7.14.6

It is insanely hot here. A couple of days ago, we almost had a tornado. But I've had a lot of free time on my hands for the first time in like 5 years, so I can stand the weather.

In the meantime, my poor father has fallen ill yet again. Without getting into the gory details, he has been admitted to the hospital with a diabetes related ailment. So I am still working around a limited schedule for the next few weeks. Please keep my dad in your thoughts and prayers and I'm sure he will be out of the hospital soon.

Luckily for us all, though, I managed to catch quite a bit of C2C in the last week and I have a lot to say about it. Brother Michael Dimond and JC fought it out and Lionel Fanthorpe rocked the house in the past week on Coast to Coast. In the upcoming week, we'll hear from Adam the Dreamhealer and all about reptoids with John Rhodes. We dip into the mailbag to receive more praise and talk about upcoming changes for BoA. We look back into esoteric radio history that includes Hoagland having a conference and C2C covering it on-site. And, Noory and Hoagland get some style help from Tim Gunn and Santino only in Hot Newz.

Like the backyard barbecue paper plate that can barely contain all the food, this is the binnall report and it's spilling all over the lawn.

The Week That Was

We left off last week with The Noor lounging in decadence as he had both the Friday into Saturday Open Lines and, for the pop-in, Dr. Morgus. I'm some folks out there really really loved this episode, but I am no OL fan and I am certainly no Morgus fan. Put them both together and the combination is, to me, repellent.

Saturday on Ian, Ross Mitchell was the guest host, welcoming Neil Slade to talk about brain stuffs. I missed this one. No buzz on it either. It used to be cool when Ross Mitchell hosts, but there is now an underlying annoyance, because we are all just waiting for Art to get back on the air.

Speaking of which, on C2C proper, Ian Punnett was the host yet again. His guest was Doreen Virtue, talking about all sorts of folklore. Sadly, I missed this one and didn't get a chance to check it out later in the week. The buzz on it was strong, but spread over two camps, "she's a nut" and "she's cool". I can see how that could happen, when one of your topics is "Aquatic Apes". I'll put this one in the "to do" pile, for sure.

Sunday was a rebroadcast of Art Bell hosting special "Oil Crisis Open Lines" from 3.27.2005. I thought this was pretty killer at the time, except for when Art read like half of a Rolling Stone article on the air. The callers were, for the most part, pretty erudite and thoughtful, with only a few clowns.

Monday, The Noor returned to the helm and, thankfully, so did I. The guest was Brother Michael Dimond and the episode was one for the books. I couldn't have chosen a better Coast episode to rejoin the listening public than this one. Dimond was a super strict Benedictine Monk, who pretty much told everyone that they are damned to hell. It was hilarious.

In some ways it was a scary episode, because you wonder if this guy is for real or not. When confronted with any rational thinking, he always fell back to the Bible and used it as his weapon to hammer home how we are all screwed. Poor Noory seemed pretty confounded, because he kept trying to explain to Dimond how retarded he was, but Dimond couldn't be bothered with such trivial matters.

Some really far out discussion on Fatima, the End Times, corruption of the Catholic Church, an imposter Sister Lucia, and tons more arcane musings. If Dimond wasn't such an ass clown, I'd give more credence to what he actually said.

Shockingly, this was one episode whose quality actually improved as a result of the callers, who took it to Dimond pretty hardcore. The highlight, aside from the JC calls, was the angry redneck who ranted and argued with Dimond, concluding with, "Where's your Magistrarians now ?! You don't have one !" Only on C2C could a redneck shout that and it would be relevant.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the JC calls, both at the beginning of hour 4 and the end. I am torn on this one, as I love JC and his fight with Dimond was outstanding. That said, I am still quite dubious of this "surprise attack" crap that has happened over the last year, first with "debunking Hoagland" and now with JC (what an appropriate pair). It sets a dangerous precedent, despite how much I loved hearing Dimond get his comeuppance at the hands of JC.

Tuesday, we heard from Pamela Heath, talking about psychokinesis and suicide. Fascinating stuff, but altogether too ephemeral to do any with it afterwards. The psychokinesis portion had some good bits to it, like how people can make things disappear somehow, but it was nothing compared to the suicide portion of the show.

