Sigh. Someday when the story of my life is written, these times will be fleshed out in greater detail. Suffice it to say, I've seen better days. Chaos engulfs BoA : HQ, per usual, and I ask that you keep my family in mind this weekend and upcoming week, as we are going through some difficult times here on the home front. But the show continues ...

This week, we'll look back at another top notch episode of "Ian", Pam Anderson's return to C2C, and other esoteric hijinks from Nooryville. We'll look ahead to next week's offerings, including an ultra strong Saturday night which includes the long awaited C2C return of Brother Michael Dimond. We'll preview tomorrow's BoA : Audio featuring part one of our conversation with Kent Daniel Bentkowski talking about a variety of conspiracy theories. We'll go into C2C vault to remember the "Time to Vent" special topic line, the debut of Jerome Corsi, and the infamous Bigfoot Roundtable. Plus, we've got the inside scoop on a little TV show called "Noorwatch", only in Hot Newz.

Coming at you on the overnight, once again, lets do this ...

The Week That Was

At the close of last week's binnall report, Friday night, The Noor had Jeffrey Seelman on Coast to Coast to talk about his work as a psychic cleaner. I listened to some of Seelman, but it was a lot of the usual mumbo jumbo. Standard Friday into Saturday Open Lines followed. Thankfully, JC finally called into the show. JC called Noory a "swine spine, criminal crime lord" and The Noor goaded him about Edna Pringle, claiming she was building her own compound. JC was entertaining as always, but Noory's attempts to keep the joke going seemed a little forced. JC did make a great point that Art Bell's "Pizza Punch" being food porn and that he predicted it long ago.

Saturday on "Ian", Punnett continued to make a case for having the best weekly esoteric radio show on the planet. His guest was Saint John Hunt and the topic was E. Howard Hunt as JFK assassination conspirator. IP had the exclusive first national airing of the audio tape where Hunt discusses the assassination plot and he played it quite a few times throughout the show. At first, the tape sounded awful and kinda fake, but by the third airing, it was more believable. Hunt's story about how he got the tape and his tales about his parents were great. Ian was very strong, once again. Another excellent and fascinating "Ian".

Saturday night on C2C proper, Art Bell's guest was Sean Carroll discussing cosmology. I skipped out on this one, opting for Ian instead. Not much buzz on this one, either, so it probably slipped through the cracks.

Sunday night, Art's guest was Ryan Wood and the topic was crashed UFOs. As expected, Ryan had strong material, but also was kind of dry and didn't seem to want to "go there" when Art would bring up more controversial topics, like Ufology's endless infighting. Being that I attended last year's festivities, I enjoyed the discussion on the UFO Crash Retrieval Conference. I'd classify this one as a solid UFO episode.

Monday night, George "Hollywood" Noory welcomed Pamela Anderson and her PETA friend, Dan Mathews. Easy contender for Pop-In of the Year and/or Coaster, as this was forty minutes, or so, of uncomfortable sexual tension and accidental hilarity. Pam, as she likes me to call her, was great, dropping PETA bombs about anal electrocution and just saying things she probably thought were "provocative". Her friend, meanwhile, may have been the first openly gay man ever on Coast to Coast AM (insert your own joke about your favorite C2C personality here).

Noory, meanwhile, was rather smarmy, which was an entertaining change of pace. He claimed that when he dates a woman, if she's not an animal lover, he kicks her to the curb. (Insert your own sexual double entendre here). He also, stunningly, asked about "Borat", which is way outside his usual pop culture frame of reference (1950 to 1993). Based on the way he asked the question, though, I'm convinced it was fed to him and that Noory doesn't even know "what a Borat is".

I can totally see why many C2C hardcore fans absolutely hated this interview, but I liked it a lot. Pam was entertaining as hell, Mathews was great and brought a unique style that contrasted the usual "style-less" C2C guests, and Noory was hilarious. Love it or hate it, this one will be talked about come Coastie season.

The full show guest was Andrew Collins talking about the constellation Cygnus. I listened to some of this, but nothing could have topped that first hour. Collins was decent, but the party left with Pam.

