11.18.5

November is thrashing like a mouse in a glue trap. Thank crap that we are less than a week away from Thanksgiving and then the subsequent onslaught of the holiday season. Hope your week was splendid and your upcoming holiday kicks ass.

It's getting colder here in Boston and I am not a fan. Had to start my car this morning and let it heat up before I could go anywhere. That's really irks me. And the daylight is slowly disappearing and it's practically always dark out. Ugh. And this is just the beginning. Wait till it starts snowing.

But we still have C2C to keep us warm and the antics of Noory to brighten even the darkest of days. So bring forth this week's binnall report ...

The Week That Was

We left off last week as The Noor was preparing to bring back C2C stalwart Dannion Brinkley as the first hour guest. Somehow, I missed this hour, but I'm sure Dannion brought the goods. Standard Open Lines followed.

Saturday Night Punnett first saw pirate expert, Captain Kelley Sweeney, who was more egomaniac than sailor, to talk about that pirate attack on the cruise ship a few weeks ago. Sweeney was all about Sweeney and not much else and even managed to get Ian to keep him past the first hour to finish some story of Sweeney's battle with pirates. Ian also dubbed him C2C's "pirate go-to guy", seriously.

The full show guest was Michael Horn to update us on Billy Meier. Despite wanting to give Meier a chance, I only listened to a smidge of this episode. I just don't think there is too much to the Meier story. No word on Ian's take on the proceedings.

Sunday featured Art Bell in rerun form with a 5.27.1994 episode of C2C where Art interviewed Preston Nichols about the Philadelphia Experiment. I have a method with these episodes and that is to download the MP3s and save them for a rainy day. The buzz on theusofe.com was that this was a great episode, so I'm looking forward to hearing it, perhaps tonight if there is time.

Monday, The Noor returned to the helm of the good ship C2C with a rare appearance by Brad Steiger to talk about amazing animals. While a tad overly sweet, the episode was pretty damn good. Steiger has a wealth of info, so it was a smidge disappointing to hear him only really talking about animals and not some other far out stuff, but what he did bring to the table was quite stellar, as can be expected. The animal stories were pretty interesting and Noory's "everyman" style worked well in this episode.

Tuesday saw the return of Loren Coleman to C2C to talk about cryptozoology topics like mothman, thunderbirds, and bigfoot. It's become increasing clear that Coleman has stood out amongst the throng of Bigfoot hunters as the most legit guy in the field, so it's good to see C2C embrace him as a quasi-spokesman for cryptozoology. Coleman was even gracious enough to bring Mark Hall, thunderbird expert, on to discuss that story in the 3rd hour. Top notch crypto-stuffs.

For those of you wondering, yes Noory did manage to ask both men if they thought dinosaurs were still roaming the Earth. He continues to push the dino agenda every time we hear from Coleman, much to my amusement. See this week's Hot Newz for more info on Noory's dinosaur obsession.

Much to the dismay of those who loathe him, Sean David Morton filled the "TBA" slot on Wednesday. Morton managed to let fly that he was also in LA last week with Ed Dames for whatever mysterious project Noory was working on. For those of you seeking dirt, SDM also alluded to Stan Deyo being there and that it was some sort of DVD project, despite Noory previously saying it was affiliated with "In Demand" (pay per view). I'm surprised to hear that Deyo would be cavorting with Dames and SDM. I'm also equally surprised that Noory would be taking on some sort of outside project with both Dames and SDM, two notorious C2C guests. Why hitch your wagon to those two, Noor ? Ugh.

Anyway, Morton was on to talk about his usual tripe about predictions, prophecies, and, of course, Sean David Morton. As with most Morton episodes, I listened to hear what Morton was saying then quickly forgot. A fine salesman and a decent showman, Morton is entertaining, but I wouldn't spend 1 cent on anything he's selling.