This section talked about messages obtained from "the other side" from folks who had committed suicide. The veracity of the messages notwithstanding, this was a fascinating discussion of what someone who committed suicide experiences from beyond the great abyss. The Noor was in his element here, throwing every scenario he could think of at her, from assisted suicide, suicide bombers, those weirdos who die "accidentally" during sex. Hell, Noory even though the completely unrelated phenomenon of "cutters" at Heath, who explained that that had nothing to do with suicide.

I skipped out for the last hour and apparently that was a good thing, as the phone lines were flooded with suicidal people. I thought that only happens when Sean David Morton is on. Anyway, apparently Heath had to "talk them down" while Noory helped however he could. Sounds awkward and depressing, so I'm glad I missed that. Otherwise, intriguing episode.

Wednesday saw the C2C return, first hour, of the beloved Dr. Louis Turi. Turi was making predictions left and right and I didn't have time to keep track of them. Hopefully Aspie did. What really amused me was that Turi was pimping his myspace page. Being that binnall is also a myspace denizen (my page : myspace.com/binnall), I quickly added the good Doctor and also took a gander at his page. Trust me, you have to see it to believe it. Where else can you spy Dr. Turi pictured with Gary Busey ? Also, you can follow along as Turi hits on random women on myspace, which is both creepy as all hell and also quite possibly the funniest thing I've seen online in years. The gist of the pop-in was Turi said that bad things are about to happen and we're essentially screwed, but to be sure to add him as a myspace friend.

The full show guest was Bernard Haisch to discuss science and spirituality. I tried, really I did, I tried so hard to get into this episode. But it was not to be as I only stuck with it for the first 45 minutes. I think it was because the episode was bogged down with cosmology and the first half hour or so was spent talking about the "big bang". It was all kind of a let down after Turi, sadly.

We ended the week on Thursday with John Curtis as the pop-in. Curtis was on to talk about the escalating Israel v. Lebanon conflict and pretty much just scared the crap out of everyone. Even Noory acknowledged this, so it was all good.

The full show guest was the venerable Lionel Fanthorpe talking about time travel, vanishings, and other odd stories. Fanthorpe is the man, nuff said. He was rocking out hardcore with Noory, who could barely keep up with him. Highlights included : little Lionel Fanthorpe serving as the mascot to his father's WWII volunteer police force and getting rationed candy from the cops, stories of people just vanishing, punctuated by an exacerbated Noory yelping, "Where did they go ?!", Lionel's bull frog alarm going off and his extended story about its origins, and Lionel starting every story with, "Have you ever heard the story of _____ ?"

Just outstanding stuff. Fanthorpe owned the stage as usual. Noory stayed out of the way and let the master do his thing. For three hours, all was right in esoteric radio land. Excellent episode.

There you have it. Good to great week, with the insane (Dimond / Virtue), the classic (Bell Open Lines replay), the spooky (Heath), the science (Haisch), and the legend (Fanthorpe), with an assortment of pop-ins covering all those areas as well. An almost picture perfect week, save for the lack of Hoagland.

The Week That Is

We kick off the upcoming weekend with the usual pre-weekend monkey business from The Noor : Friday into Saturday Open Lines. The pop-in will be R. Gary Patterson, which should be kicking. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him go 2 hours. Almost always a fun trip. Standard Open Lines follow.

Art Bell remains incommunicado, as far as hosting goes, so the weekend schedule is out of whack, yet again. Ross Mitchell hosts "Ian", Ian Punnett hosts C2C proper on Saturday night, and The Noor hosts C2C on Sunday night. Got it ? Good, let's take a look at what's on tap.

On "Ian", Ross welcomes Charles R. Smith to discuss "new weaponry". Smith is excellent when it comes to updating us on the latest development in various weapons systems. I'd go so far as to call him a "workhorse", as he does a lot of good, solid episodes, but flies under the radar when it comes to "C2C stars". With Ross, this should be strong.

On C2C proper, John Rhodes is the guest, talking about UFOs, reptoids, and the underworld. Sounds awesome. I recall Rhodes from his appearance about a year ago and that one was also strong. I expect this to be a wild ride. This area is out of Ian's comfort zone so it will be interesting to see what he does with Rhodes.

