11.25.5

It's Black Friday and the creeps, losers, and dweebs are at the mall waiting in line all day to get stuff that will actually be on sale for much less in few weeks. How American. Your intrepid reporter, however, remains in his pajamas, ready to unfurl the weekly madness that is the binnall report. I hope you all had a safe and joyous Thanksgiving with your loved ones.

This week's edition is packed with stuff, including my take on an outstanding week that was on Coast to Coast AM and a preview of the less than stellar line up for next week. Meanwhile, I unveil 3 of the new awards for this year's Coasties, take a look back at This Week in C2C History, tread water on BoA : Audio, and answer some letters in "tbr mailbag".

Tis the holiday season, my friends. Take a moment away from hanging decorations, fix yourself a leftover turkey sandwich, and let's dig into this week's binnall report.

The Week That Was

For reasons I can't yet recall, I missed most of Friday's episode, featuring Christopher Renstrom as the 1st Hour Pop-In. He was all about astrology of some kind, but I didn't hear it. Standard Open Lines followed.

Ian Punnett kicked off Saturday Night Punnett with an intricate apology for some sort of controversial comments made by Michael Horn on the previous week's SNP. I'm not sure what it was, but the way Ian seemed to make it worse had me in stitches. Apparently, he forwarded his e-mail complaints to Michael Horn who responded by getting into mini esoteric slapfights with the e-mailers. Way to go, Ian.

IP's guests for the full show were David Sereda and Robert Plarr, talking about alternative energy and that damned conspiracy to keep it from you and me. I missed the episode, but from what I heard, it sounded like a better than average Sereda appearance and not too technical.

I was all about Sunday's Art Bell episode, featuring the Father of Modern Day Ufology, Stanton Friedman. Finally, Friedman has come back to Coast. Awesome stuff as usual from Friedman, particularly when Art tried to defend SETI to Stanton. Frieds was having none of it and he battered SETI with criticisms that were stinging and spot-on correct. As a SETI hater, it was a proud moment.

I heard some criticism by the youngsters in the crowd who lamented something insane like "Friedman can't bring it anymore". Well, kids, Friedman took it to the hole jailhouse style and torched your asses. Serious discussion on China and that Susan Clancey "Abducted" book were all new stuffs from Friedman showing that the Master of Roswell ain't slowing down by any means.

Monday, The Noor brought together three guests to discuss the JFK Assassination, for the third consecutive year. I'm happy to see this tradition continue. Unlike last year, which saw two loons and a pretty good researcher, this year featured three solid guests.

First, we heard from Lamar Waldron, who looked at the assassination from the limited point of view of Kennedy's feud with the mafia and Robert Kennedy's role in the whole sordid affair. Good stuff. Next, we heard from Peter Lavenda who went over pretty much what he covered last month. Noory, not surprisingly, acted like this was news to him, despite conducting said interview a few weeks ago. Still, Lavenda's stuff was strong and probably the best of the three. Least impressive of the three was Joan Mellon, who was all about the infamous Garrison investigation. Mellon wasn't as bad as January "Starr" Jones from last year's special, but she wasn't great either. Good research into the Garrison case, but, sadly, no mention of Robert Thornley.

As if the week couldn't get any better, on Tuesday, Noory fulfilled my dream. As stated last week in "the binnall report" : "I'd also be satiated if they gave the TBA slot to Jim Marrs to discuss the JFK assassination, as it will be the anniversary on Tuesday. I suspect Marrs is swamped around this time of year, so that may not be possible, but I can dream." Yes ! Proof that Noory reads "the binnall report" ? I'll file that in the grey basket.

And, as expected, Marrs was awesome. I've said it before and I'll say it again right now : I'd take a bullet for Jim Marrs. No lie. I was going to shake my fist in rage that they didn't get to talk about 911, until they talked about 911 in the final hour. Some good solid info here, peppered in amongst some old gems from Marrs.

Wednesday, The Noor was all about the Open Lines. Maybe it's because I don't listen to OL very often or maybe it was because it was Thanksgiving Eve, but it seemed like the nuttiest of the nuts managed to get on the show. Starting with, of course, our old pal Richard C. Hoagland (another correct prediction from last week's "binnall report"), who talked about the Japanese Asteroid Probe, Cydonia, and schilled his "God, Man, and ET" DVD series. He also wished us all a Happy Thanksgiving and said some poignant stuff that may have made Noory cry.

Speaking of which, Noory was at his sappiest all night, which was actually pretty nice, considering it was Thanksgiving Eve. He had a call from some kid recounting a story of his car breaking down that included a gut bustingly hilarious response from Noory. That was in the first hour of Open Lines, for those of you interested in hearing it.

And, faster than you can say "candied yams", Dannion Brinkley had a pop-in later in the show. If you thought Noory was sugary, Brinkley made him seem dour by comparison. It was enough to make me want to get drunk and call an old army buddy at four in the morning and apologize for sleeping with his wife. It was that touching.

Thursday, I filled by belly with turkey and slept right through Kevin Taylor, who was on to talk about Hollow Earth. I'm planning on catching it tonight, unless I consume too much turkey leftovers.

