I can't believe tomorrow will by July 1st. Wow. Time just flies. I'm looking forward to a Summer of relaxing and enjoying myself. Sounds pretty nice. This weekend should kick it all off pretty nicely.
In this week's "report", we don't have much, but it isn't entirely my fault. We've got the low down on the only two fresh Coast to Coast episodes from last week, including a stellar episode of "Ian" and Steve Quayle as C2C guest host. We look ahead to next week, including the return of C2C guest hosts Lisa Garr and George Knapp and, obviously, the return of esoteric everyman The Noor. We give you one final push for BoA : Audio, Season One's big season finale with Gary McKinnon, including some snippets of reviews of the interviews and a look at the buzz it has generated. We skip out on the mailbag, taking a Noory for a week on that one. We dip into the C2C archives and talk about the last June 30th that Noory hosted, three years ago, and find out what Hoagland was up to on this date in 1999. And, we finish it all up with a look at the annual C2C Summer Retreat, only in Hot Newz.
It's the online equivalent of holding a firecracker and losing a finger. It's the binnall report and it starts now.
The Week That Was
There really isn't much to say about this past week, considering there were only two fresh episodes offered by C2C. So, we'll be keeping it short and sweet (as possible). I actually re-printed excerpts of previous binnall report recaps of the episodes that I had caught before in last week's "tbr", so check that out my thoughts on the particular episodes that happened to be repeats.
We left off last week with C2C billing Friday as "Open Lines" with the host being Art Bell. I was suspicious of that and rightfully so, as it turned out to actually be a rebroadcast from 11.5.2004. A rebroadcast of Open Lines, no less. Stuart Wilde was the pop-in and the special topic line was "9 Lives".
Saturday, on "Ian", we kicked it off with the first of two fresh episodes for the week, as Punnett welcomed Todd Tucker to the show to talk about a WWII-era starvation experiment. Hmm, an allusion to our upcoming starvation of fresh Coast episodes ? Perhaps.
Anyway, I listened to this one, of course, perhaps more intently than I usually listen to Ian, as he often falls by the wayside. I was sufficiently impressed, as is often the case with IP. The first hour was pretty damn funny at some points and corny as all hell at some points, in other words, vintage Ian. He did make one drawn out joke, about being a superhero and wearing pantyhose, that had me cracking up quite a bit.
Then came Tucker and the show kicked into a higher gear. Ian was well versed in the subject matter, having almost finished Tucker's book. Kudos to Ian for doing the research. I've always appreciated that about Ian. Fun discussion on religious pacifists who were a part of some insane starvation experiment back towards the end of World War II. Richly detailed, with good questions that really fleshed out the subject matter. This episode reminded me a lot of the spectacular "Ian" episode re: Hershey. Alt. History episodes seem to be Ian's strong suit and this was a high quality episode. Better than a lot of the subpar mid-week C2C episodes we all know and loathe.
As an aside, let's pause and give kudos to Ian for staying on "Ian" and not jumping up to C2C proper, considering that they were running a re-broadcast later that night. "Ian" is your ship, IP, I expect you to tend to it and I am glad you did so. Keep up the good work.
After Saturday's Ian, C2C began a streak of five re-broadcasts as Art Bell was still living in the Stone Age and couldn't get on the air and George Noory was living it up in Cabo Wabo or Branson, Missouri on his annual "Wet, Wild, and Wooley Noory Summer Vacation."
Saturday night was James Van Praagh from 12.20.2003, hosted by Art Bell. Didn't care the first time, still don't.
Sunday night was "Angry Prognosticator" Gerald Celente from 1.18.2004, hosted by Art Bell. I have downloaded it for the sole purpose of finding out if Celente was always as angry as he sounded earlier this year.
Monday night was Catherine Austin Fitts from 4.4.2005, hosted by The Noor. I already had this one, at least the first hour with Steven Greer. I recapped it last week.