Sunday on Coast, The Noor does one of his rare Sunday night hosting spots and has Jeff Belanger on to give us the low down on his ghost investigations and his friendship with the late George Lutz. This could be good or it could stink, it rests in the hands of Belanger and whether or not he brings the goods.

Monday, The Noor continues his six day week with Jack Cashill joining the show to cover TWA Flight 800, which mysteriously crashed 10 years ago. Kudos to Noory and C2C for paying credence to the anniversary. Cashill was on two years ago, covering the mysterious death of Ron Brown. He is more in the mold of Peter Lance than Alex Jones, but I expect some good stuff here.

Tuesday, we'll be hearing from Adam the Dreamhealer. Many may remember Adam because he is a teenage kid who somehow had mystical healing powers. He also apparently saved the life of rock star Ronnie Hawkins. He's pretty well known in esoteric circles, gaining a following of sorts from both sides, believers and skeptics, but this will be his first full length C2C interview. It should be interesting to see how The Noor tackles this one.

Wednesday, we'll finally be hearing from Maurice Cotterell, who seems to have been scheduled a lot lately and keeps getting bumped (or perhaps that's my imagination). In any event, Cotterell will be on to talk about ancient encoded secrets and the Celts. For some reason, I always seem to confuse Cotterell with Lionel Fanthorpe, but I'm fairly certain that Cotterell is of quality stock.

Meh. Looks decent. Nothing to set the world on fire, but some solid material mixed in with some wildcards.

Letter #1 :

Hi Tim

Just wanted to let you know that after a prolonged period of gross procrastination, I have listened to all of season one. I want you to know that I thoroughly enjoyed the interviews, especially Jim Marrs and Nick Redfern.

I know it is alot of work and takes a great deal of time and patience. I doff my cap to you and look forward to season two.

I am recommending a listen to my friends and people who happen upon my forum.

Take care Tim and be well!

Best Regards

Thanks for the props, circledancer. The audio series does take a lot of effort, but looking back over it now, it's worth it. I'm just hoping Season Two can live up to expectations, lol.

Thanks for helping to spread the word about BoA.

Letter #2 :

I'd enjoy RSS feeds for the various columnists.

This is actually a response to a call out I made over @ theusofe.com for any suggestions / requests for change @ BoA. We're in the process of fine tuning the site, tightening it up, and cleaning out some of the clutter.

In the meantime, if you've wanted something @ BoA changed, now is the time to ask. Go for it, we'll see what we can do as we work out the details of the relaunch.

Re : the rss feeds, we're working on it now. Thanks for the suggestion.

This Week in C2C History

7.14.2005 : Biscardigate begins ~! Tom Biscardi showed up on C2C for the first in what would be a cluster of appearances culminating in a Coaster winning declaration of "Bigfoot Captured" by late Summer of '05. But before we get to that, Biscardi showed up on C2C to lay the groundwork, proclaiming, "within the next few weeks, he is 98% sure that his group will be able to capture a Bigfoot which they have been tracking in the Happy Camp, California area. Further, there are plans to present the capture of the creature on a live Internet video stream, he reported. " (c2c.com) Wow, in hindsight, we sure should have seen the con coming a mile away.

7.15.1999 : Y2K is on the way ! Duck and cover ! "Y2K.... Art talks about how many U.S. cities are leaving themselves scant time to prepare for Y2K. " (artbell.com cd rom)

7.14.1997 : Ah, the good old days. This sounds like a surefire classic, "Coverage of the Richard Hoagland "Phoenix Connection" Seminar, LIVE from Phoenix. First 2 1/2 hours." (artbell.com cd rom)

End Notes

The little timer popped out, which means this edition of the binnall report is golden brown and all finished up. I hope you enjoyed the ride this week.

Plugs : Tomorrow @ BoA. I expect to debut a new column that is entirely outside the realm of the esoteric. I'm not even sure it should be on BoA, but it probably will be. If not that, then BoA updates. Sunday, Lesley's C2C Rewind @ The Debris Field and smoker dave. Monday, something special, trust me. Tuesday, Lesley's Grey Matters. Wednesday, Classic K-Files. Thursday, Hot Newz. Friday, another edition of the binnall report.

I got a bunch of other stuff to get working on, so we'll call it a day at that. I hope y'all have an excellent weekend, a stress free week, and an esoteric existence. This is binnall, signing off.
