Gather round, my friends, for yet another edition of your weekly dip into the esoteric community pool that is Coast to Coast AM. I am your humble host, binnall and this is the binnall report.
Tis a beautiful day outside and we are full on into the beginning of May. Time is seriously flying right now and I am in awe of its nebulous properties. Be that as it may, I am enjoying the fine weather and the long days. I hope you are too.
We have a jam packed edition of the binnall report this week. We look back at another sub par week of C2C that was highlighted by a man they call Woz. We look ahead at a simply delicious week of C2C highlighted by the return of John Lear and the debut of Terri Garr's niece. Dig into the binnall report mailbag for a Joe Fex reference and a call for groupies. A C2C history lesson including a look back at the Bigfoot Roundtable and the first on-air brawl between Loren Coleman and Tom Biscardi. Preview Richard Dolan on BoA : Audio, plug Lesley's Ghost Hunters contest, and wrap it all up with a Hot Newz that you'll have to see to believe ... Noory on Oprah.
It may not get any better than this, but I have a feeling it always can. It's the binnall report. Let's do this.
The Week That Was
We left off last week with the first lady of C2C, Linda Moulton Howe, stopping by for her monthly visit, this time talking about a bizarre EBE sighting. I only caught bits and pieces of her stuff this time around, so I can't really comment on the quality of it. If you are an LMH fan, I'm sure you dug it. Standard Friday into Saturday Open Lines followed.
After a two week run of subpar episodes, C2C's spin off Ian returned to its usual strong level of work with Linda Godfrey, talking about werewolves on Saturday. This wasn't at the level of the near perfect Hershey episode from 3 weeks ago, but it was almost there. Ian knew his stuff, knew what to ask and his chemistry with Godfrey was off the charts.
The only downside, for me personally, was that Ian apparently never played "Werewolves of London", thus making a liar out of me based on my prediction in last week's binnall report. Way to go, Ian.
Saturday Night Bell featured the much discussed classic Art Bell interview with Richard C. Hoagland from 12.26.2003, talking about the Martian Armada that was about to touch down on Mars. As noted last week, this episode featured the hilarious discussion between Bell and RCH about whether or not there was a cabal of janitors sabotaging Mars missions.
It also had a few classic Hoagland moments that are even funnier in retrospect, like how Dr. Newcomb of the European Space Agency was going to take pictures of Cydonia with the Mars Orbitor. Still waiting on those pics, Hoags. Also, we were treated to a half hour plus of Hoagland talking about pictures that could only been seen by folks with computers, making it a veritable slide show for the blind for those of us who actually do stuff while listening to Coast. Lots of discussion on shadowy sources, late breaking news, and esoteric supposition, i.e. everything we grew to love about Hoagland before he started showing up on Coast at least once a week and was dubbed "science advisor".
Sunday featured another strong episode, as Kevin Mitnick was the guest host and welcomed Steve Wozniak, founder of Apple Computers, to the show. Wozniak is an A-list guest for his field and this was a stellar episode and will receive a Coastie nomination, for sure, later this month. Mitnick did a good job and just may have gone to the binnall school of esoteric radio, as he knew enough to just ask Wozniak a question and then get the hell out of the way while the Woz spun his straw into gold. And gold it was, as Wozniak held court and enveloped even this previously skeptical listener. Great stuff, easily best of the week.
Monday, John Hogue returned to C2C and The Noor was there to interview him, of course. The topic was, obviously, Nostradamus. This boiled down to a lot of Esoteric 101 and stuff that has been done to death on Coast, but somehow still has its fans. A lot of "What does Nostradamus say about (blank)" and then Hogue pontificating for a while. Been there, done that, no thanks. You may have liked it though, who knows.
Tuesday saw another Dr. Robert Zubrin as the guest, first talking about alternative energy and then talking about Mars. I was skeptical about this one too, but Zubrin amused the hell out of me with his ultra whiney persona. Nothing is good enough for him, he points out faults in the system left and right, and insists that there's a better way to do things ... endlessly. At first it was annoying, but it turned to hilarious by the end.
