Egads. I'm seriously in a world of hurt. If there are seven levels of hell, I must be somewhere between four and five, rinsing my mouth with warm salt water every two hours, trying with all my might to cut down to a reasonable number of cigarettes a day, and being limited to a diet of soup and milkshakes. For those of you out of the loop, I had some fairly painful dental surgery on Wednesday morning and have been struggling with the aftermath ever since. As a result, following C2C has been put on the back burner whilst I deal with the pain and discomfort of this situation. I expect to be back at full strength by this time next week (let's hope).
In the meantime, we take a half-hearted look back at what was offered by C2C over the past week, we look ahead to what is on tap for next week, we delve into the far past with This Week in C2C History. We dip into the binnall report mailbag and also preview tomorrow's BoA : Audio with Jerry E. Smith. And, of course, we finally get around to the parody you've all been waiting for ... Coastback Mountain in Hot Newz.
It's thrown together like your grandma's quilt. And while it's worn and tattered, but it's also made with love and should keep you warm. It's this week's binnall report.
The Week That Was
Sigh. I haven't missed this much C2C in over a year. But, with dental surgery on Wednesday morning and subsequent insane pain and general confusion throughout the rest of the week, there's precious little I did other than lie around in my pajamas all day and sleep all night. And the time before the surgery was spent worrying about it and making sure I had my affairs in order in the event I expired on the operating table.
So ... I didn't catch much Coast, if any, this past week. I'll take you through the run down of episodes, but don't expect much in the way of a review, because chances are I didn't hear it. Don't worry, I'm working feverishly to catch up on the ones I missed, and there were some good ones mixed in there last week, and I hope to have some thoughts on the episodes at a later date. There's a good chance I will have reviews up for some of the episodes in next week's "binnall report", but no promises. Anyhoo, let's look at The Week That Was.
We left off last week with Art Bell returning to host Friday night Open Lines, since Noory was in D.C. doing some kind of radio work. Bell welcomed Dr. Roy Spencer, to talk about climate change for the first half of the night. He followed up with Open Lines, including an interesting moment when Noory's nemesis "Oscar, Son of Satan" called Art.
Saturday's Ian featured Dick Peterson, to talk about the controversy surrounding the song "Louie Louie". Seeing as I missed this episode, we'll turn the review over to BoA's Lesley, who had this to say about Peterson's appearance, "I really had thought this show would suck, but it didn't. Peterson had a pretty entertaining story to tell about the song and his legal struggle. I won't go into the story of his sexual naivete, but it was both sad and funny at the same time."
Saturday night's Bell Zone was all about NDEs, with Dr. Sam Parnia. From what I heard, it was vaguely interesting. Worth checking out if you are into that type of research.
Sunday's Bell Zone was highlighted by controversial guest Dr. Rama Coomaraswamy, talking about the Catholic Church. From what I could gather, Rama was pretty extreme in his views, likening homosexuality to being possessed or some such nonsense. I missed the episode, but it is tops on my "to listen to" list.
Monday saw the return of C2C's beloved, and sometimes loathed, science advisor Richard C. Hoagland in the first hour to talk about a news story about "red rain". theusofe.com's baemark claims that RCH appeared last week at some point, but I've been unable to locate it just yet. Anyway, Hoags was all over this "red rain" story and saying it may blow the lid off of the NASA cover up. Don't hold your breath, kids. Despite the hyperbole, it was good to hear Sir Hoagie back on the radio after all this time (a month).
The full guest for Monday was J. Marvin Herndon, talking about geophysics. This episode I did catch, unfortunately. Talk about bland as hell. Herndon was all about how the center of the earth was a nuclear reactor or something insane like that. It was interesting for his perspective on being a maverick scientist, but his theory was a tad to dry for my tastes. So call it a mixed bag.
And then came Tuesday, where I was half out of it, preparing for my impending dental surgery. And, of course, C2C brought back one of my all time favorite guests Andre Eggelletion for the first hour. Damn ! The MP3 has been downloaded and will be listened to this weekend. Andre was talking about the UAE Port Deal controversy.
The full show guest on Tuesday was Philip Gardiner, talking about ancient religions, particularly worship of snakes. From what I heard of the episode, Gardiner stood out from other C2C guests in that he didn't believe in ET progenitors, which goes against the grain of many other Coast guests. Sounds good. I'll be checking that out for sure.
Wednesday featured another of my favorite guests, Dr. Michael Salla, talking about weapons in space and ETs. Salla is actually pretty controversial in the Ufology field, because he brings in a lot of material from some dubious sources, but his stuff is always interesting. He cited the infamous Eisenhower-ET meeting and the work of Ryan Wood on UFO crashes to discuss what may be going on with space based weapons. Worthy of checking out if you are a Ufology buff, like me. I'm glad to see Coast doing another UFO episode, as it seems like it's been a while since they had a full episode guest on to discuss UFOs.
By Thursday night, I was writhing in pain and the thought of listening to Noory just wasn't on my mind. He had David Weiner on to talk about what makes psychopaths and sociopaths tick along with various other observations on brain chemistry. Sounds mildly interesting. If I have time, I'll check it out, but I'm not going to sweat it if I miss it.
Again, I'm very sorry to my dear readers for having missed so much Coast this week. Every year or so, a week like this comes along where I am otherwise unable to attend to my usual routine of tracking The Noor and his exploits on C2C. I fully expect to be back in action by the weekend and will catch next week's episodes for sure. Hopefully, this will be a mere blip on the radar.
The Week That Is
We kick off the week with The Noor hosting his usual Friday into Saturday Open Lines. If Oscar and Dr. Morgus aren't hilariously corny enough, The Noor will turn the 4th hour of the show over to his "future incarnation" Dexter Monterrey. For those of you out of the loop, Monterrey is some character that Dr. Bruce Goldberg made up, claiming that he is who Noory will be in the future. Anyway, it seems like The Noor wants to have some fun, so he will be channeling Monterrey and pretending they are one in the same for that final hour. Sounds ... embarassing.
Ian and his early show will feature Andrew Colarik, talking about cyber terrorism. Sounds interesting.
The Bell Zone kicks off on Saturday with the C2C return of Peter Davenport. Shockingly, Peter hasn't been on Coast since July of 2005, so his return has been a long time coming. In the past, his full episode appearances with Art have been full of heady discussion on "big picture" UFO stuff. Hopefully, they'll go there on Saturday.
Sunday night's Bell Zone features Dr. Evelyn Paglini, talking about, what else, magic. Art and Pags have some good chemistry, so this should be an entertaining, if nothing else, episode.
The Noor kicks off the week with Catherine Lanigan, talking about angelic intervention on Monday. Sounds like lots of good anecdotes and some nebulous theory. Could be good, could be awful, we'll see.
Tuesday, Nick Redfern looks to bring about the best episode of the week, as he'll be talking about Ufology and how the government monitors those in the field. Should be some fascinating "big picture" analysis of the field in general and less "lights in the sky" than we usually get when hearing about Ufology.
Wednesday is TBA. No word yet on the guest. I'm hoping for a big name, ala Dr. Michael Salla who filled the TBA slot this past week. As usual, I'm pulling for a Jordan Maxwell appearance. I also recall that Noory said that David Icke would be appearing at some point in March, so it wouldn't surprise me to see him announced later this week for that TBA slot.
Thursday, we'll be hearing from Neal Adams, comic book legend, who had some sort of new model for the universe. I'm unfamiliar with Adams and his work, but I have a sinking feeling we'll be hearing a lot about his work on the Batman comic as well as his new theories on the universe.
Decent week on-paper, with Davenport and Redfern being strong candidates for best of the week and no episode sticking out as looking particularly awful.

