shults III to talk about Mars, aliens, and space elevators. Should be pretty good, as Bell has a nice repoire with Shults and Shults isn't afraid to get into esoteric stuff and stray from the mainstream.
Monday, The Noor kicks off the week with George Haas and William Saunders to talk about Cydonia. Wha ? A Cydonia episode not featuring Richard C. Hoagland ? I'm scared. This should be a good episode, as I've seen the guests' stuff around and it is decent. Also, hearing about Cydonia from someone other than RCH may shed new light on the "trick of light and shadows".
Tuesday, Noory interviews Charles Pellegrino to talk about odd happenings around Ground Zero and also stuff about Mount Vesuvius and the Titanic. Ugh. Um, could you maybe stick to one subject, Charles ? We're all over the map with this one. Could be good, could be awful, total wildcard here.
Wednesday, Mark Lerner stops by to talk Astrology with The Noor. A niche topic whose worth as an episode depends solely on the guest. If Lerner is original and has charisma, it will be good. Otherwise, expect generic stuff.
Thursday, C2C takes the bold step of having Eric Hufschmid on the show to talk about 911. Hufschmid has been the darling of the 911 Truth Movement for quite some time, so expect a barn burner of an episode. He'll also be tying 911 in with the Apollo program and the JFK Assassination. Wild. The best, on paper, episode of the week.
Friday, Standard Open Lines with a 1st Hour Pop-In.

Letter # 1 :
What do you think of Ian Punnett so far ?
Gene in Los Angeles, California I'd say so far IP has done a fair to middling job of hosting Coast. As many of my readers may know, I've been keeping an eye on Punnett, waiting for him to slip up so that I can give him a thrashing in the binnall report. However, Punnett has stunned me by doing a decent job as Saturday host so far. His Jason Martell interview was great, his 1st hour last week w. Wade and Jim was fantastic, his stuff with Glenn Kimball was awesome.
I think this week with Steve Quayle could be the breakthrough week for IP where he finally reclaims some valuable C2C street cred and achieves his first Coastie nomination of the year.
Letter # 2 :
Tim,
What is your favorite food and TV show ?
Kevin in Philadelphia, PA
Oddly enough, I was alluding to my favorite food and TV show in this past Monday's News Watch where I detailed how the power went out right as I sat down to have some pizza and watch Celebrity Fit Club. Lately, pepperoni pizza from Papa Gino's has been my ideal food of choice. I also enjoy pre-cut cheddar cheese squares from Cracker Barrel and New England Clam Chowder.
For entertainment, I barely watch TV, but Celebrity Fit Club has been my guilty pleasure of the Summer. I also enjoy the NBC version of "The Office", old News Radio episodes, and I live for Quincy M.E., finally available on DVD. For contemporary TV, I also like Survivor and Apprentice. I'm trying to get into "Lost" and will see if any of the new slate of Fall shows catches my eye.
Questions ? Comments ? Send them here : This Week in C2C History
8.19.2004 : UFO big wig, Timothy Good, direct from the UK, talked with The Noor about underground and underwater UFO bases. Solid episode, covering a host of stuff, including some great case files like, "a 1945 crashed UFO case that was witnessed by two boys in San Antonio, New Mexico, who saw "creatures like children" moving around quickly, before a military recovery of their craft." (credit : C2C Main Site)
8.19.2003 : Like a bad crotch rash, Seth Shostak emerged on C2C again in this tepid episode. He made this oh-so-scientific statement : "SETI doesn't target their radio telescope time on star systems such as Sirius or Zeta Reticuli because of stories or myths about aliens that hail from there. Rather, they use other criteria such as the age of a star system in making their selections." (credit : C2C main site) Silly Effort To Investigate indeed.
8.19.1999 : C2C was in full paranoia mode in a hilarious, in retrospect, episode with guest Gary North, discussing how to survive Y2K. At the time, this was probably a freaky episode with exchanges like this : "Art reads a fax from a listener who is a computer consultant who says most computers will fail. Art calls a number that gives recorded updates on the Y2K compliance of the government. Gary talks about tax organizations that are not compliant and the problems that will stem from that." End Notes
The end has arrived once again and the party bus must stop for now. I hope you enjoyed the ride. Don't worry about the vomit in the backseat, our interns will clean it up.
Plugs : Tomorrow, potential Coastie update and Hoags to Hoags AM update. Tomorrow night, late night, Saturday Night Punnett. SNP has picked up a lot of steam over the last few weeks, so stop by and check out the latest brainchild from BoA and find out what all the talk is about. Sunday, smoker dave fires it up with his unique observations of the world at large. Monday, News Watch featuring the soon to be infamous "Back to School" editorial. Tuesday, fresh off the critically acclaimed "Women of C2C" column, Lesley returns with another Grey Matters. I'm eagerly awaiting seeing what she has in store for us this week. Khyron resumes his quest for knowledge over the next few weeks and, thusly, will be halting "Ghost Files" until then. In his place will be the August BoA Flashback. This is a once a month look at a classic binnall article with fresh observations on how it all panned out. Thursday, Noory and friends return for Hot Newz, insane news so insane it can't be true. And, Friday, the binnall report brings the goods once again, ending another week with a bang.
Help Wanted : We are looking for 1 or 2 new columnists for BoA to expand our horizons, voices, and coverage. Contact yours truly for details if interested. Also, we are looking for someone to transcribe our BoA : Audio MP3s, starting with the X-Conference Sessions. This will require a fair amount of work and therefore will be a "pay by barter" gig. Contact yours truly for details on that as well.
And now, I must attend to my usual Friday evening chores before I settle in to watch the Red Sox game, broadcast late from California. Summer has like 2 weekends left, so enjoy them while you can. And, in the meantime, stop by www.theusofe.com for further adventures of binnall and the Creep Cabal.