A couple of weeks ago, after Noory hosted a four hour Open Line session, I worried that he was becoming an Open Line addict. For a while, it seemed like he'd kept the demons in check. Until this week, when he filled the TBA slot with ... Open Lines. So we had OL on Wednesday and we'll be having it again on Friday this week. If you think I listened to this "special" Open Lines, then you haven't been reading much of this column before. Of course I skipped it and caught up on the weekend's episodes.
Apparently, the "special topic line" was the "Time to Vent Line", where callers would bitch and moan about something and Noory would play Dr. Phil or something. Since I couldn't get through on the TTV Line, allow me to vent here : No one likes Open Lines. Stop doing them so much. I hate them ! I hate them ! I hate them ! Bring back Jordan Maxwell !! Wow. I do feel better. Thanks, Noory.
Sadly, I barely caught Thursday's show and we are up against the clock, so I couldn't catch it in time for this week's "binnall report". Reviews are trickling in now, so I can't say even if it was any good or not. The guest was Dean Radin, talking about psychic experiments. What I caught was decent stuff and it may have been quite good in total, but I can't say for sure.
Strong weekend followed up by a sub par week that included an, ugh, "special" Wednesday Open Lines. Fear not, though, as C2C has a loaded line up for the upcoming week.
The Week That Is
This looks to be an excellent week, on paper, perhaps signaling a turnaround since the last two weeks have been rather stagnant. Let's take a look at the offerings ...
Tonight, it's the usual Friday into Saturday Open Lines. No word on the pop-in yet, so it could be anybody.
Saturday on Ian, IP welcomes Ann Finkbeiner to talk about her book, The Jasons: The Secret History of Science's Postwar Elite. This could be good stuff, as apparently her book is about a secret cabal of scientists post-WWII. If she has the right charisma and Ian is "on", then this may be a keeper.
Saturday night, in lieu of Art Bell, who is still relocating to the Philippines, we'll have Lisa Garr stepping in as guest host. Before you ask, yes, Lisa Garr is related to Terri Garr. Her guest will be Russel Targ of remote viewing fame. Sounds like an ideal guest for a first time guest host as Targ is an old pro when it comes to the esoteric radio scene.
Before I rant and rave about Terri Garr's niece, we'll give her a chance. Next week, we'll determine whether she gets a "yay" or "nay". That said, I am wondering just what the hell is going on at Coast when we've had three odd guest hosts in the last month or so (George Knapp, Kevin Mitnick, and now Lisa Garr). Where's Hilly Rose ? I'm beginning to get worried about the Hill Man.
On the subject of C2C guest hosts, I'll refer to a missive written by me over @ theusofe.com when we were discussing Lisa Garr's impending C2C guest shot ...
We all know that C2C needs a guest host who is young, hip, less folksy than Noory, a tad "in your face", odd and mysterious like Bell, with a biting, more witty sense of humour than Ian Punnett, possessing a wide range of encyclopedic knowledge about esoterica, and friends in the esoteric fields, along with a degree in radio, some experience with the medium, the knowledge of how to use the bumper music to enhance the show, and a rich understanding of the history of Coast to Coast and esoteric radio.
If only they could find such an ideal host ...
Sunday on C2C, The Noor is working the weekend once again and this time, his guest will be Will Thomas. Thomas just might fill the nutty quotient for the week as his topic will be US electronic military mind control and how it is being used on the people in Iraq. If this is true, one would surmise that there are still a few bugs in the system based on the present state of affairs in modern day Sumeria. Depending on how far out Thomas is, this could be good to great.
Monday, Noory has another strong episode on tap, as Dr. John DeSalvo will be the guest to discuss Andrew Jackson Davis, a Civil War era prophet. Nice little alternative history episode that could sink or swim depending on how decent Davis's prophecies were. I am a sucker for alt. history episodes, so I'm in.