Tuesday night was Travis Walton from 5.31.2005, hosted by Noory. I already have this one, but it is an all time classic, so I've no problem with it being replayed. If you haven't heard it yet, check it out, it's killer.
Wednesday night was David Icke from 6.2.2005, hosted by Noory. Good to great episode that I already have in my personal archives. Icke fans will like it, Icke haters will listen and talk about how much they hate Icke. Everyone wins.
And then came Thursday night. Originally planned to be Art Bell, but he was still having problems finding an outlet for his phone or something. In his stead, we had, I crap you not, Steve "Absolutely" Quayle as the guest host ~! WTF !!! Somewhere out there, Richard C. Hoagland is fuming and smashing things.
I actually only managed to catch about 45 mins. or so of SQ's hosting duties and haven't had a chance to catch it all just yet, considering that it just went down last night. It certainly was surreal. It felt like a Special Roundtable episode where Noory went to the bathroom and left everyone talking or something. I kept waiting for The Noor to barge in with some reference to Contact or that Twilight Zone episode "To Serve Man."
For the record, SQ had Stan Deyo on in the first hour. Quayle went all Rense on us, by just bringing Deyo on within the first minute or two of the episode and skipping headlines. The full show guest was George Ure, who uses web bots to predict stuff. Seriously. It sounded like a bunch of malarky, but as I said, I only caught about 45 minutes of the show. At one point during the first hour, though, Quayle interrupts Ure to tell him they have to go to commercial and then ... they don't go to commercial and Quayle is all confused. It kind of blew the flow of the show and SQ didn't seem to be "on" when it came to taking breaks, but I will give him a pass, considering he couldn't have had much time to prepare to guest host C2C.
All in all it was a pretty dead week. Ian kicked some serious ass with Todd Tucker and the starvation experiment discussion. Steve Quayle somehow managed to luck into guest hosting C2C and did a passable job. Art Bell was still stuck in the Pacific and couldn't do anything. And Noory was laughing it up, jetting to the French Riviera with a plane load of foot models, a recovering junkie, a midget and drag queen. Hey, it's his vacation, let him do what he wants.
The Week That Is
We don't have much details regarding what is on tap for the upcoming week. It looks like some serious patchwork over the weekend and, of course, the return of the Noor. But, C2C hasn't given us much more than that.
Tonight, we know that the usual Friday into Saturday Open Lines will go on as planned. Only tonight, it will be Ian Punnett who will be guest hosting the show. Good stuff. If this is like a 4 hour extended session of Ian's first hour material, it could be great.
Saturday, Ian betrays me once again by jumping up to guest host C2C proper and Lisa Garr returns to guest host C2C Live (also known in these parts as "Ian"). I'm not going to go back and redact my praise of Ian for hosting "Ian" last week, it makes the shame and betrayal all the more vibrant this way. "Ian" should be hosted by Ian, stop confusing everyone, Ian.
Anyway, on "Ian", Lisa's guest will be TBA. Those of you may recall that last time Lisa hosted, I called her "sultry." The big question, of course, is will her sultriness hold up ? Or was it a one time thing ? We'll find out on Saturday evening.
On C2C proper, Ian welcomes Seth Shostak of SETI. Ugh. If you are a longtime reader of my various columns, you know by now that I hate Seth Shostak with every fibre of my being. He is the human equivalent of cat urine. There, I said it. I just hope Shostak's "pithy" barbs against Ufology don't rub off on Ian. Seth is a bad influence. Expect a 3 hour infomercial on why SETI is great and why UFOs aren't real.
Sunday night, C2C welcomes back guest host George Knapp. Knapp has been excellent in his last two hosting gigs with the show and he looks to make it a hat trick on Sunday with Don Ecker of UFO magazine. This should be killer. Knapp knows UFOs and knows Ufology. Ecker is a force in Ufology and has surely seen it all. I expect he'll wash out the aftertaste of Shostak and give C2C some good UFO stuff.