Thursday, Noory called out the dog, the bulldog that is. Alex Jones stormed C2C's first hour to discuss current events. Great Jones appearance. This may have been his best pop-in so far this year and better than some of his 3 hour shots. Good discussion of some "big questions" and not too much focus on little details. Noory and Jones alluded to pulling off some kind of Illuminati Roundtable, but they would do it stealthily. I am all for an Illuminati Roundtable, as that would be awesome. The part about them wanting to sneak it on the show so the Illuminati wouldn't shut it down reeked of theatrics, but I enjoyed it. One this is for certain, Noory likes AJ. It's reminiscent of the Steve Quayle obsession of 2004, though not totally full blown yet.

The full show guest was Charles R. Smith to talk about China. Excellent stuff from Smith, albeit a tad dry. Smith knows what he is talking about and for those of us with an ear to the geopolitical ground, he is an important expert. This was a valuable episode and a great example of C2C bringing solid information out to people.

The Week That Is

Tonight, Open Lines. Noory and his Friday night ritual. No word on the pop-in yet.

Saturday Night Punnett features an alternative energy double shot with David Sereda and Robert Plarr. Sereda is quite good. I'm not familiar with Plarr. Should be decent to great, depending on how technical it gets.

Sunday ... wow. Strap yourself in, get some food, lock the doors and windows and experience what may be one of the best C2Cs, on paper, of 2005. Art Bell sits down with the father of modern day Ufology, Stanton Friedman for 3 hours. I cannot wait. Let's face it, Friedman is amongst the best of the best. I've never heard him interviewed by Bell, though I'm sure he has in the past. Bell has a grasp of the "big picture" of Ufology like no one else, so their interaction should be priceless. This is an episode you do not want to miss and will want to save to play for your grandkids.

Monday, The Noor will try to follow that show with the JFK Special III. For those of you with good memories, JFK Special I was great and II was not so great. Each having their own odd little stories to them that can be discussed at a later time. This year, Noory brings us the excellent Peter Lavenda, and Lamar Waldron and Joan Mellen. Kudos to C2C for finding 3 new voices to discuss the JFK assassination. I presume the format will be the same and that is of the "revolving door guest" style that sees each guest get one hour. Another on-paper classic.

Tuesday, it's TBA again. I'm pulling for Jordan Maxwell to finally get that TBA spot he rightfully deserves, but I'd also be satiated if they gave the TBA slot to Jim Marrs to discuss the JFK assassination, as it will be the anniversary on Tuesday. I suspect Marrs is swamped around this time of year, so that may not be possible, but I can dream.

Wednesday, Noory celebrates Thanksgiving Eve as only he can ... with Open Lines. I suspect Hoagland will find a way onto this episode, as he loves the holidays for pop-ins.

Thursday, you best not indulge on too much turkey, lest you miss Kevin Taylor's appearance to talk about Hollow Earth, one of my favorite esoteric theories. Looking forward to hearing this one as well.

Friday, probably Open Lines, but who knows. Perhaps a rerun of a classic episode or Ian Punnett.

This looks like one of the best on-paper weeks of C2C in quite some time, with two potential classics and the rest having prospects of being very good.

The 2005 Coasties Are Coming

We're less than 2 weeks away from the release of the 2005 Coastie Awards Ballot. Hardcore C2C fans everywhere are sizing up their picks for Best Episode, Best Guest, and Outstanding Acheivement in Cryptozoology amongst other hotly contested races.

This week, we look at some more winners from last year's Awards :

Guest of the Year for '04 : Alex Jones. AJ made his debut on C2C in 2004 and was a part of 2004's Episode of the Year (Secret Societies Roundtable), so it's no surprise that he dominated voting for Guest of the Year. Jones was easily the stand-out performer in the 2004 Coasties, garnering Best Newcomer and Best Conspiracy Episode trophies as well.

Alt. Science Episode of the Year for '04 : Eugene Mallove. His death touched the C2C fanbase like perhaps no other. His appearance in February of 2004, a scant 2 months prior to his death, earned him posthumous Alt. Science Episode honors. He narrowly edged out the other top two vote getters, Dr. Michio Kaku and Howard Lyman.

C2C Regular of the Year for '04 : Richard C. Hoagland. Despite appearing on 30 episodes in 2004, RCH only garnered the one award for Best Regular. That said, he dominated voting, pulling away from Linda Moulton Howe and Steve Quayle, who both had some good showings, to easily win the award.