Tuesday, it's the dreaded TBA. Last week, I begged for Jordan Maxwell, predicted Steve Quayle and got Open Lines. I will reiterate my plea / prediction by saying they should have Jordan Maxwell on but will instead get Steve Quayle. I'll pray we don't get another Open Lines.
Then comes a back to back double shot of pure esoteric goodness with first Michael Tsarion on Wednesday. Tsarion brings the noise and the funk hardcore every time he is on. Think of him as a mutant child of David Icke and Alex Jones with a touch of leprechaun. If you like someone who rants so much that Noory has to fight to go to commercial, you'll love this one. I've yet to be disappointed with a Tsarion C2C appearance, hopefully the trend continues.
And then on Thursday, it's a monumental episode of Coast, as John Lear returns after a two year absence. Lear is pretty much the guest who got the ball rolling to start C2C with Art Bell and I am sure that BoA's Lesley will be psyched beyond words to see Lear come back to Coast.
In the two times I've heard Lear on Coast, he has brought some grave news about the world we live in. The first time was in November of '03 when he gave us "the Lear Test". (Google it to find out more). Then in March of '04, he gave us the craptacular theory (?) that the moon was towed to its orbit by ETs and that they collect human souls as a form of currency.
Two forewarnings for y'all. First of all, the host will obviously be Noory, not Bell, so this episode will have a weird new tinge to it and not have the classic Art Bell / John Lear chemistry that is famous in esoteric radio. The second is that I'll never forget Lear swearing in November of 2003 with a deadly serious tone that he'll never appear on Coast again ... only to appear less than six months later and now two years later. It's hard to take anything he says seriously after he pulls a move like that.
All in all, it looks like a strong week, on paper, with almost all good to great to excellent episodes coming up and only a handful of potential stinkers (sorry, Terri Garr's niece ! ) I hereby rescind all my kvetching from two weeks ago over the lousy guests. Thou art forgiven, C2C.

BoA : Audio, Season One
The wild ride that is BoA : Audio continues this week, with the first half of the highly anticipated Richard Dolan interview. I read Dolan's legendary book "UFOs and the National Security State" a few weeks before the interview, so this interview is packed with obscure questions and overarching big picture discussion. Be sure to check out our archive of BoA : Audio shows, which now features a stunning 26 previous episodes.
This Week : Richard Dolan (Part 2 of 2) . More historical Ufology discussion. Plus a preview of the next edition of UFOs and the National Security State", which covers the last thirty years of Ufology. We also talk about disclosure, Serpo, and even Charlie Sheen.
His website is : www.keyholepublishing.com
Next Week : TBA
We're scheduled to tape on Monday, so I should announce who it is on the appropriate page @ BoA after the interview is taped.

Letter #1 :
Hi,
I saw your list, would also love to see this guy [Joe Fex] as well as hear what Dan Aykroyd had to say on C2C. Is there a forum @ C2C for public requests? Ever heard of Dr. Jack "Kewaunee" Lapseritis (The Psychic Sasquatch & their UFO Connection), has he been on the show? Thought maybe you could use this info. on Ape-x.
Thanks, -Brenda
Brenda is referencing the BoA annual feature "12 Guests C2C Needs", see HERE. She included, with her letter, some info re: # 11 on the list, Joe Fex.
Brenda ::
Thanks for writing. To the best of my knowledge Jack Lapseritis has not been on Coast yet. I'll add him to the basket of names who may potentially make '06 list for C2C Guests. I believe they have an e-mail address up @ the C2C webpage for suggest a guest under the Feature Article banner every few weeks. Keep an eye out for it and you'll see it under the heading of "Want to Be a Guest" or something like that. I suppose you could also make your suggestion on the C2C Streamlink board, but I'm not sure if anyone who determines guests actually reads it.
