2.10.6

I don't know what happened between Wednesday and today, but I am totally worn out and feeling like hot garbage. I'm all icky feeling, including that tickle in the back of the throat sensation and just overall tired as hell. Hopefully I can do something to kick this soon and be back on the track to wellness. But ... I can't let a little thing like feeling crappy stand in the way of this week's "binnall report". Bear with me if things aren't quite up to snuff this week.

We're talking a look back at a rather blase week of C2C, an upcoming week of possible good episodes, two interesting letters in the mailbag, this week in C2C history, of course, and the real Curious George in Hot Newz. Also, we preview tomorrow's BoA : Audio featuring big time disclosure activist Steve Bassett.

All that and more. Now let's do this before I vomit all over myself.

The Week That Was

We left off last week with The Noor having Marc Zicree on for half the show to talk about Star Trek. I managed to miss this, but I hear it was good stuff for you sci fi buffs. Open Lines followed, with the theme of "Fright Night", whatever that means.

Week two of "Ian" saw Ian bring back egomaniac sailor Capt. Kelly Sweeney, who was ostensibly talking about pirates. Sadly, I missed the good captain. Ian's full guest was John Tayman to discuss leprosy victims who were sent to Hawaii. You go, Ian.

The Bell Zone featured first Ed Dames as the pop-in on Saturday night, claiming to have some Bigfoot announcement that turned out to be more of the same junk he pushes about a projector in space. He also teased working on Remote Viewing nuclear devices for other countries, then clammed up when Art asked for more info.

The full guest was Richard Tarnas talking about consciousness in a really bad interview. Tarnas just couldn't deliver the goods and it was staggering from the get go. I bailed halfway through as it was just awful.

Sunday night saw Art reunited with Charles Shults to talk about artificial intelligence. Great stuff. Art and Shults have some great chemistry and, together, they produced a memorable episode. Noteworthy was the side discussion of virtual reality sex, which had me in stitches.

The Noor returned on Monday with John Jay Harper to talk about a bunch of different topics like altered states and earth changes. Despite having good intentions and good background, this episode was another clunker. Never got out of the starting blocks, it seems.

Tuesday saw the C2C return for the infamous Lori Toye, talking about her ascended masters and how they predict earth changes. As I'd heard, Toye was nutty as a fruitcake. I found it troubling that the "ascended masters" couldn't seem to master proper dates for their predictions. I was also amused that they didn't bother to predict the Tsunami of 2004 that killed tons of people and was a huge "earth change". I'm beginning to doubt these ascended masters already. Noory, sadly, was enabling her babbling by giving her a few opportunities to spin her story further into zany territory.

Wednesday was a pretty decent episode, featuring Charles Upton, who appeared to talk about UFOs and End Times. Despite what I'd hoped for, he was not crazy as sin, but that was a good thing. He seemed pretty grounded, albeit all his UFO research seemed to be gleaned from Jacques Valee books. I missed most of the End Times stuff, but what I heard sounded strong. I'll probably try and catch this one again tonight when I have time.

Thursday ended the week with John Zaffis on to talk about exorcisms. Good standard C2C ghoulish material. Zaffis had some great anecdotes and good opinions on demonic activities. A fun episode with a topic that hasn't been featured in a while.

The Week That Is

We rock it out tonight with a big appearance from the first lady of C2C, Linda Moulton Howe talking about aliens and Area 51. LMH had a strong appearance last January and looks to follow it up with another one this month. At this rate, look for Linda to be clutching a Coastie for Best C2C Regular come next December 31st. Standard Open Lines follows.

Week 3 of Ian sees Ian talking to poker player Annie Duke. I hate to be the bearer of bad news for Ian, but poker is so "last year". The hip thing is roller derby nowadays, Ian, get with the times.

The Bell Zone sees Dianne Arcangel on to talk about afterlife encounters. I'd wondered how Art would handle episodes like this that deal with death and dying, so it should be interesting to see how this one goes down. Lauren Weinstein will be on first hour to scare us all about tracking devices.

