2.3.6

Um, where did January go ? Seriously. Time is flying and I'm scared. Nonetheless, February is here and we are back with another edition of "the binnall report".

This week, we look back at a big week of Coast with the return of The Bell Zone, the debut of "Ian", and two guests bumped from the weekday lineup. The week that is looks at what is to come in the first full week of February on C2C. This Week in C2C History looks back at the final Coast appearance of Eugene Mallove, 2 years ago today. binnall report mailbag has letters on my typos and the Noory "Predictions Special". We preview this week's BoA : Audio with Colm Kelleher and, of course, Hot Newz features George Noory's Groundhog Day.

It's all here and much more, so let's get down to it.

The Week That Was

We left off last week with The Noor welcoming Marc Harzman as the 1st Hour Pop-In to talk about odd auctions and what have you. Sadly, I missed Harzman, so I can't tell you if it was any good, but is sure sounds like it was. Then, from what I hear, things took a turn for the worse with the "Fortune Cookie Line" for its Open Lines, showing it will steep to new lows in finding the lowest common denominator for OL.

Saturday saw the debut of C2C spin off "Ian". As many of you know, the good folks at C2C picked up my "Ian" poster for their main website, which proved to be a boom for BoA. Good stuff. Hope all y'all who found us via the "Ian" poster are enjoying the ride on the esoteric underground.

Anyway, Ian debuted his new show, which I call "Ian", on Saturday evening. It was actually quite surreal as it is just another 4 hour C2C episode earlier in the evening (for me) that comes on before the regular C2C. I kept thinking it was like 2 AM when it was really 10 PM. I was confused. I caught the first half of it and it was pretty much what you'd expect. And while I enjoyed it quite a bit, I couldn't help but feel a tad disappointed that it was so much like the regular C2C. I would have liked to have heard something a little different, perhaps format wise, but I think it will find its niche down the line. The initial guest was R. Gary Patterson, talking about rock and roll. James Chiles popped-in for the first hour.

Then came the return of The Bell Zone with Saturday's episode, hosted by Art Bell, of course, and featuring Kevin Mitnick, talking about computer stuff. I wasn't too thrilled with Mitnick, as I find his stuff too technical sometimes.

That said, the first hour guest of Lloyd Stewart Carpenter, who was on to talk about a potential polar shift. This was a great hour. First, Carpenter dazzled Art with some startling facts about how a polar shift may happen. Then, he turned all biblical and creepy and just completely ruined his point. Hilarious and odd.

Sunday night, was all about Glenn Steckling talking moon bases with Art. I listened to almost all of this one and wasn't too impressed with Steckling. It seemed like he showed two or three pictures and then just rambled most of the time. Perhaps it is because he has been around so long or something, but he didn't shine in this appearance.

Monday, The Noor weathered a storm of technical difficulties that prevented Lisa Randall from getting on the show, so he had 3 hours of "Open Lines" devoted to Premonitions, which I promptly skipped. He did, however, have angry prognosticator Gerald Celente on in the first hour, which was awesome. Celente is so angry, he needs a full episode appearance soon, just to vent a little. I just love how he rants like he is going to go out and punch someone in the face. Just great stuff.

Tuesday's episode ended January on a high note with Derrel Sims, "alien hunter" on to talk about abductions. Fantastic episode and one of the best of the month, by far. Sims was on-point and Noory was right there with him as they weaved a masterful episode of Coast. Great abduction stories and Sims had heaps of charisma and detail to his tales. A must hear, if you haven't.

Wednesday, Noory kicked off the month of February with dueling doctors, in Philip Tierno and then Len Horowitz. This was amusing as Tierno was all about the dangers of some new "staph infection". Following that, Horowitz stormed onto the show to stomp all over Tierno's stuff and offer a totally different perspective. Good episode, for the debate aspects, although I think they should have been on together to duke it out. Hopefully they will sometime.

Thursday, Noory again was dealt some unexpected madness, as John Zaffis ended up getting bumped and Jim Karol took his place, talking about magic. A pretty "light" episode of C2C, but good pop culture type stuffs and Noory was in his element with the "easy listening" level of talk.