The Week That Is

We kick off the rest of the weekend with a re-broadcast of the 8.6.2004 episode of C2C, featuring Oliver Williams talking about John Titor. I'm not quite sure why, but it seems like the Oliver Williams episodes get replayed more often than any others. I'll, of course, be skipping out on this one, as I heard it a few times before. Note that last week, I suggested a replay for tonight's episode (I must have been on a psychic bender last week).

Saturday Night Punnett had Dr. Shelley Kaehr on to talk about divination. Sounds decent. I've been giving Punnett the short shrift the last few weeks, so perhaps I'll try and catch this one.

Sunday features the second the two Art Bell November episodes, this one is with Ed Dames, of all people. I'd rather hear Bell bring back Dr. Michio Kaku, but perhaps he'll be on in a few months. After the infamous "birthday gold" debacle, I don't put one iota of stock in anything Dames says and neither should you. That said, if I am bored and I want to hear someone telling tall tales, you can't find many better than Dames.

Monday, The Noor returns to finish out November, starting with Albert Taylor talking about OBEs and spirit attacks. Noory is a hardcore OBE fan, so he should be all about this episode. I'm not an OBE fan, but the spirit attacks stuff could be pretty good.

Tuesday sees Dr. Gary Schwartz join the show to talk about the real life adventures of the woman whose life was turned into "The Medium". Could be good, though I'm not a big Medium fan. I could have sworn Bell was though, so I'm surprised to see Noory get the nod for the interview.

Wednesday, the pace picks up with Hal Lindsey, making his first appearance on C2C in over two and a half years. I've been waiting quite a while to hear from Lindsey, so this should be a great episode. Lindsey was a big mover and shaker in the "End of the World" movement back in the day, so it will be interesting to hear his take on the present state of the world today (seeing as it hasn't quite ended yet).

Thursday, if you like nanotechnology and getting caught in the rain, then you'll love Bart Kosko. I don't. But I know usofe.com poster baemark does, so I'm glad to see he will get a nano episode to kick off December. Good on ya, baemark.

Friday, Standard Open Lines. Bleh week on-paper for Coast, but it is tough to follow a week that had Friedman, Marrs, Hollow Earth, and a theme episode, so I'm give em a mulligan here.

Letter #1

Are you familiar with the harmonic 4-day cubic nature of time? If not, you are truly stupid and evil.

Paul from Parts Unknown

Geez. I am stupid and evil, I guess, because I'm not familiar with the "4-day cubic nature of time". Paul was kind enough to elaborate, but his e-mail continued getting bigger and bigger (in font size) and changing color (seriously). It's e-mails like this that make me proud to be a part of the esoteric world. Thanks, Paul.

Letter #2

I just wanted to thank you for the audio interviews, I came across them from your posting on the C2C forms and find them to be quite appealing please keep them up, I will be posting about them on my own site shortly- I just wanted to give you props on it them.

Thanks,

-Andy

A letter from a Streamlinker, always nice. You're very welcome, Andy. We put a lot of time and effort into BoA : Audio and we're happy to hear it is finding the audience well. Hopefully, you'll be just as thrilled with the stuff we having in the coming weeks and months ahead.

This Week in C2C History

11.25.2004 : Ever the shrewd programmer, Noory had Dr. John Abramson on to talk about health care on Thanksgiving Night. I recall lambasting him about it in last year's binnall report : "Thanksgiving was disappointing, as Dr. John Abramson just did not do it for me at all and I was exhausted from consuming copious amounts of turkey. Had it been a different guest I may have adjusted my sleeping pattern some to check out the ep. but the health care crisis was not it. "

11.25.2003 : One of The Noor's favorite guests, Will Henry stopped by to share some info on the Ark of the Covenant and White Gold Powder. He even included this interesting tid bit : "Gardner said he was pleased with the idea of "moving his academic work into mainstream entertainment.""(C2C website archive) Look for the Will Henry reality show coming to Bravo sometime this Spring.

11.25.1998 : Art Bell with a news story that show why Hurricane Katrina may not have been so bad after all : "A woman who gave a spare set of her house keys to a neighbor was appalled to learn the neighbor had secretly installed a video camera in her attic above her bed. No charges have been filed, because there is no law for this in Louisiana. " (artbell.com cd rom)

End Notes

Just in time to spend the rest of the afternoon doing whatever I want, thank God, we are finished up with the final November edition of "the binnall report". Next week, we are in full on hype mode for The Coasties as voting will be underway. Hope you join in on the fun.

Plugs : Tomorrow, something else instead of BoA : Audio. Sunday, SNP and smoker dave. Monday, News Watch. Tuesday, Lesley's Grey Matters. Wednesday, Khyron's The K-Files. Thursday, Coastie Ballot unveiled and the 1st in our "Get Out the Vote" campaign on Hot Newz. And, of course, Friday is the binnall report. binnallofamerica.com ... Your off-kilter observer of all things esoteric.

You know what ? I think I'm gonna stay in my pajamas for the rest of the day. You know why ? Because I can. Hope you use your day as you see fit. See you next week.