Tuesday night, El Norro sailed into May with Dr. Michael Salla to discuss exopolitics and ETs living among us. I listened to some of this, but I kind of zoned out on a lot of it as well. I noticed some of the same soundbites and talking point that were on BoA : Audio from the weekend, which amused me and made me thankful that we posted our interview first. I didn't catch much of the "ETs among us" discussion, but what I did hear sounded kind of flimsy. I'm admittedly biased, but I'd call it a decent episode.

Wednesday, Jan Hodges was the guest and the topic was future technology. Despite being geeked out on Lost, I managed to catch a decent amount of this interview. Much of that is due to the show's use of Operation Floating Noory to start the Hodges interview at the beginning of the show. Kudos to whomever made that call.

The material was better than expected. It was simple, yet thorough and not nearly as indigestible as some other alt. science episodes. It actually kept my attention for much of the interview, which is rare for these types of discussions. I'd call it surprisingly good.

The week wrapped up with an episode that will live in infamy for quite a while. I've taken to calling it "Night of the Un-Banned". The first two hours were Nancy Lieder, banned from C2C from 5.2003 to 8.2005, talking about her friends the Zetas. Follower her, was the return of David Booth, banned from C2C from 3.2004 until this very episode, making "predictions".

Nancy was her usual retarded self, talking about her fans and switching between "Zeta talk" and "Nancy talk". Thankfully, when Noory opened up the phone lines, one of the first callers lambasted him and C2C for bringing Nancy on the show. If you've heard one Nancy Lieder interview, you've heard them all. I figured out a fairly simple way to debunk her, but I'll hold on to that card until it may come in handy someday.

The big story was the return of David Booth, who was booted mid-show, along with Wayne Green, way back in 2004. Booth was raucous as all get out and barely audible at times, leading some to speculate that he'd been "sipping on Grandpa's cough medicine" earlier in the evening. I'm not sure if Booth even predicted anything, his ostensible reason for appearing, as he rambled on endlessly with no point for much of his appearance.

For some reason, Noory was falling all over himself to smooch the posterior of Booth, including comparing him to Nostradamus at one point. I must have missed that John Hogue episode where he told us about the time Nostradamus was kicked off of live national radio in disgrace. Even stranger, Noory played Dr.Phil at one point and smashed the 4th wall of C2C, discussing Booth's banning and the infamous Sister Lucia Debacle episode. Booth, predictably, passed the buck onto Wayne Green, who was given an on air burial, at the hands of Noory, that would have made Vince McMahon proud.

At first I was disgusted and sad that C2C would bring these two losers back on the program, especially when there are so many great people out there who deserve to be on C2C and haven't been. But ... I do enjoy a good freak show, especially when I'm in on the joke, so I ended up enjoying this show quite a bit. I'm not a fan of the big picture implications of the episode, but it's Noory's house, not mine, so he can let the pets crap wherever they want. I'll just laugh when they poop in his slippers.

All in all, a strange week. Another very good "Ian", a strong Art Bell episode, and Noory hijinks that I wouldn't have believed if I hadn't heard them myself. Sometimes a week is memorable for the crap and not for the actual good esoteric radio. This is one of those weeks.

The Week That Is

Tonight, The Noor kicks Friday night off with Wiley Brooks, who sounds like he's a few egg rolls short of a pupu platter. Claiming to originate from the 5th dimension, he eats air. No, not "hair", but "air". How, (and why) I have no idea. Noory will try and get to the bottom of this in the first hour. Standard Open Lines will try and follow Wiley's air eating antics.

Saturday on "Ian", the Ian Punnett hit parade continues, as his guest will be Mark Ribowsky, biographer of Phil Spector. They'll discuss Spector's role in rock history and his murder trial. Alternative history and true crime are Ian's strong suits, so provided that the material is good, this should be another five star "Ian".