The Week That Is

We kick off the week that is with The Noor and Open Lines. No word on who the pop-in will be, but I hear they are readying the C2C milk carton for Richard C. Hoagland, who hasn't been on in far too long.

Also, no word on who this week's guest is for "Ian". Hopefully, Punnett will be over the "first episode jitters" and be ready to rock and roll some.

The Bell Zone features Richard Tarnas on Saturday to defend astrology against debunkers. Should be interesting, as astrology is one of the most put upon disciplines in esoterica and gets a good drubbing from skeptics constantly. I expect that Art will keep him on his toes.

Sunday, we'll hear from Sir Charles Schultz, who will be on to talk about AI and alternative reality. He usually is all about Mars, so it will be interesting to see where he goes with this different topic.

Monday, The Noor brings us John Jay Harper to talk about shamanism and trances. Should be interesting. I'll be a fan for life if he puts Noory into an odd trance and makes me laugh.

Tuesday, Lori Toye makes her C2C return with more talk of earth changes and prophecy. BoA's Lesley discussed Ms. Toye in a classic Grey Matters on "Women of Coast" from this past Autumn. I've been waiting on Toye ever since then, so this should be some pay off. I hear Lori is a bit of a nutter.

Wednesday, Charles Upton will be on the show to talk about the apocalypse and how it relates to UFOs and the devil. Wow. Sounds like a wild one. Looks like "best of the week" material, on paper.

We round out the formal week with John Zaffis on to talk about exorcisms and poltergeists. Should be decent to good, depending on what Zaffis brings to the table.

Friday, I expect Noory will be hyping the Conscious Life Expo, because he will be speaking there the next day. Expect a Hoagland appearance.

Ian Punnett's poster is wrong.It is not 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. eastern time , because it's 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. pacific time. Eastern time is 3:00 ahead of pacific time which would make it 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

There's nothing quite like getting a letter correcting your work from a ten year old. Plucky young Logan saw my "Ian" spin-off poster @ the C2C website and realized that I'd botched the start time for Ian's show by listing it at 10 PM (ET), not 9 PM (ET). Thankfully, the mistake was corrected quickly after learning that I'd made such a silly error. This, my friends, is what happens when you create art like the "Ian" poster at 3 in the morning.

binnal,

Binall,

Im still waiting for your promissed review of Noory's prediction special that you stated you would review for us. Can you tell us when that will happen?

Streamlink member Dennis

Dennis actually posted this moments after last week's "binnall report" was posted, so perhaps he missed my response to a similar letter in the mailbag there. Anyway, the answer is ... now. The reviews are available now @ binnallofamerica.com. Two part review, one with straight analysis and the other with play by play. You can go HERE to find them.

This Week in C2C History

2.3.2005 : George Noory welcomed Marcus Allen, not OJ's friend, to discuss the infamous "Moon Hoax Theory". Allen was, of course, a proponent of such a hoax : "The reason for such a hoax was "basically for propaganda," so that America could demonstrate its "technological superiority over the USSR," he explained." (C2C website) Not as zany as Bart Sibrel or Eric Hufschmidt, but still pretty wild stuff.

2.3.2004 : The late, great Eugene Mallove made his final C2C appearance two years ago today to talk about Cold Fusion. Mallove would go on to be murdered outside of his childhood home a couple of months later. Mallove was known for his "no holds barred" approach to discussing alternative energy which made him a favorite in the esoteric field, including quips like this, "Interestingly, Mallove said that it is not the Big Oil companies that are seeking to suppress research. Rather it is the "academic stupidity" of establishment scientists who refuse to validate the new energy findings, and thus discourage potential venture capitalists." (C2C website) Eugene Mallove, taken too soon.

2.3.1998 : Some news of the day from the old Art Bell Show, 8 years ago, "Storms.... Atlanta: flash floods, Miami: floods, San Fransisco: High winds, power outages, patio furniture flying like missiles. Parumph: raining like cats and dogs. ... Dolphins.... Biologists have collected tissue and blood samples from the 71 dolphons who beached themselves in Massachusettes. A spokesman says they still do not know why the dolphins did this yet. 54 sperm whales beached themselves in Western Tasmania, Tuesday. Art asks, "What in the hell is going on in our oceans to cause our mammals to commit suicide?" " (artbell.com cd rom)
