5.12.6

It's been raining for days. I'm developing a serious case of the prune hands, folks, and that ain't good. This is binnall, this is the binnall report, and we are back again to discuss esoterica's most popular radio show Coast to Coast AM on this soggy evening.

This week, we look back at how Terri Garr's niece held up as C2C guest host and talk about John Lear's appearance on the show. We look ahead to the return of Jim Marrs to C2C amongst other highlights for next week. I get called out by an observant reader and receive correspondence from a UK listener in the mailbag. Joe Fex makes the jump from mailbag to BoA : Audio guest and there's a preview of that in here as well. We look back to C2C history with appearance from both Hoagland and his special lady friend Robin Falkov. Plus, we've got the inside scoop on C2C Films version of "RV" that never made it to theaters, only in Hot Newz, of course.

So we've got a full dose of esoteric tomfoolery. All you have to do is read on ...

The Week That Was

We left off last week with The Noor about to embark on another adventure of Friday into Saturday Open Lines. The first hour pop-in was Jerome Corsi, on to talk about Iran as usual. Corsi is racking up quite a number of C2C appearances over the last year or so. It may be time for a Corsi counter is all I'm saying.

"Ian" on Saturday evening had Ann Finkbeiner on to talk about her book "The Jasons". Try as I might, I managed to miss this episode. Sorry, Ian. I'll try better next time. Word I got was that it was pretty good.

Saturday night in The Bell Zone, Art was still in the process of moving to the Philippines and in his place was Lisa Garr as guest host. Her guest was Gregg Braden, of "God Code" fame. He was on to talk about consciousness, ancient wisdom, and other nebulous topics. But weren't we all listening to hear Terri Garr's niece ? I was.

I thought she was, in a word, sultry. Good energy, good voice, a seemingly good knowledge of esoterica. She's a keeper. Twas good to have a woman hosting C2C for the first time in almost two years, since Barbara Simpson went missing. I'm all for more Garr. I think she's earned a second shot.

That said, I didn't get too much out of the actual Braden interview as it was just beyond my realm of interest. I hung in there for a while, but it was too alternative science oriented for me. No fault of Garr's, of course. I should also note the first two minutes of the second hour of the show as the most unintentionally erotic, and hilarious, two minutes of C2C in quite some time. Perhaps I just have a dirty mind, I don't know.

Sunday, The Noor was working the weekend once again and his guest was William Thomas, who was discussing military mind control. Interesting stuff. Thomas also brought out some mysterious dude billed only as "hank" who supported William's stuff about military mind control going on in Iraq. Pretty good episode, though Noory was hyping it like he was going to break a massive story and it never really amounted to much.

Monday, The Noor remained the same, but the guest this time was Dr. John DeSalvo, talking, ostensibly, about Civil War era prophet Andrew Jackson Davis. My main gripe with this episode is that it turned into an extended discussion on the Great Pyramids for much of the show. Apparently, DeSalvo is also a Pyramids researcher and there are rumours of a big discovery going on down in Egypt, so it was mildly informative. The stuff on Davis was interesting, but it's hard to get excited about someone from the Civil War era predicting the discovery of Pluto when it is well known now. Perhaps if this was a decade or so post-Pluto discovery, I'd be more enthralled.

Noteworthy was the first hour pop-in, none other than the Father of Modern Day Ufology Stanton Friedman to discuss the UK UFO story that broke over the weekend. Friedman, as usual, brought the goods big time. My only problem with the pop-in was when they opened up the phone lines and some nut felt the need to share his UFO sighting with Friedman. Dude, you've got one of the most influential alternative researchers of the century on the show and you want to tell us your UFO story ? I thought they screened those calls out. Nonetheless, it was classic Friedman and a keeper for those of us who adore the man I call Frieds.

Tuesday featured the C2C debut of Jessica Utts talking about her role in studying the statistics of remote viewing. Utts filled the TBA slot that I had projected for Jordan Maxwell or Steve Quayle, rendering me 0 for 2 in TBA predictions. Damn.

Utts brought some good stuff, but this episode never really got out of the starting blocks. It also had the telltale sign of a dog episode, when Noory went to phone lines an hour earlier, rendering the actual interview portion a mere hour.

Wednesday, Michael Tsarion was out, Loren Coleman was in, and I wasn't too upset about it. Both are stellar guests and it is always nice to get an update from Coleman who remains tops in his field and C2C's go to guy for answers on crypto stuffs. As usual, Noory pushed his "dinosaur theory", much to my delight and tried to get Loren to open up to the possibilities of dinosaurs still roaming the Earth. Way to never give up the ghost, Noor, I respect that, despite the inherent foolishness of the "dinosaur theory".