Saturday night on C2C proper, Art Bell's guest will be the combustible Brother Michael Dimond. Dimond won the 2006 Coastie Award for Best Newcomer and made huge waves last year with a highly controversial, and raucous, appearance with The Noor, which featured an on-air debate between JC and Dimond and a caller yelping, "where's your Magistrarians now ?! You don't have one !" (which still makes me laugh). Brother Michael will be discussing Fr. Malachi Martin, Fatima, and probably damning most of the audience to Hell. It's anyone's guess how Art handles him, but if it is even a third as wild as Dimond's debut appearance, this is a "can't miss" episode. Highest potential for awesomeness of any episode this coming week.

Sunday night, Art Bell says "domo origato" to Daniel H. Wilson who will be on to talk about robots. Considering that Saturday night ought to be a slobberknocker of an episode, Wilson will surely suffer from having to follow it. I'll give it a shot, but I have serious doubts that it will scratch my personal itch.

Monday night, Noory has Sharry Edwards as the guest and she'll be sharing "her computer voice analysis system that allows her to analyze a person's intent and health". Call it "The Marla Project". It sounds terrible, on paper, but it has potential for awkward hilarity.

Tuesday sees Mike Coumatos and Bill Scott guesting on the program. I can't quite gather what they'll be talking about, but it sounds like an imagined scenario of what war will be like when our enemies can take out our satellites. Could be good, depending on what they bring to the table.

Wednesday is all about consciousness with Stephan A. Schwartz. Meh. Schwartz will apparently try and tie this in to global warming, showing that the "greenie" fad extends all the way to esoterica. Could be decent, but will probably be a tad too dry. Next week's Lost, meanwhile, looks amazing, and I'm leaving for San Diego the next morning, so it's highly unlikely that I'll even listen to this one.

No word on the Thursday guest. The last few week, the Thursday night slot has been a real wildcard, so I expect the same here. Not to be a douche, but I thought they brought in an additional producer back in January to "help out". Since then, the show has been more rag tag than ever.

In total, it's all downhill after Saturday's double shot of excellence. Unless they pull a rabbit out of their hat somewhere early in the week or on Tuesday, this is a dreadful looking week.

This Week in C2C History

5.4.2006 : TBA isn't something new. It's been going on for a while. But, back when it was still a novelty, C2C wasn't so great at filling in that TBA slot ... "A couple of weeks ago, after Noory hosted a four hour Open Line session, I worried that he was becoming an Open Line addict. For a while, it seemed like he'd kept the demons in check. Until this week, when he filled the TBA slot with ... Open Lines. So we had OL on Wednesday and we'll be having it again on Friday this week. If you think I listened to this "special" Open Lines, then you haven't been reading much of this column before. Of course I skipped it and caught up on the weekend's episodes.

Apparently, the "special topic line" was the "Time to Vent Line", where callers would bitch and moan about something and Noory would play Dr. Phil or something. Since I couldn't get through on the TTV Line, allow me to vent here : No one likes Open Lines. Stop doing them so much. I hate them ! I hate them ! I hate them ! Bring back Jordan Maxwell !! Wow. I do feel better. Thanks, Noory." (binnall report, 5.5.2006)

5.4.2005 : The beginning of the Corsi Era. The first documented appearance of Jerome Corsi on C2C. He has gone on to appear an astounding 25 more times in the last 2 years.

5.3.2005 : An all-time classic episode that only gets better with age ... The Bigfoot Roundtable. It's not wonder we've not seen a sequel, it could never live up to this legendary festivus. Witness the hilarity :

"Firstly, it seemed like Tom Biscardi, the co-guest of the night, was looking for a fight from the get-go. First he rails on the "academics" who study Bigfoot, but not before asking Loren Coleman, the other co-guest, if he was a PhD.

Enter Smokey Crabtree and you've got a full-on radio train wreck. Smokey obviously doesn't like Coleman. Coleman seems to think Smokey's "skeleton" is not what he says it is. Biscardi is embroiled in his own turf war with Coleman, who he seems to perceive as an "academic entering Bigfootery". Smokey calls out Coleman for disbelieving his skeleton story, at one point alleging that Coleman is "lying to the American people" or some other outlandish statement. Biscardi, of course, sides with Smokey and Coleman seems to be just checking the clock and wondering when this show will end. " (binnall report, 5.6.5)
