10.28.5

Welcome back, my friends, to the show that never ends. Hopefully you won't mind the slight tardiness for this week's edition, as we have crammed it full of tbr goodness. Every section is packed to the brim and overflowing with what you've come to expect from the binnall report.

I can't believe October is already almost over. The holidays are right around the corner and with those festive days comes the legendary Coastie Awards. We'll begin unleashing details starting next week, I promise.

But before all that, this week's we dip into the Week that Was on C2C, the Week that Is, a seriously historic This Week in C2C History, the infamous Hot Newz of last year's C2C Halloween Party, binnall report mailbag on Noory's new webcam and Steve Quayle, and massive news re : BoA : Audio, Season One. That all starts ... now.

The Week That Was

Last week, we left off just as The Noor was about to welcome Linda Moulton Howe to the show for Friday night pop-in. Linda was all about bird flu and also those wacky pythons down South. I missed this one, not quite sure why, but I hear it was usual LMH goodness.

Saturday Night Punnett saw the C2C debut of John Michael Greer who was on the show to talk about monsters. Greer had some good stuff. I only half-heartedly listened (as I am wont to do after the 1st hour on Saturday), but what I got was good. I am surprised Greer hadn't been on before, but I think he's a perfect "Noory guest".

Sunday, Art Bell returned to bring in perennial C2C guest Nick Begich to talk about HAARP, what else. I'll be honest, I'm not a Begich fan. I've heard the HAARP spiel about 1000 times. I figured I could survive without hearing this episode and, apparently, I did so far. From the looks of things, it sounds like Begich delved a tad into the infamous "weather war" theory, but downplayed it, for the most part. I will probably check that part out later on down the line.

By Monday, I was back in the swing of things and so was The Noor. He settled back into the host chair to speak with Lawrence Krauss about alternate dimensions. I was expecting some tie in to pop culture, but this was a straight alt. science episode. Krauss knew his stuff and was fairly deep in his verbiage and what-have-you.

Most notable was his proverbial "bitch slap" to the beloved Dr. Michio Kaku's string theory. Krauss, how dare you ? I smell an alt. dimensions debate ... Krauss v. Kaku. Noory, get on that.

Tuesday saw Chris Fleming join the show to talk about ghosts, famous ghosts and, mostly, Chris Fleming. Yes, the Flem was an amazing egotist, spending approximately the entire first hour talking about himself and the stuff he had experienced. At least the second hour had some discussion on celebrity ghosts. Of course, they were all about the one's he'd "talked" to. I was skeptical of this, at best.

Something about Fleming just rubbed me the wrong way. Perhaps I was in a bad mood or perhaps because he sounded so much like Ed Dames. At the end of the show, I was not a Fleming fan.

Wednesday continued Noory's war against big oil. He had, in studio no less, Jerome Corsi and Craig Smith to talk about abiotic oil. Excellent episode. Corsi and Smith brought the noise, the funk, and the kitchen sink to this episode tossing out enough facts and anecdotes to overwhelm Hoagland. The in-studio aspect brought a lot to the episode, as the sound was much better than your average C2C. Almost like "High Definition Coast".

There's much to say about Noory's newfound hatred for oil. If anything, we will go with the obvious and point out that Bell is a big "peak oil" backer and now Noory has jumped on the "anti-peak oil" bandwagon (Also called "abiotic oil" by those of us who want to sound smart and creepy.) Be that as it may, Noory was fantastic in this episode, where his "everyman" quality and folksy "righteous indignation" was perfectly timed and executed.

Noory followed it up with another great episode with the return of Kenneth Davis, the guy behind the "Don't Know Much" franchise. Davis had a wealth of information, some of it old hat, more of it quite novel. Davis seemed to know the quirky back story of every myth and legend and old wives tale in the book. Thankfully Noory didn't waste too much time on Halloween and was all over the map with various queries. It didn't really hurt the episode, though, as each answer Davis had was standalone good to great.

Good week trending upwards towards the end as we head into November. Hopefully, we'll see some quality stuffs next month as we did last year.