The 2005 Coastie Voting Schedule :

12.1.2005 Coastie Voting Begins.

12.21.2005 : Coastie Voting Closes.

12.30.2005 : Coastie Winners Announced.

Man, I can't take this Punnet guy. After his correcting this lady's typing I clicked off. The question I hope you can answer - Who was rsponsible for bringing this guy aboard?

On second thought, maybe Punnet is better than that broad they has a couple of years ago. Hey, all kiddin' aside, you have a good read on your web site everytime I'm on it.

Harry

No doubt about it, Ian Punnett is better than Barbra Simpson no matter how you slice it. While I have no ill will for Babs, her style just did not jive with me. IP, while overly folksy and a tad grating, is a decent host for Coast and he at least knows what he is talking about.

Thanks for the props on the site. It is a collective effort and we try to bring the best to our readers every day.

Letter #2

Please! please! tell me where I can get a copy of Goodnight in the Desert and that one with the airplane taking off (Fly!).

Noone can replace Art Bell. I miss him.

Ann in Santa Fe

Relax, Ann. First of all, the song is called "Midnight in the Desert" and it is by Crystal Gayle. You'll probably be able to find it via google, then amazon. I'm a tad clueless as to what the other song is, but perhaps a faithful binnall report reader can send it in and I'll get the word out to you.

Art Bell is still on Sundays twice a month and while I wish he'd do more episodes, we have to give him his space. I think this Sunday's episode will be worth a month's worth of disgruntled Art episodes.

This Week in C2C History

11.18.2004 : JFK Assassination Special II. It's like Noory scraped the bottom of the barrel for JFK guests and plucked two nuts : January Jones and Bruce Adamson. James Fetzer in the first slot was excellent as usual, though. From last year's "binnall report : "Unlike last year's 40th anniversary episode, this year's special showcased the more, ahem, colourful characters of the JFK Assassination world. ... Then came January Jones, taking the show into a turn more towards "Desperate Housewives" than Coast to Coast with an assassination theory that was crude and amateurish at best. Things didn't get much better as Bruce Adamson then shows up and it become Obsessive Compulsive JFK assassination theory time."

11.18.2003 : I like a good zany guest and this one looks like it fit the bill as Glenn Steckling brought a bunch of evidence that there are ET bases on the moon. Quality far-out stuff like "He also believes that the US has returned to the moon in recent years, and may have launched rockets clandestinely from the Indian Ocean or be using a non-missile technology. " (From the C2C web site)

11.17.1999 : Hunker down and get ready for the oncoming Armageddon : Y2K ! Yes, we were full-on in Y2K paranoia as Art Bell had Mark Stephens on again to talk about how the world was going to end at the year 2000. Among the stuff that makes you feel foolish in hindsight include : "Art asks Mark if there could be a depression and how big a hurdle is Y2K. Art asks Mark about the embedded chips the power companies use. Art asks Mark about the President's statement that everything will be okay yet has built a bunker. Art and Mark discuss the media coverage of Y2k. Art asks if Mark feels there will be a panic and what would the worst case scenario be." (From the artbell.com cd rom)

End Notes

And we are finished for another week. Next week, we'll probably be rocking out earlier than usual, given the lax scheduling of the holiday.

Plugs : Tomorrow @ binnallofamerica.com, it's Grant Cameron Part 2 of 2 on BoA : Audio. Tremendous discussion on Ufology and disclosure that you simply must hear. Sunday it's SNP and smoker dave. Monday, a special feature article of some sort from binnall. Tuesday, Grey Matters returns. Wednesday, Khyron's K-Files logo voting concludes (go HERE to vote now. Thursday, my spies have gotten a hold of C2C's 2004 Thanksgiving dinner and it will be revealed for all in Hot Newz. And we return to this space with a post-Thanksgiving binnall report next Friday.

binnallofamerica.com ... a perfect place to hide from your wacky uncle on Thanksgiving day.

That does it. I hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving and enjoy the greatness that is this national festivus. Have fun and be safe. I'll see you on the flip side.