Thanks for the info on Joe Fex. I'll put it to good use, I assure you. I am hopeful Dan Aykroyd may be on C2C sometime this year, but don't hold your breath.
Letter #2 :
binnall,
Are you married ? Have kids ?
Sharon in San Jose, CA
No, I am not married. And, no, I don't have kids. I am actually quite single at the moment as a result of my heavy work load, impending personal life changes, and the fact that I am a creepy ass esoteric writer / radio host. That said, I will accept any correspondence from potential wives, wannabe groupies, and potential future members of my harem. (female only, please).

This Week in C2C History
5.3.2005 : Bigfoot Roundtable, baby ! Loren Coleman, Tom Biscardi, Jimmy Chilcutt, and Smokey Crabtree were the guests, although only Biscardi and Coleman were on the whole show, the other two were pop-ins. Great episode that featured a minor brawl between Coleman and Crabtree, with Biscardi siding with Crabtree and, mostly, stirring the pot.
Here's a snippet of my thoughts from the 5.6.2005 binnall report : "Enter Smokey Crabtree and you've got a full-on radio train wreck. Smokey obviously doesn't like Coleman. Coleman seems to think Smokey's "skeleton" is not what he says it is. Biscardi is embroiled in his own turf war with Coleman who he seems to perceive as an "academic entering Bigfootery". Smokey calls out Coleman for disbelieving his skeleton story, at one point alleging that Coleman is "lying to the American people" or some other outlandish statement. Biscardi, of course, sides with Smokey and Coleman seems to be just checking the clock and wondering when this show will end. "
5.5.2004 : Ever the lover of ancient civilizations, The Noor welcomed Jonathan Gray to the show to talk about lost archaeology. Gray laid out an amazing tale of the rise and fall of early mankind, "Civilizations in Egypt, Sumeria and Indus Valley appeared suddenly, already developed and Gray connected their origins to the earlier Mother Civilization. Collectively considered to be the second great civilization which spread as far as the Americas, Gray said they came to an untimely end around 2000 BC in a series of nuclear weapon exchanges or atomic disasters."
(c2c.com)
5.5.2003 : The beginnings of the odd friendship between The Noor and William Henry were on display during Noory's first year as C2C full time host. Big Will Henry brought the noise and the funk and, perhaps, won over the folksy Noory with gems like this, "The human body could be the most powerful technology on Planet Earth…We are talking about a tremendous spiritual and supernatural power that's embedded in each and everyone of us," said investigative mythologist and author William Henry" (c2c.com)
5.5.1997 : Evidence that the debate over the veracity of Ed Dames has been going on since the beginnings of Coastdom, "The FBI is saying the reason for TWA 800's demise was massive mechanical failure. Norm, the faxer, reminds us that Ed Dames was right on this time. Art reminds us that Ed was wrong in regards to the missing A-10." (artbell.com cd rom)
End Notes
And so ends another edition of the binnall report. April has turned to May, but we remain your weekly standard of excellent when it comes to reporting on Coast and also having some yuks along the way. I hope you enjoyed the ride again this week.
Plugs : Tomorrow @ binnallofamerica.com, the critically acclaimed Richard Dolan interview continues on BoA : Audio. We talk more historic Ufology, contemporary Ufology, Serpo, Charlie Sheen, and tons more. Sunday, smoker dave and Lesley's C2C Rewind from the Debris Field. Monday, April's Coastie Contenders are unveiled. Tuesday, Grey Matters. Wednesday, The K-Files. Thursday, we'll see C2C's version of the film "RV". And, Friday, we do it all again one more time with the binnall report.
binnallofamerica.com ... as Dusty Rhodes would say, "I ain't never seen nothin' like this and I've been to three goat-ropin's and an all-night fair, daddy!"
With that, I bid you farewell for now. Until you hear from me on the flip side, this is binnall ... signing off.