As expected, Thursday's episode was a barn burner of epic proportions as John Lear returned to C2C for the first time in two years. Just a fantastic episode for sheer entertainment value alone. The usual grave pronunciations from Lear, including that there is life like us on every planet in the solar system and that there is an alternative space program. I doubt the former but believe the latter.

Hoagland showed up at the mid-point to wax poetic with Lear and to plug some upcoming conference. Noory was serviceable as the host with Lear, but it failed to have that Art Bell / John Lear mystique that many of us love. Noory's decision to play excerpts of the Art Bell episode only highlighted the difference between the two hosts and was probably a bad idea, but I can see where Noory was coming from, what with the infamy of the Lear Test.

As expected there was a lot of arguing back and forth amongst C2C hardcores as to the veracity of Lear's stuff and that is to be expected. If one takes it with a grain of salt, it's a hell of an episode. If you are easily irked by broad claims, you probably loathed the episode. I did love the story of Lear smoking grass while flying a plane, which has to be a violation of all sorts of laws. Good on ya, John.

A decent week that didn't quite live up to the on-paper potential, but it had its moments.

The Week That Is

We kick it off tonight with the usual Friday into Saturday Open Lines. The Noor will surely have a pop-in on hand, but who it may be is anyone's guess right now. Prediction on Special Topic Line : Something involving Mother's Day.

If you like Ian Punnett, you may need to get a new pair of pants after finding out what's on tap for this weekend. I call it "Eight Hours of Ian", but feel free to title it yourself. You see, first we'll be having, in place of a fresh episode of "Ian", the historic debut episode of "Ian" from this past January (1.27.2006) featuring R. Gary Patterson talking about rock and roll.

Normally, I lambast C2C for offering up too current re-broadcasts, but I'll endorse this one. "Ian" needs to be an island unto itself, so a rebroadcast of C2C proper would undermine the entire premise of the show. Secondly, C2C never offered the first month of "Ian" on MP3, so this will now settle down those hardcores out there who feel the need to catalog every minute of Ian being on Coast. Don't be ashamed, you know you're out there.

As if that's not enough Ian Punnett, the venerable IP will return to the C2C mothership, guest hosting for Art Bell on Saturday night. Didn't Ian say like 3 weeks ago that he turned down this very guest host gig because he wanted to focus on "Ian" ? I'm confused. Ian's guest on Saturday night will be Daniel Pinchbeck, who will throw his hat into the 2012 arena and hope to hit the C2C lottery in a few years.

Sunday night sees a re-broadcast of Art Bell's interview with George Lutz from 12.27.2002. Lutz passed away this past week, making C2C's replay of the episode all the more genius. I cannot fathom that the person who chose this replay (which makes a ton of sense) was the same person who put the GIS replay on few weeks back after the GIS were on the previous weekend. Regardless, this is a good episode, if I recall correctly. Also, it is a mere 4 days prior to Art Bell's "final show" and right before The Noor ascended to his seat of power as C2C main host. So it is mildly historic in that sense as well.

Monday, it's the dreaded TBA. A TBA on Monday ? I'm aghast. Last week, I hoped for Jordan Maxwell, figured it would be Steve Quayle and it turned out to be Jessica Utts. With skills like that, I should be on the predictions 2007 special episode. I'll go with the same prediction again for the third consecutive week. One day I will be correct and this place will go nuts.

Batten down the hatches and get ready for esoteric goodness of the highest caliber, as Tuesday will feature the C2C return of Jim Marrs ~! Ladies and gentleman, if there was no Jim Marrs, there would be no BoA, no binnall report, and no foolishness from yours truly. He cast the spark that lit the flame, that became the underground inferno. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "I'd take a bullet for Jim Marrs."

He'll be on Tuesday night to talk about all forms of esoterica, as he is wont to do. If you haven't heard Jim Marrs before, you should love him. If you have heard him before, you should be psyched he will be on. If you're not a Jim Marrs fan, I don't like you as a person.

Dr. John Abramson will be the Wednesday guest, discussing "Misled Medicine", which is basically doctors giving bad advice and some new studies on said bad advice. I can't keep track of the vast array of C2C doctors, but I know there are a few that are excitable as hell and usually just as ornery at the medical establishment. Abramson may be one of them or he may be boring as all get out. If his stories of bad doctors are funny, graphic, or shocking, he just might lure me in.

Thursday we get down with Tom Horn, making his C2C debut. He's an "esoteric researcher" (hey, that's my title) who will be talking about alien hybrids and stargates. Yikes. Sounds like a barnburner. I can't see how you can miss with a topic like this, so it should be quality as long as it doesn't devolve into him talking about how he read all of Sitchen's books and now wants to regurgitate them for us.