The Week That Is

Yesterday, during the nightly news portion of the show, at the opening, Noory teased Richard C. Hoagland for tonight's episode, so don't be surprised if/when you hear His Hoaginess show up. Hopefully, Noory will give RCH some time and he can loosen his bolo.

Saturday Night Punnett sees Dr. Judith Orloff stop by to talk about psychic vampires. This sounds like a total Noory guest, I'm surprised she'll be on with Ian. Looks decent.

Sunday kicks off two days of pure Ghost-to-Ghost madness in honour of Halloween. First, we get the 2003 rebroadcast of Ghost-to-Ghost. Kudos to C2C for not running the much maligned 2004 Ghost-to-Ghost which saw Art Bell play a decades old record for the first quarter or so of the episode.

Monday ... the, at least, 9th annual "Ghost-to-Ghost". Call it what you want "G2G", Ghost-to-Ghost 2005, or Ghost to Ghost IX, it's all good. We get Bell on a weekday, which is ultrarare nowadays and much appreciated. We get creepy stories up the wazoo and Bell's usually outrageous reactions. It is one of the year's most anticipated episodes and for good reason.

Tuesday, Noory continues the festivus with the long-awaited C2C return of Graham Hancock. This one stunned me, as just earlier in the week @ binnallofamerica.com, we unveiled the annual "12 Guests C2C Needs" and, wouldn't you know it, Hancock was 5th on the list. Kudos C2C for possibly listening to me. Kudos to Lesley who suggested Hancock for the list in the first place. And, kudos to Noory for being Noory.

Should be a good episode, as Hancock has gotten himself all mixed up in the esotericists drug of choice : ayauahsca. And while he is not directly billed as talking about that, I'm sure he'll drift into it at some point. He's also got some new book to plug and wants to talk about the global flood myth. I'm looking forward to this one.

Wednesday, Noory looks to have yet another barn burner with Ed and Kris Sherwood, who will be on to talk about the flying humanoids of Mexico (Yes !) and UK crop circles. I've been on this flying humanoid story for a while now and simply love it. For those of you who haven't seen the pictures, you're gonna flip your wig. (Expect a Noory wig flipping.) High hopes for this one as well.

What has to qualify as the downer of the week is Thursday with Peter Ward who despite claiming to be on to talk about aliens and the search for alien life looks to be another pure space nut who works, yes I said works, for NASA. If this is Noory's penance for trying to get the head of NASA on the show, I can forgive it. Otherwise, it sounds "blah" worthy. Hopefully, Hoagland will call in and berate him for 20 minutes or something.

Finally, we turn to Friday. We haven't gotten direct, official, word from C2C, but it looks like, from what LMH teased last week on the show, that Friday will be the UFO Crash Retrieval Conference Special III. Those of you who have been around a while, know binnall was very close to attending this year's festivities, so I am even more psyched to see this C2C Special return. Last year's festivities were one of the very best episodes of 2004 and, hopefully, this year's edition will top that masterpiece last year. I'll have more to say about this episode, I'm sure, in next week's tbr.

binnall of america : audio, Season One

Good news, folks. We've mastered streaming audio. It arrives with this week's edition of BoA : Audio ... tomorrow @ binnallofamerica.com. Along with that, we have all past episodes of this critically acclaimed series now available in streaming format. If that's not enough, we've also got the entire X-Conference Sessions for you to stream. If you haven't been able to hear what everyone is talking about, BoA : Audio, now's your chance ... Jim Marrs, Stanton Friedman, Marshall Klarfeld, Monsignor Corrado Balducci, Terry Hansen, Alfred Webre, Greg Bishop, Dr. Michael Salla, Robert Miles, the X-Conference Press Conference and ...

This Week : One of the most eloquent and beloved members of the UFO community, Peter Robbins joins BoA : Audio for a very special 2 part session. Peter Robbins is the co-author of the legendary book "Left at East Gate", which chronicled the journey of Larry Warren, a participant in the infamous Benwaters/Rendelsham Forest story. You'll be hearing a lot about the Rendelsham Case as it is coming up on the 25th Anniversary. BoA : Audio likes to think we are unofficially kicking off the festivities with this landmark interview.

