Getting a bit of a late start to this week's festivities, we return with yet another edition of "the binnall report". One year older, one year wiser, one year creepier.
To say we're busy would be an understatement. The much longed for additional section that celebrates one year of "tbr" is being scrapped. I suppose it is a good thing that we are so busy that we cannot rest on our laurels and trump how we are one year old.
Be that as it may, I want to take this opportunity to thank some people who have been instrumental in the continuing madness that is "the binnall report" : Jim aka "jerikai", Amy aka "Majestic Peak", and Khyron aka "khyron". These three folks gave me a lot of encouragement back when we first started this weekly rant and, if not for them, we probably would have stopped at something like 4 editions. Also, I want to thank BoA's Lesley, an outstanding ally in the trenches at BoA, C2C's Lex Lonehood, who never put the kaybosh on "tbr" in its infancy like some feared, and all the great posters @ theusofe.com, who have grown to become a collective, albeit dysfunctional at times, family. Also, all the fine folks on the Streamlink boards who have been with "tbr" since day 1, your continued support has been nothing short of awesome.
I should also thank Noory, Bell, Punnett and the folks @ C2C for not flaking or complaining about the binnall report and, some claim, actually reading it and taking in the wisdom that is the rants of binnall. I also should thank some of the great C2C guests who have contacted me re: whatever I wrote about them in "tbr" after they appeared. Some of the names astounded me and made me realize that this "tbr" thing was something like a phenomenon.
And, of course, I want to thank all of you, the readers of "the binnall report", the ones who just jumped on recently and the ones who have been with us since those early days last year. Your feedback and interest is what keeps the mothership of BoA running smooth and efficient. Without the readers, I'd just be shouting out my window.
Alright, enough of this sappy crap, let's get down to the business ...
The Week That Was
And what a week it was ... we left off last week with Noory bringing aboard Ryan Reynolds to talk about budgies, funky talking birds that he claims give clues to the impending apocalypse. Pretty creepy stuff. Standard Open Lines followed, including a call from an irate JC who claimed his lady friend Edna Pringle had run away from him. Good stuff there.
On location in upstate NY, it was Saturday Night Punnett. IP had a pretty decent show with a remote viewer who was not obsessed with end times : Stephen Schwartz. They talked about using remote viewing to find archaeological sites and what have you. Interesting and not your usual mind numbing RV stuff. Kudos to IP for inviting everyone in the area to come meet him for breakfast. I'm anxiously waiting to hear if anyone actually did.
Sunday was an odd bird, featuring Noory live for the first hour and then a replay of an Evelyn Paglini from a few years back. I skipped the Paglini part, as I am not a huge fan of replays, but I did catch the first hour of live Noory.
Said first hour featured David Sereda, who was trying to figure out why that dude who took the camera to space now had no camera. Fairly interesting. Meanwhile, we could finally call off the dogs, as Richard C. Hoagland returned to C2C to spread the Hoagie goodness. This was an instance where absence made Hoagland better, as RCH was in top form since he'd not been on 30 times the previous 2 weeks. Hoags was still all about the hurricanes, his conspiracy du jour, I guess.
Monday saw The Noor return for the full episode and his guest was Mark deMucha, talking about Tesla. Great episode. deMucha knew his stuff and touched on a lot of the cooler Tesla stories that have become well known to Tesla buffs the world over. Noory seemed, at times, a little behind the curve, but it only slightly hampered the episode. It's been too long since Tesla got some airtime on C2C, so that was much appreciated. A must listen for anyone who doesn't know much about Tesla and wants to know more.
Tuesday, Noory welcomed Robert Moss to talk about dreams. I was skeptical at first about this episode, as it sprung up in the TBA zone earlier in the week, but I was pleasantly surprised at its quality. Moss had a good dose of charisma, which brought this episode up from what could have been a snoozer. His anecdotes were pretty entertaining and esoteric, to say the least.