Sunday, Art welcomes C2C stalwart Howard Bloom to the show to talk about "green energy" and other alt. energy stuffs. Bloom always brings the goods and this episode should be no different. I'm looking forward to hearing how Bloom and Bell interact.

Monday, The Noor brings back Dr. David Darling to talk about gravity, dark matter, and other odd space stuffs. Darling is about as alternative as you can get while still being mainstream, so it should be a decent episode. May stray into boring territory, so be forewarned.

Tuesday, we're taking another trip to 2012, this time with Steven Hairfield, ancient text scholar. I'm going to have to have a list of 2012 related guests as we get closer to that date. Hairfield will toss into the bucket his ideas of what will happen on 2012 when he comes to C2C on Tuesday.

Wednesday, it's a double dose of guests with Richard Sauder and Bill Hamilton to talk about underground bases. Sauder knows his stuff and Hamilton is a longtime student of the UFO phenomenon. Should be killer stuff, especially if they break some new ground.

Thursday, we round out the week with John Lash, talking about pagan Europe and ancient knowledge of UFOs. Lash was one last year around this time with Art Bell and the episode was fugly. Hopefully he'll work better with The Noor.

Letter #1

Sir. Though I have never met Ian, he played a song from my 7" EP on his radio show. It was 1995, if I remember. A fan of mine sent it to him when he was at WGN radio in Chicago. The record company (North Cedar Records) executive called him and talked to him but never asked which song he was playing (there were three). Things being what they were, the exec never called him back. If you have contact with him, see if he remembers and if he'd like, with what I know must be a busy schedule, he could e-mail me at the address shown.

The EP was entitled "Acousma" and the songs were "Car Kids", "Cowboy Ghosts of Vietnam" and "Merlins' Song". My name is SR Turner. Thanks and thanks to Ian.

SRT

Yes, I get letters for Ian Punnett. I'll have you know, I've forwarded this to Ian so he can do something about it. I've no clue what else to do, but I figured it would be a fun letter to feature in our mailbag this week.

Letter #2

Tim:

Hi there. Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that I enjoy your podcasts (although I rarely agree with the folks that you have on). They're well done.

Are you going to be at the Laughlin conference in a couple of weeks? If so, perhaps we could arrange to have a coffee / beer.

Best regards,

Paul

Awww. No fair. Everyone's going to Laughlin but me. For those of you out of the loop, apparently Laughlin is the big UFO convention that everyone goes to ... except binnall. I'm hoping to make the trip in '07.

Thanks for the props on the podcasts, Paul. I try my best to give the floor to the guests and not interject too much of my opinion into the interview.

This Week in C2C History

2.10.2005 : Certifiable crackpot, JZ Knight, guested with George Noory to tell us all about her imaginary friend Ramtha, who teaches her stuff. Included amongst her ramblings was this tidbit : "Ramtha declared that he was a descendant of an advanced race of beings from beyond the North Star who came to Earth around 455,000 years ago. During his incarnation, in a period when the planet was wrapped in an atmospheric vapor, the 7-ft. tall warrior claimed that he conquered 2/3 of the planet over a 63 year period with his army of two million soldiers, Knight recounted." (from Coast website). Um ... okay then.

2.10.2004 : It was a rare look back at the history of C2C, with radio executive Alan Corbeth, who discussed how he helped Art Bell get C2C up and running, "Corbeth noted that Art had an instinctive feel for creating "night time" radio, something that had been missing from the airwaves for a long time. He also talked about how Art's program evolved from a political talk show into its current format." (from Coast website). A great episode for C2C newcomers who want to know how it all started.

2.10.1999 : The big esoteric controversy du jour at the time was the Miami Circle. Richard C. Hoagland was all about it and had Robert Ghostwolf with him to stir up trouble : "Art reads the headlines from the Miami Herald regarding the Miami Circle, the landowner says he will not delay construction any further, but he has offered to pay to have it moved. Richard Hoagland and Robert Ghostwolf will be on in the first hour with an update. The fact that the owner will not allow Native Americans to pray on the site is a hot topic. "
