It's official ... I have Dice K mania. Baseball season is in full bloom and I couldn't be happier. Strangely enough, we had a bunch of snow here in Boston this week, but it was actually rather nice and reminded me of the just passed holiday season. The computer has yet to be fixed, but it's all good as the laptop is doing a great job for now. The glass is half full, my friends, and everything's coming up Milhouse.

This week, we'll look back at a triumvirate of great episodes on Coast to Coast AM, including the return of Father Andrew Wingate, which elicited cheers throughout BoA HQ. From there, we'll look ahead to a potentially good week that includes Art Bell taking on Bigfoot again. Given that we are on Spring Break, there's no discussion of BoA : Audio, instead we go right into the mailbag, which discusses Facebook v. Myspace, we also look back into the C2C vault at when Steve Quayle was the Jerome Corsi of his day, and, of course, Noory joining a popular basic cable reality show, only in Hot Newz.

The sun just set and the weekend is about to begin. So this must be the binnall report ...

The Week That Was

When we last left off, The Noor was about to kick off Friday into Saturday Open Lines with Fife Symington and James Fox in the first hour to talk about the Phoenix Lights. Despite my strong feelings about this whole story, I didn't find the time to listen to this interview yet. I'm almost so disgusted by it all, I don't want to hear what Barney Fife Symington has to say, but, then again, I suppose I should hear his side of the story at some point. As noted last week, this whole thing reeks of publicity stunt to push DVD sales of "Out of the Blue" and not a genuine UFO story. Standard Open Lines followed.

Saturday on "Ian", Ian did his best Rense impression, welcoming Frosty Wooldridge to the early show to talk about immigration. We can only hope that Webster Tarpley soon follows. I missed this one, as we were still in flux due to the computer issues here @ BoA HQ. And, sadly, Lesley had no C2C Rewind last weekend, so we'll just assume it was another solid outing from Ian.

Saturday night on the C2C mothership, Art Bell had Evelyn Paglini as the guest to discuss magic. I missed this one, but you know what you get with Pags. Probably pretty good.

Sunday night, Ed Dames returned to Coast to wax poetic about remote viewing and other crap. I had just finished my appearance on Radio Misterioso as this episode started, so I skipped this year's April Fool, Dames. Much like Pags, but on a far lower level, you know what you get with Dames. Probably morbidly entertaining.

By Monday, I was finally back in the swing of things and thankfully, so was The Noor. Unfortunately the guest was William Buhlman to discuss OBEs. I wanted to like this one a lot, but Buhlman kind of struck me as a bit of a know-it-all. The material was decent, but the delivery was lacking. Moderately good episode.

Tuesday night was perhaps the best episode of the week, with Joe Bullard as the guest with the topic being Coral Castle. I was expecting this to be mediocre, but it turned out to be very good. Fascinating alternative history stuff on the early life of Edward Leedskalnin and great contemporary stuff about Bullard's "feud" with the owners of Coral Castle and the CC's place at the bottom of the barrel for Florida's tourist attractions. Going on throughout the interview, Noory solved the mystery of who owns the CC, to hilarious effect, and he also asked if Leedskalnin was "kinky". That, alone, will net this episode a Coastie nomination. An episode worth catching if you missed it.

Wednesday night was crypto night with guest Jonathan Downes discussing all sorts of crypozoological stuffs in a pretty damn good episode. No less than fifteen minutes into the interview, Noory, true to form, asked Downes about dinosaurs possibly living on Earth. I swear, it's got to be some kind of inside joke now. For those keeping score at home, Downes said something like "probably not". But then he told a story about a magical snake which won't help quell Noory's dinosaur fetish.

Poor Jonathan also had a wild coughing fit about halfway through the interview and insisted that he was eating his breakfast in bed. Oh, I forgot to mention that he was a rather jolly Englishman, so the previous sentence actually makes more sense. And, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Noory said, "Gigantopissicuss" and nearly make me soil myself with laughter.

Overall it was a quality episode. Good material, strong anecdotes, and entertaining stuff all around. Perhaps the best cryptozoological episode so far this year, but that's not giving it enough credit. If not for the strong episodes that preceded and followed this one, this could be best of the week, so much so that I wouldn't be surprised if a different reviewer ranked it as best.

Wrapping up the week was the long awaited (by me) return of prophetic visionary Father Andrew Wingate to Coast to Coast. For those of you out of the loop, Fr. Wingate caused a minor ruckus in April of 2005 when he insisted that his prophetic sources informed him that the, then very sick, Pope would not die. Literally within hours of Wingate saying this, the Pope did indeed die. Pre-dating Biscardigate and the Sylvia Browne mining fiasco, Wingate was truly ahead of his time. (See HERE and HERE for more details on Wingate's infamous Papal faux pas) After a one off appearance to explain his botched Papal prediction, Wingate was subsequently shown the door and exiled from Coast to Coast ... until Thursday.

Literally two years to the day of his ostensible banning, Fr. Wingate returned and rained hellfire and brimstone on the Coast audience once again. Almost nobody spins a post-apocalyptic yarn as well as Fr. Wingate, who laid out a point-by-point scenario for when the Antichrist takes over the world. He also managed to sneak in his retarded pet theory that gays cause natural disasters, eliciting a chuckle from me, who remembered when Noory got all offended by that theory a few years back.