Monday ... after a week long sojourn into darkness and quiet solitude ... The Noor returns. C2C is actually hyping that Noory got some inside info on the JFK assassination from "a source." Let's just hope it's not Dr. Morgus. Noory claims the source told him why JFK was killed and by "what group." Sounds intriguing. I have a feeling it will be a let down, but we'll see. The full show guest is Cliff Pickover talking about parallel universes.
After that, I have no idea. C2C hasn't unveiled the rest of the guest list. I'd guess Jordan Maxwell, but we all know I would be wrong. I expect it to be a good week, as C2C is usually fairly strong in the Summer before going through some doldrums in the Fall.
BoA : Audio, Season One
If you haven't heard the interview that everyone in esoterica was talking about last week, then you are seriously missing out. It's the monumental BoA : Audio, Season Finale with UK UFO Hacker Gary McKinnon.
Here's what folks are saying about this groundbreaking interview ...
As usual, loads of great stuff. -- anomalist.com
Awesome interview! Should not be missed! -- BoA's Lesley.
I thought that your research and lines of questioning were excellent. -- usofe.com poster Austin Nichols.
BoA has been one of this year's revelations in the alternative scene - some great interviewees discussing the topical stories. -- dailygrail.com
It was great to hear his side of the story. Great job Tim!! -- usofe.com poster baemark.
The interview was also picked up all over the place, including reddit.com, digg.com, red-ice.net out of Sweden, the outstanding ufoarea.com, lsufos.com out of Scotland, over at my friend Royce Myers's ufowatchdog.com in the news section, uforeview.net, wintersteel.com out of Australia, the amazing paranormal clearing house that is about.com's paranormal section, and, of course, our good friends at dailygrail.com and anomalist.com. So as you can see this interview generated a ton of buzz and if you've heard it, you know why.
If you haven't heard it yet, you still can ...
We'll bring back the BoA : Audio section of "the binnall report" in a few months when we start the ramp up to Season Two. Until then, have a delightful Summer.

This Week in C2C History
6.30.2003 : You have to reach back 3 years to find a fresh episode of C2C on June 30th, as it co-incides with Noory's annual vacation. In this, his first year as full time host, he seems to have stayed put for the final week in June. The guest was Tom Van Flandern. He was talking about exploding planet theory and stuff on Mars. I'm sure this observation by him drew the ire of Sir Hoags-a-lot. "He said of NASA's 100,000 high resolution images sent by the Global Surveyor, 100-200 of them "turned up astonishing anomalies." Among these, were images he called "glass tubes" which could show some type of interlinking transportation network." (c2c.com)
6.30.1999 : C2C's science advisor in action 7 years ago today, " Richard Hoagland joins Art in the first hour with updates on the Miami Circle, the activity on the sun and what the comet may have to do with that. Richard says when Comet Lee crossed the ecliptic all hell broke loose and the sun spot count jumped up significantly." (artbell.com cd rom)
End Notes
Ah, rather light this week, but that seems to be the trend around these parts. I hope all my dear readers have a safe and fun holiday weekend.
Plugs : Tomorrow @ BoA, Quayle Watch updated and maybe some other fun stuff. Sunday, Lesley's C2C Rewind @ The Debris Field and smoker dave. Monday, Trickster's Realm. Tuesday, Lesley's Grey Matters. Wednesday, Khyron is on vacation in Cali, so perhaps we'll unveil June's Coastie Contenders in his stead. Thursday, Hot Newz. Friday, binnall report, one more time.
Worthy of note is that next Saturday will see the 2nd in the BoA Summer Special Series : Wrath of Joe Returns. Joe Vee has sent us a ton of material, which we'll be rolling out every other week throughout the Summer of '06 and perhaps onward. Call it our special effort to make this Summer filled with Wrath.
With that, I bid you farewell for one more week. I'm sure we'll have lots to talk about next week. Until then, be safe, have fun, and remember why we have a July 4th in the first place. This is binnall ... signing off.