Wednesday, Earth Changes Roundtable with Stan Deyo, Jim Berklund, and James McCanney. Another episode that exceeded my low expectations. Stripping away from a straight "earthquake roundtable" and going right for "earth changes" helped the episode. The guests were three C2C stalwarts who know what they are doing, including Deyo, who was on RT II, so he is no stranger to the RT format.
Voice confusion was kept to a minimum and the episode went fairly smoothly, except in moments of slight confusion because McCanney and Berklund have similar first names. I missed about 45 minutes in the middle, but Lesley tells me Hoagland called up, which doesn't surprise me in the least. A better episode than a single guest earth changes episode would be, for sure.
Thursday saw a late change as Kenneth Davis was bumped in favor of Lionel Fanthorpe. Both are great guests, so I've no serious qualm with that move. Fanthorpe was, as always, awesome. Noory was spot on correct in saying he is one of the world's greatest storytellers and Fanthorpe lived up to that billing. A really fun episode. Noory and Fanthorpe have good chemistry as well, so it was very good.
The Week That Is
We kick it off tonight with The Noor bringing back C2C regular Linda Moulton Howe. LMH will be touching on two of the big mainstream stories of the past few weeks, avian flu and crazy snakes eating stuff in the Everglades. Should be interesting. Standard Open Lines to follow.
Saturday see Ian Punnett welcome John Michael Greer to talk about Monsters and Demons. Halloween starts early on Coast, it seems. Looks good. IP's "everyman" character plays well with spooky stuff, so it should be entertaining. I know little of Greer, so I cannot vouch for his quality, but I suspect it will be a worthwhile episode.
Sunday ... ring them bells, because Art Bell is back for one of his two Sundays a month. Count me among those who wish Bell would just take every Sunday, as C2C's Sunday scheduling has been patchwork at best and awful at worst since he reduced his schedule. Bell will have on one of the old standards of C2C, Nick Begich to talk about HAARP. I expect Begich will be spinning the story of "weather war" away from HAARP, despite the yelps of the conspiratorialists. With any other host, this would be skippable, but with Bell, anything can happen, so it is worth checking out.
Monday, the Noor returns to talk to Lawrence Krauss about alternate dimensions. The C2C preview says he will tie in pop culture somehow, which may raise the quality of this episode considerably, moving from the ephemeral and science laden, to the sociological and TV laden. Noory should do well here.
Tuesday we continue the ramp up to Halloween with Chris Fleming to talk about ghosts ... celebrity ghosts that is. Should be fun and vaguely reminiscent of R. Gary Patterson episodes. I expect good things from this one.
Noory is at war with peak oil. It's official with this week's Wednesday fare : Jerome Corsi and Craig Smith talking about abiotic oil. This comes two weeks after the fantastic Alex Jones / Paul Watson "peak oil" episode. Another double guest episode covering just abiotic oil should be great as this is a topic much deserving of coverage on Coast. If Corsi and/or Smith have some charisma and good info, it will be excellent.
After being bumped this past week, we will get to hear from Kenneth Davis on Thursday, talking about the origins of popular Halloween myths and legends. I am really looking forward to this one, as Davis has some killer material and a full episode should really give him a chance to shine.
So, on paper, it looks like a better than average week on C2C. We'll find out next week how it all shook out.
binnall of america : audio, Season One
Big thanks to all the great websites out there who have discovered and helped promote BoA : Audio, Season One. I have my interns compiling a list and we will have it available soon for thanks and kudos. To all those silly folks who haven't dipped their toe into the BoA : Audio, Season One pool, time to dive in.
This Week : Part 2 of my interview with Greg Bishop, author of "Project Beta". In this, almost as lengthy as last week, installment we'll be talking about a host of other "Project Beta" material, John Lear, and the infamous Richard Doty episode of C2C that had everyone talking last February. If you listen to Coast to Coast, you'll love that part of the interview, as it is a veritable behind the scenes on what went down that night. Greg Bishop's website is www.excludedmiddle.com.
Next Week : TBA. It could be one of three folks, you'll know at some point mid-week next week. Sorry for the mystery, we're in the process of collecting the next wave of interviews for BoA : Audio, Season One, so there are a few different irons in the fire about to be cooled and rolled out for you.