Part One features Peter's background before getting into the case and then an all out clinic on Rendelsham. I can't rave about this one enough, folks, it is that damn good. Part 1 alone will feature well over an hour of top notch stuff and Part 2 will be probably almost as long.

Next Week : We pick up where we left off discussing "Left at East Gate", a lengthy discussion on Peter's travels in Japan and Japan's Ufological Community, Ufology on the Internet, and women in Ufology.

In Coming Weeks : No names yet, but I am in the midst of producing the next cycle of interviews for BoA : Audio, Season One. Over the course of the weekend, we'll cut two episodes with some huge names in esoterica. We're also in the process of negotiating a few more big ones and are almost ready to tape them. Names will be revealed shortly.

binnall report mailbag

Letter #1

binnall,

Noory has a webcam now. Why?

Phil in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Phil,

Good question. I'd been wondering about that as well. Some might say he's trying to "be like Bell" with his newfound webcam. Others claims he is an insatiable exhibitionist who insists on having yet another outlet to reach out and tickle the world. But, most likely, it is the result of the endless demands of old school "traditionalist" C2C fans who want the show to be like it was in days gone by. I'm all for it, as it give us more fodder in our endless campaign chronicaling the creepdom of C2C.

Letter #2

binnal,

What happened to Steve Quayle ? He used to be like every month and now he's barely on anymore.

Joe in Providence, RI

Good question, Joe. I would suspect that either C2C, Quayle, or both realized that he'd completely burned out his credibility with his now legendary run of 2004. Chances are he's taken a step back from the microphone in an attempts to find what brought him to the dance in the first place. I just wish he'd explain whatever happened to his sexy rock star daughter. I miss her oh so much.

This Week in C2C History

10.28.2003 : It's one of our favorite games here at "the binnall report" : poking fun at C2C psychics. Two years ago today, Gordon Michael Scallion joined the show to say "ET disclosure is moving forward, and within the next couple of years there will be confirmation." Wow. I must have missed that. I also must have missed "A powerful sun flare within the next year will cause a global blackout." (Credit : coasttocoastam.com) Give GMS credit, he aims high.

10.28.2001 : Unbelievable ! Do you know what happened 4 years ago today ... The Noor joined C2C as a regular guest host. Yes, Noory had a one-off hosting shot in April of 2001, but it was on this day in 2001 that Noory became a regular pop-in host, eventually becoming the weekend guy, then stepping into the hosts chair and taking over the Starship Coast. Wow. Happy quasi-birthday, Noory.

10.28.1998 : One of those episodes that will probably never be forgotten by those who heard it. Sadly, I am not among them, but it sounds like a classic : "Art starts out with a brief recap about his departure from the air and his ultimate return. Art says his affiliates were incredibly supportive and he didn't lose any during his absence. Of course, Art thanks everyone who showed their support. Art says there was a full time encampment outside his home within 24 hours of his announcement to quit. Art's return has been possible due to his network stepping in and helping him. Though there are several media sources that have the true story of Art's departure, they have not leaked it. Art guesses it will all be public within a couple weeks, though he wishes it will never come out. " (artbell.com cd rom).

End Notes

I gotta go carve a pumpkin to look like the Cydonia face and find some solvent to remove my glued-on Noory moustache. Be careful out there, kids, don't eat any razor blade apples and watch out for idiot drivers.

Plugs : Tomorrow @ binnallofamerica.com, Peter Robbins (Part 1 of 2) on BoA : Audio, Season One. One of the very best editions yet of this critically acclaimed audio series. Sunday, SNP and smoker dave. Monday, News Watch. Tuesday, Grey Matters, Wednesday, The K-Files. Thursday, Hot Newz. Friday, we do it all one more time here in the binnall report.

Meanwhile, we've begun double updates @ BoA, are about to reveal a new weekly columnist, are featuring a new sporadic "special delivery" from our new friend Mallory Mahling (the debut missive is about Ghosts of Tennessee), and have tons of other wild stuff in the pipeline. binnallofamerica.com ... we see esoteric people.

Until I take to the keyboard again, this is binnall wishing you a spooky but safe Halloween and a pleasant rest of the week.