Wingate sounded younger and healthier than I remembered him. His "prophecy" remained the same as it always has, which was both good and bad. He wasn't as zany as I remembered him to be, either, but maybe he was on his best behavior since it was his big return. Either way, he's been missed and it's great to have him back on the show. Sadly, Noory pulled the plug on Wingate with an hour to go in the interview, which may not bode well for future Wingate stuffs, unless he turns out to be *gasp* right about something.

All in all, a fairly strong week, held together by C2C staples over the weekend and a trifecta of good to very good guests mid-week. I picked a good week to get back into the groove.

The Week That Is

We kick off the weekend with The Noor channeling his childhood, with guest R. Gary Patterson, C2C's resident rock and roll guru, along with Jay Richardson, son of the Big Bopper. Should be interesting. Standard Friday into Saturday Open Lines follows.

Saturday on "Ian", IP has Charles Ostman, nanoman himself, to discuss the impending showdown of technology v. resources. Despite Ostman being tagged as the nanotechnology guy, he usually brings the alternative science goods for a variety of different disciplines. I expect he will live up to that reputation with a strong "big picture" episode with Ian on Saturday.

Later on Saturday night, Art Bell's guest is Michael Shrimpton, an expert on national security and terrorism. Uh oh, could we have the makings of another "wind nut" night ? I can only hope so. No word on if Shrimpton is, in fact, erstwhile Spinal Tap member Mick Shrimpton. Probably a good episode, more so for whatever Art might say than Shrimpton.

Finally ! After long last, Art Bell goes back to the Bigfoot well on Sunday with guest Todd Standing, who will be on to talk about tracking the mighty 'Foot. Count me in, sir. As most of my readers know, I am a hardcore Bigfoot fan and it feels like forever and a day since Art had a guest on to discuss it. Potentially the best episode of the week.

Monday night, El Nooro welcomes Dr. Richard Bartlett for an interview dealing with field energy and health. Sounds rather awful. Could be decent, but it may be a snoozer. For some reason, I expect first hour hijinks to make up for it.

Break out the shovels and get back to work on those bomb shelters, as Tuesday sees Kathleen and Michael Gear coming on the show to explain how "modern civilization is doomed" by cyclical overpopulation and climate change. I love it. I'm only afraid it will be too much "evidence" and not enough talk of doom, thus rendering it boring. I'll go in with high hope and see how it pans out.

Wednesday night, Craig R. Lang is the guest and the topic is abductions. Lately, C2C abduction episodes have been more "hit" than "miss", so I suspect this one will be good. I'll be interested in hearing if Lang falls into the good or bad alien camp. Has potential.

No word on the Thursday night guest, but I'll nominate Andre Eggelletion for a return appearance, as he's been gone for far too long. That said, it will probably end up being Jerome Corsi or someone equally turd-like.

I'd say its a halfway decent selection of episodes on tap for next week. Lots of on-paper potential for Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Saturdays are usually always good and Monday is the only real downer. Also, anything could happen on Thursday. So there you go.

binnall report mailbag

hey tim, ive been a big fan of your radio show for over a year now.

would love it if you'd accept our friend add, we're trying to boost our friend count up to 2012 friends.

anyway, love your work, your the same age as me, so it's great to see others out there with an interest in UFOs!

Yes, more young people in Ufology. The squeaky wheel gets the grease folks and I'm smelling a UFO youth movement afoot.

I actually received this message on myspace. And, of course, I added Brett as a friend. You can check out his profile HERE.

This reminds me of an ongoing debate I have with Ufological pundit Paul Kimball regarding Facebook v. Myspace. Kimball swears by Facebook, while I remain firmly behind Myspace. I will agree with Kimball that Facebook seems to be better for serious networking, but when it comes to social networking sites, I live and die by my access to pictures of half nude college girls. Hence ... myspace wins. Hey, at least I'm honest.

By the way, you can check out the BoA page on myspace @ www.myspace.com/binnall And, despite Brett's trepidation, I'll accept just about anyone as friends.

Question ? Comment ? Gripe ? Query ? Love Letter ? Write to tbinnall@hotmail.com and we'll sort it all out.

This Week in C2C History

4.6.2004 : Remember when Steve Quayle was the go to guy on C2C, whenever Iran got all crazy or there was a terror warning. You know, the pre-Jerome Corsi era ? Aside from who's saying the words, it appears not much has changed ... "Tuesday's first hour guest, author Steve Quayle commented on the escalation of conflict in Iraq. Quayle said the Middle East is getting set for a conflagration, which he believes is being fueled in part by guerilla fighters who have come into Iraq from Syria and Iran." (c2c.com)

4.10.2003 : An all time classic episode and, I believe, the interview that formed the, at times, creepy and, always, unbreakable bond between The Noor and Richard C. Hoagland. RCH's first full episode interview in the new Noory regime saw a rambunctious Hoags tie the Iraq war into Mars, with added side tangents about hidden messages in news footage and Sumeria. Noory seemed all worked up by the wildness of it all, as by the end of the interview The Noor claimed to see a facsimile of "The Face" on top of a building at the Iraqi Airport. And, like that, the Noory / Hoagland alliance was born.
