A delightful little sun shower just passed over the neighborhood and that "it just rained" smell permeates the air. I can't think of any better moment to unleash this week's "binnall report", your weekly recap and preview of Coast to Coast AM from the twisted mind of the clown prince of esoterica ... binnall.
Much thanks for those of you who sent your kind words regarding the death of the legendary hamster Nibbos last week. I am happy to report that his successor Nibbins is fine and dandy and enjoying his new home here at binnallofamerica HQ.
Twas a pretty good week of Coast with some interesting "moments" worth mentioning. A decent week ahead as we careen out of control into the final days of Summer. More teasing of stunning info in BoA : Audio, Season One, a jaunt down memory lane in "This Week in C2C History", binnall hears from a long lost relative in "binnall report mailbag", and we discover George Noory's new side job in "Hot Newz". You'd better sit down and relax, because this week's binnall report begins now.
The Week That Was
When we last left Planet Noory, The Noor was amped up for a packed Friday night that included, Douglas Hagmann for an all-too-brief update on the Al Qaeda threat that surfaced. Right behind him was Tom Biscardi for an update on his big Bigfoot Expedition. Big Tom predicted possible success for the upcoming Wednesday, remember that. Scott Marlowe popped in to talk about the Swamp Ape. And, of course, Richard C. Hoagland was all about the Shuttle with his 9th consecutive Noory C2C appearance. Zombie Open Lines followed, including Noory berating a little kid that was so funny, I listened to it thrice. A fine Friday edition of Coast that really showcased the venue from a number of angles.
Saturday Night Punnett was a double shot, first James McCanney to talk about a host of space news and then Rob Morphy talking about cryptozoology. McCanney was decent, but too compressed and too esoteric for a one hour shot. He tried to hit like a dozen different topics and it just didn't fly, except for his casual mentioning that John Denver, of all people, may have been assassinated ! That was worth the appearance alone and I'd rather if he'd started with that instead of finishing with it. Huge kudos to Ian Punnett for finding the Denver theory on McCanney's site and asking him about it, he saved an otherwise forgettable appearance.
I half-listened to Morphy and was sufficiently impressed. I liked how they discussed the less "famous" crypto beasts and didn't overdo the "big names". I'll have to give Morphy a more focused listen when I have the time. Big ups to C2C for their crypto guests, considering the scant number of folks they had on in 2004.
Sunday began what should be an odd little tradition, First of the Month Sunday Noory. It seems that The Noor will be stepping in every 1st Sunday of the month from now on. What is this, Rense ? Geez, find a 2 shot Sunday host already and give The Noor his weekends back. The women of LA will thank you.
Anyway, Noory hosted on Sunday and he had one of those C2C episodes that has a theme and guests pop in each hour or so while Hoagland acts as a sort of co-host to Noory. Not quite a roundtable, but not a "special" either. First, Hoagland finally produced his much hyped "surprise guest". I was holding out hope it would be George Takei of Star Trek fame, but unfortunately it was only Ken Johnston, a former NASA test pilot.
In all seriousness, Johnston was actually quite good and informative. Hoagland was Hoagland. Unfortunately, this being RCH's 10th consecutive Noory C2C appearance left me feeling a little Hoagied-out. So, I skipped out on Tim Ventura, who appeared in the 2nd half of the show to talk about anti-gravity. It sounds like it was pretty worthwhile, so it will go in the growing pile of MP3s that need to be listened to at some point.
Monday, The Noor was back in his comfortable weekday chair and welcomed Barry Taff, who only stuck around for the 1st hour of the interview, and David Oman, filmmaker, who were on to talk about the Tate Murders and Paranormal Investigation. I said last week if they discussed Manson stuff and not orbs it would be good and, thankfully, they did focus mainly on the grisly slayings done by one Charlie Manson. A fantastic episode for sheer creepiness and Oman had a likeable quality that made him fun to listen to. A nice change of pace from geopolitics and paranormal stuffs but within the esoteric confines that I like C2C to dwell.
Tuesday was a fun episode with Tom Biscardi popping in to the 1st hour and then Nancy Lieder as full guest. Biscardi extended the time when he would get the Bigfoot to 2 weeks, I believe. Noteworthy was Biscardi saying "hell" repeatedly until Noory chastised him with a "take it easy, we're on live radio." I nearly lost it there, it was so hilarious. You go, Noory.