Plus tons more.

I have someone about 70% lined up, but we'll see if it comes to fruition. If he doesn't surface, I'll probably end up taking the weekend off.
binnall report mailbag
Letter #1
guess we are related / my name is eric binnall / whats yours /
I left this letter "as is" so you could see the kind of mail I get from wayward binnalls the world over. I haven't had the chance to write back to "eric binnall" yet, but something tells me he is a child or living in a foreign land. You'd think if he found binnallofamerica.com, he'd be able to figure out my name, but perhaps my first name of "Tim" is well hidden at the site. I'll report back, perhaps in next week's mailbag, what young (?) eric has to say.
Letter #2
Tim,
Read any good books lately ?
James in Long Island, NY
Actually, James, I'm in the midst of reading two different books that are both quite long, Peter Lavenda's "Sinister Forces - The Nine" as well as Richard Dolan's excellent "UFOs and the National Security State". I find that I barely have the time to sit down and read a book nowadays and those two have been on my "to do list" for quite some time. When I'm not digging into a lengthy esoteric research book, I also read Dave Meltzer's "The Wrestling Observer" on a weekly basis and the Pro Wrestling Torch weekly newsletter.

This Week in C2C History
3.11.2004 : A legendary night of Coast to Coast AM, as Alex Jones made his triumphant debut on the show, paving the way for his mainstay status on the show today. This is a must hear episode for AJ fans and a proverbial "meet Alex Jones" for both The Noor and pure Coast fans. From the C2C archive recap : "I don't have an axe to grind," but rather "I just want the truth," said filmmaker and radio host Alex Jones."
3.12.2003 : From the unintentionally hilarious files, we heard from Sir Laurence Gardner, who was appearing to discuss he love of "mysterious white powder". From the C2C archive recap : "This white powder was derived from gold and had "magical and exotic properties," Gardner said. He posited that the powder was taken internally by the Pharaohs and that it increased their perceptions and longevity. "These substances would change the physical being of the person," Gardner said, adding that they may have actually started to glow."
3.8.1999 : This past month's health scare isn't the first time Richard C. Hoagland has fought off death and won. Witness his struggles from 7 years ago : "Art announces that Richard Hoagland has suffered a heart attack in Miami last Saturday morning. Art talks about Richard's lifestyle and how much of a shock this is since Richard is only 53, not overweight and didn't smoke. " (artbell.com cd rom)
End Notes
That does it for this week's edition of "the binnall report". Sorry for the lack of super strong material this week, folks, you're dealing with one wounded puppy. I'll be back next week, stronger, wittier, and having heard more Coast than this week, I swear.
Plugs : Tomorrow @ binnallofamerica.com, it's Jerry E. Smith (Part 2 of 2) on BoA : Audio. Sunday, smoker dave. Monday, Trickster's Realm. Tuesday, Lesley's Grey Matters returns. Wednesday, Khyron's The K-Files returns. Thursday, Hot Newz. And next Friday, the binnall report one more time. binnallofamerica.com ... your source for esoteric insanity on a daily basis.
Ah. I gotta go rinse my mouth with warm salt water and then eat my milkshake dinner. Until next week, this is binnall ... signing off.