Letter #1
binnall,
Love your website. How do you write so much stuff every week ?
Nicole in Los Angeles, CA
I get this question a lot, Nicole, but this once I will reveal a bit of my secret. The key to my ability to produce a lot of material each week is based on a simple skill I picked up in 7th grade : I learned to type. It's that easy. By being able to type, and type fast, I can write much faster than your average "hunt and peck" typer. That, coupled with actually having something to say, helps me get my message out every week with the usual depth and speed you've come to expect from BoA.
Letter #2
Tim,
What can we expect after BoA : Audio, Season One ?
Randy in Tacoma, WA
After BoA : Audio, Season One, I will be taking a much needed vacation from audio for a few months, at least. BoA : A has been a time consuming project, but a worthwhile one nonetheless. The newly found free time will be used for helping other areas of BoA grow and develop throughout the early part of 2006. The tenative plan, for now, is for BoA : Audio, Season Two to begin in the Summer of 2006. Between then, expect some "Sessions" that will be on-location interviews @ conferences.

This Week in C2C History
10.21.2004 : One of my favorite looks back @ C2C History : the prognosticators. Sean David Morton, no less. Yes, our old friend SDM was on C2C one year ago today. From that night : "Forces from the US and Israel are on standby for a joint attack on nuclear sites in Iran. Could happen before the election." Miss. "No terrorists attack before the election." Hit. (credit : Aspie's C2C psychic tracker) So it's a mixed bag from SDM, who worked around the election and made a bunch of political predictions that had 50-50 shot of being right.
10.21.2003 : Frequent C2C space expert Robert Zimmerman stopped by to give a history lesson on the US Moon missions : "Later, after the US triumphed with the 1969 moon landing, Zimmerman said the "American public lost its will," after getting a look at the desolate and lifeless qualities inherent on the moon. Explorations of the moon were cut short and astronauts "saw less territory than a NYC cab driver sees in an afternoon of work," he jested. " (credit : C2C main site).
10.21.1999 : A glimpse here of the magic of the old Art Bell - Richard C. Hoagland dynamic : "Richard C. Hoagland joins Art this hour. They discuss the recent discovery of a wooly mammoth in a ice block. Richard goes through what he thinks the process will be with this specimen. After the bottom of the hour break, Art and Richard discuss new and unusual behavior exhibited by President Clinton. Richard talks about the last press conference Clinton held and when he exited the conference he was locked out of the White House. Richard talks about Clinton at the AFL-CIO meeting where he was supposed to be tooting Al Gore's horn but instead talked about what it would be like if he held a third term. " (artbell.com cd rom)
10.21.1997 : Another example of C2C being ahead of the curve. From the recap of this episode, airing 8 years to the day : "Clinton is poised to announce a new plan for global warming. Art thought it was quite interesting that as the two arguments were being given, both sides admitted there is a climate change underway. A breakthrough in electric automobiles. Arts guess is the breakthrough will come about when our fossil fuel supply is just about gone. In other words just in the nick of time." (credit : artbell.com cd rom)
End Notes
And there you have it. This week's "tbr" is history. Hope you had fun.
Plugs : Tomorrow, the exciting conclusion of the Greg Bishop interview. Fantastic stuff I know you will enjoy. Sunday, double dose of Saturday Night Punnett and smoker dave. Monday, the long awaited "12 Guests C2C Needs". Tuesday, Lesley's "Grey Matters". Wednesday, Khyron's "The K-Files". Thursday, Hot Newz. Friday, we do it all again right here in "tbr".
Meanwhile, stop by BoA a few times a day as we have taken to highlighting some fantastic material being produced at the blogs of BoA writers Lesley and Khyron. Top notch stuff that any fan of binnallofamerica would love. And mark your calendars because the Road to the Coasties begins very shortly. It's almost time for your voice to be heard regarding the best of 2005's C2C episodes.
Until I do it to you one more time, this is binnall saying so long and goodbye.