As far as Biscardi is concerned, I'm still torn to shreds over the wacky bastard. Part of me wants the Bigfoot captured, no matter what. The other part hopes that it isn't Biscardi who does it. A 3rd part thinks this is a scheme and his "pay-per-view" website on the Bigfoot Expedition is carny genius. Another part sees a lot of Captain Ahab in him and I'm afraid he may burn down all of Happy Trail, or wherever the hell he is, trying to nab the 'Foot. This has been a saga, that's for sure.
Meanwhile, the full guest being Nancy Lieder to talk about her friends the Zetas and their Planet X fetish. Noory tried to play it smooth at first being all, "I don't know why people are saying I booted you. I never booted you." And Nancy was all, "Well, I appeared 4 times in 2003 and haven't appeared since, so I can see how people would think that." Anyone with any memory will remember that after the May 15th deadline came and went, Noory specifically said they wouldn't have her on again. I still think that was a huge mistake, but Noory and I will have to agree to disagree on that one. So Noory tried to coy about Nancy's banning, but we all know the truth, that Nancy was forced into C2C exile after her prediction fizzled out. Why they don't apply that same standard to Ed Dames and Sean David Morton is beyond me.
So it was old school Nancy Lieder talking about all the stuff she's been taught by the Zetas and then some classic "Zeta Talk" where she "channels messages from the Zetas", complete with a cb-radio-esque "And this is the end of Zeta Talk" at the end of every diatribe. If you haven't heard this, it is awesome for it's sheer goofiness. I've heard tons of folks bash on poor Nancy all week, but I'm a fan as long as C2C limits her airtime. Yes, the majority of the stuff she says is babbling nonsense, but it is entertaining in small doses. And this is the end of binnall talk.
Tuesday was also historic as it was the final night in the now-legendary 12 episode run of one Richard C. Hoagland. Yes, I promised a column on this for binnallofamerica.com last weekend, but I was far too busy. It still may arrive at some point soon. But, for now, we must salute RCH for the sheer insanity of appearing in 12 consecutive Noory hosted C2C episodes. Kudos, Hoagie, kudos. Now, please, go away for a while till you are entertaining again. (Insert your own joke here)
Wednesday was a journey into the minds of madmen with Philip Carlo, talking about mass murders and pedophiles. Thankfully, he was intriguing without being gross and the material was pretty fascinating. There must have been something in the air this week, as Carlo let out a bomb in the midst of the show when Noory asked about Jeffrey Dahmer's parents and Carlo said their excuses were "bulls**t". Strangely, the MP3 was uncut and the word just flew out, nearly knocking me off my feet as such foul language defiling the pristine halls of Coast. Even stranger was that Noory didn't even acknowledge it. I'm sure he had a stern word with Carlo during the break as it seemed like Carlo self-edited his responses for the remainder of the show. Filthy language notwithstanding, excellent episode.
Also, the infowarrior himself, Alex Jones popped in during the beginning of the show with the tantalizing story of the 4 star general who was fired from the military base where a nuke drill is going to go down later this Summer. C2C should be sponsored by "Depends", considering how often they let fly these impending nuke stories.
Sadly, Lionel Fanthorpe suffered from being on Thursday as I missed him, as I am wont to do with Thursday episodes, since they are so close to "binnall report" deadline. Fear not, my friends, my schedule is changing soon and I will be back on track in no time.
The Week That Is
C2C stalwart Linda Moulton Howe returns tonight for the Friday night 1st hour pop in. She's going to be talking about Deep Impact. Will she trump RCH and produce some data ? Listen in and find out.
This weekend's Saturday Night Punnett looks dreadful as Dr. Fred Bell will be on to talk about "health devices". C2C's preview claims he was involved with the infamous and highly controversial MK Ultra project. Uh, can we please hear about that instead of the latest trends in pacemakers ? Keep your fingers crossed that he'll delve into the world of government mindbending and leave the prosthetic fall preview at home.
Sunday, Coast dips into the vault for a 4 hour interview conducted by Art Bell with Michael Horn talking about the Billy Meier case. This episode originally aired on 3.7.2004. This episode was amongst the exclusive Coastie Contenders @ BoA last year, so it must be good.
The Noor kicks off the week with Monday's guest Stephen Mehler, talking about Egypt and the secret societies that grew out of that historic and mysterious country. Coast claims he's been studying Egypt for over 35 years, so he must have a bevy of good stuff.
Tuesday, Noory welcomes Colin Bennett to talk about government disinfo surrounding UFO sightings in the 1950's. Sounds fascinating. Bennett bills himself as the "Bad Man" of Ufology, indicating that he has an enormous ego. This could be good or bad.