BoA : Audio, Season One

This Week : Joe Fex, Alternatives in Sasquatch and Bigfoot Research. A wild and wooley edition of BoA : Audio where we talk with Bigfoot researcher Joe Fex on some bizarre Bigfoot theories and stories. We discuss the bizarre Janice Carter Coy case from Tennessee, phantom panthers, Fex's theories that Bigfoot is more than just an unevolved ape, and reaction of cryptozoology at large to the "paranormal Bigfoot" theory.

His website is : http://www.ufothinktank.com/apexresearch/index.html

Next Week : Week Off.

I've reached a minor clip in my taping process and will also be meeting with some of my high powered LA television friends here in Boston for the weekend, so it's best to take a week off to attend to longer term plans. Chew on that for a while.

binnall report mailbag

Letter #1 :

love the reports binnall, but I have a couple of questions...

In this week's report, you called Ian's previous two weeks (before the Linda Godfrey episode) "subpar" yet in last week's report you said...

"Saturday's Ian featured the Dr. Len Horowitz talking about evolution and vibration. I skipped out on this one, sorry, Ian"

If you skipped it, how did you know that it was subpar?

Secondly, in this report you discuss how we hate open lines - "no one likes open lines" is your direct quote. From the reactions of those (myself included) whom I post with on this forum, we LOVE open lines. I know there are those like yourself who dislikes them, but I'd say the percentages are about 50/50, hardly condusive to saying 'no one' likes them.

Just a couple of thoughts from outside the C2C beltway...

- Stone X

Well, I knew it would come to this. I've been skating along for a while now with a bad habit and it was only a matter of time someone called me out and, trust me, it's for the best. This "letter" actually came via the Streamlink message boards, where "the binnall report" was born and raised, so I knew it had to be put in this week's mailbag.

Stone X :

You are spot on in both points. First of all, the more easier of the two, I mistakenly counted backwards last week when I was adding up the "sub par" Ian episodes and forgot about the Len Horowitz episode that was the buffer between Sean David Morton / "Numbers Lady" and Linda Godfrey. So, as you pointed out, I mis-identified the Len Horowitz episode as "sub par" when I had, in fact, not heard it.

On the second, more important point, you are also correct. Sometimes here in the binnall report I get to frothing at the mouth and end up speaking in generalities that do not apply for the C2C audience at large. Some folks like Ed Dames. Some folks dig Phil Plait. Some folks are Open Lines fans. Nothing wrong with that. And while I was ranting in the form of a joke, I did not mean to speak as if I were speaking for the C2C fan base at large.

1000 apologies to all the Open Lines fans out there. And thanks for your response Stone X.

Letter #2 :

Hello from Birmingham,England just dropping a line to say great site, really enjoy the content, the audio files are fantastic, your guests are all top quality ,one of the best sites on the net ,keep it up Mr Binnall, u rock,

Cheers

Wendy

Yes ! Another letter from a UK reader / listener. Don't listen to Noory, the BoA pandemic is real and it is spreading to Europe. When and if this will necessitate a binnall of america European Tour is beyond me, but we all know it is going to happen in the not too distant future.

Thanks for listening to the show, Wendy. It's the support of the listeners that have made BoA : Audio the underground phenomenon that is sweeping esoterica.

This Week in C2C History

5.12.2005 : The Noor got all philosophical with guest Charles Coulombe. A friend of the late Fr. Malachi Martin, Coulombe pontificated on any number of topics like, "angels, demons, the Devil, exorcism, and other "preternatural" topics" as well as "vampires, fairies and witchcraft". (c2c.com).

5.12.2004 : Two years ago today saw a rare appearance from Richard C. Hoagland's better half, Dr.Robin Falkov. Sounding like someone who spends a lot of time with RCH, she "discussed alternative medicine issues, and expressed concern that our health freedom rights were being eroded." (c2c.com)

5.12.2003 : Speaking of Sir Hoagland, he appeared 3 years ago today to forward a new space conspiracy theory and to rally the C2C fandom to harangue NASA. Get a pencil and paper ready ! "Hoagland believes they may be trying to hide the fact that NASA was aware the shuttle was doomed shortly after takeoff. He suggested faxing Senator John McCain's office to demand the hearings be made public." (c2c.com)

5.12.1997 : Iran was in the news in a totally different light than today, "A 7.1 quake reported in Iran. 2004 people dead and so many more injured. Art says they need help and we should give it. Art says the average Iranian person is no different than you and me." (artbell.com cd rom)