Scott Stephens is a weatherman. He'll be appearing on Coast on Wednesday to talk about stuff he sees in the satellite images that don't look right to him. Interesting change of pace. I recall this guy when he was on with Art a while back and it was a decent ep., so this one should be good.
Yes ! Finally, C2C has John Loftus on the show on Thursday. I'm a huge Loftus fan, having listened to him on the John Batchelor Show for the past 2 years or so. This guy is solid. He's not all the way with conspiracy theories, but he sure sees some odd occurrences and his insider info make what he says worth hearing.
We end the week with Standard Friday Open Lines with a side dish of 1st Hour Pop In. Or as we call it, "the usual".
binnall of america : audio, Season One
My advisors and handlers are really needling me to start giving out some info on when things will be rolling out for binnall of america : audio, Season One. After some serious give and take, including one intern accidentally losing his vision for 3 days, a compromise was reached and we have decided to announce some details ... next week ... in this space. Guaranteed. Maybe it will be a lot of details, maybe it will be just one awesome announcement to get them off my back. Either way, you will know more about BoA : Audio, Season One next week.
The X-Conference Sessions : available NOW @ binnallofamerica.com. binnall interviews Stanton Friedman, Alfred Webre, Dr. Michael Salla, Webster Tarpley, Robert Miles, Monsignor Corrado Balducci, and the X-Conference Press Conference. Free MP3s for fans of esoteric geniuses.
Best regards,
Thomas N. Binnall
Sweet. I finally have a place to stay when I am in Washington State. My family has been in Massachusetts for three generations. I am guessing the Washington Binnalls fled the East Coast as a result of the insanity of us East Coast Binnalls.
Tom later wrote again saying he bought a BoA shirt and then said I had to buy a piano from him, which sounds like a Binnall to me. Hope all is well, my distant cousin. I will look you up when I am in the Pacific Northwest.
Letter # 2 :
Do you ever hear from Coast guests who don't like your recap of their appearance ?
Stacey in British Columbia, Canada Despite some rather harsh words for lackluster episodes of Coast, I've never heard from anyone whose appearance I've panned. I have heard from quite a few C2C guests who appreciated my kind review and some write in to clarify on points I may have raised in the recaps, but no outright upset Coast guests who are mad that I didn't like their appearance.
If I revealed names of who reads the binnall report among the C2C stars, you'd be pleasantly surprised. I'm still waiting for that angry missive from Phil Plait or Sean David Morton and when it arrives, I'll be sure to share that one with y'all.
Questions ? Comments ? Send them here : This Week in C2C History
8.12.2003 : Don McAlvany guested with George Noory to give some financial advice to the C2C audience. He was pretty negative, indicating that things would get worse, advised getting out of stocks and into gold, and said the housing bubble would burst. Despite what he said, I still made a fortune in Bolo Tie Futures, but I had inside sources.
8.12.1999 : Ed Dames was the guest with Art Bell hosting. Here are some notables : " phone calls are taken with one caller asking Ed if he has remote viewed the Anti-Christ. Ed says all he knows about that is he will be a throw away baby, one born last year and thrown into a dumpster." (artbell.com CD ROM) He was also ranting about water shortages, which seemed to be the crisis du jour at the time.
8.12.1997 : A prediction that never materialized : "Art has received a fax from the White House and predicts he will have either the president or the vice president on the program and the subject will be global climate change." (artbell.com CD ROM)
End Notes
Add the August 12th binnall report to the official canon, for this week's edition is now finished. Nice and early this week with plenty of time to spare for esoteric foolishness and Red Sox games. Good on ya.
Plugs : Tomorrow, Hoags to Hoags AM will finally be updating bringing us up to speed following the Hoaglandathon that was the last 2 weeks. Saturday late night, it's Saturday Night Punnett, the growing cult sensation that is my running time commentary on the 1st hour of every Saturday's C2C. Sunday afternoon, smoke em if you got em, 'cause smoker dave will be updated. Monday, News Watch, a collective of stuffs from the BoA offices. Tuesday, Help Wanted : We are looking for 1 or 2 new columnists for BoA to expand our horizons, voices, and coverage. Contact yours truly for details if interested. Also, we are looking for someone to transcribe our BoA : Audio MP3s, starting with the X-Conference Sessions. This will require a fair amount of work and therefore will be a "pay by barter" gig. Contact yours truly for details on that as well.
Like a chimp with no feet, there's no place left to go from here. Hope you all have a safe and pleasant week and I'll see you on the flipside.
