10.13.6

Another week comes and goes and we find ourselves meeting here once again, my friends. I made the mistake of taking a little break mid-report to rake some leaves and now I am downright exhausted. Not looking forward to finishing the job tomorrow afternoon.

Despite what I said last week, I am taking a pass this week on dealing with the 2nd anniversary of the binnall report. This week has been really melancholy and I was bombarded with real world issues, so I am not in the mood, right now, to raise a glass and toast the moment. Next week, I swear, I will have something to say about this monumental occasion.

Be that as it may, there's lots to do here and now, as we look back at the past week of Coast to Coast AM that included a great guest on deja vu and Art Bell about to become a father again. We look ahead to next week on C2C, which will be fraught with dinosaurs, ghosts, and hostage situations, among other diverse topics. We dip into the mailbag for a BoA : Audio guest request and my first impressions on "Worker in the Light". We also climb into the Coast vault for the birth of the "missing Edna Pringle" story. Also, I preview tomorrow's BoA : Audio, featuring the 2nd half of the much discussed Paul Kimball interview. And, of course, we've got the real story behind Art Bell's big baby announcement, only in Hot Newz.

It's the real Friday the 13th horror show, it's the binnall report and it starts now ...

The Week That Was

Once again, but for different reasons, I had a lot going on this past week and it really threw off my schedule. For the most part, I managed to catch bits and pieces of the week's offerings, so I can only give vague reviews this time around.

At the conclusion of last week's binnall report, we were awaiting word on the Friday night pop-in. And what a pop-in it was, as C2C finally had Royce Myers, the UFO Watchdog and friend of BoA, on the show. Royce has been exposing the hoaxers and liars of Ufology for years, so it's about time he got some recognition for his work.

I always wondered how Noory would handle a UFO Watchdog appearance, since Royce has an infamous feud with C2C stalwart Sean David Morton and has also been fairly critical of The Noor's predecessor, Art Bell. It seemed like Noory was actually surprised by how cool Royce was and probably was shocked to realize that he agrees with Royce more than he thought he would. Noory even invited Royce back to be a part of a future "Skeptics Cage" episode of Coast. One can only hope we'll finally see the Royce Myers v. Sean David Morton slobberknocker we've been waiting years for.

All in all, kudos to Noory and company for having Royce on the show. I've increased The Noor's street cred by a fair percentage as a result of this episode. The rest of the night was standard Friday into Saturday Open Lines.

Saturday on "Ian", Mr. Punnett had Kenneth Sewell on the show for some alternative history goodness. Apparently, in 1968, some crazy Russian sub tried to start a nuclear war with America. Sewell detailed it all in his book Red Star Rogue and gave the lowdown to Ian and company. I heard parts of this one and it was another solid outing from Ian, who continues to fly under the radar and produce top notch esoteric radio week in and week out.

Saturday night on C2C proper, Art Bell kicked off the show with the exciting news that his new wife Airyn is pregnant. Wow. Art Bell, you dog. As usual, a vocal portion of C2C's hardcore audience freaked out and were hating on Art, because his new baby is, apparently, worth getting angry over. Yikes. Thankfully, BoA's senior writer Khyron tackled those critics with this week's The K-Files. Go get em, K-Man.

Personally, I'm nonplussed by Art's new baby. As I said over @ theusofe.com, congratulations to Art Bell and thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for providing dozens of potential new Hot Newz features. (Like this week's installment.) Best of luck with the new baby.

After the quasi reality show portion of Coast with Art and his baby, the actual guest was Jeffrey Wands, talking about the spirit world. I caught bits and pieces of this, but not enough to make an assessment, so we'll turn it over to Lesley's C2C Rewind for the play-by-play, "I didn't get to hear all of the show, but what I heard was much better than I had expected. Art seemed to want to know the cause of misfortune and Wands tried to give him an answer, but who knows if it was the right one ?"

Sunday's Coast featured Art freaking out in the first hour about North Korea testing a nuke. He had Doug Beason on for pop-in duty to discuss the latest developments. This was pretty awesome and gave a small indication of what it was like "back in the day", when Art was dealing with breaking stories on a nightly basis in the 90's and making it all seem freaky as all hell.

I skipped out on the full show guest, Kenneth Sewell, who was on talking about laser weapons and other exotic warfare developments. It all sounded a little too much for me and I didn't want to ruin what had been an awesome first hour of the show. No buzz on this one, from what I could gather.

Monday night on Coast, The Noor had Doug Elwell on the show. I caught bits and pieces and what I heard was quite good. The buzz on this one was excellent, including usofe.com's circledancer saying, "some of his info was fresh and interesting" (which is a lot more than you can say about some C2C guests) and Lesley saying that she "was surprised by this show and ended up liking it a lot".

I'll concur, in that Elwell had a lot of good material and his insight into various forms of anomalous beings was excellent. He covered a ton of ground and managed to have an answer for just about every oddball question from Noory. His entire conversation on the nature of faeries reminded me of an old bit on the UK version of The Office and had me cracking up quite a lot. I'll have to go back and give the episode more of my undivided attention, because I think this one was a keeper.

Tuesday on C2C, Jeffrey Epstein was on the show to spread more of the same Al Qaeda nuclear fears and domestic terror worries for the listening audience. I totally skipped this one, because I'm just so tired of hearing about it at this point. It sounded like he was all about the mainstream version of terror and not into the Alex Jones version of events, but either way I wasn't too interested. Noory only had him on for the middle two hours and had the final hour for Open Lines, so perhaps there wasn't much to it.

Wednesday was a fun episode, as Noory had Vernon Neppe on the show to talk about deja vu. This was a strong episode, as Neppe had charisma in buckets and his voice had a cadence to it that could only be described as that rare mix of hilarious and hypnotic. He busted out some good stories about deja vu and talked about the science behind trying to study it. Good episode, though I kind of trailed off at the end.

Thursday wrapped up the week with the esoteric wildman of Ireland, Patrick Heron. His topic was ostensibly the apocalypse, but he managed to weave a bunch of other stuff in there like the Nephilim and 2012. Heron is pretty good, a cross between Michael Tsarion and David Icke, so much so that it is hard to tell them all apart. I did enjoy how he was talking about his transformation from partying dude to esoteric researcher and Noory didn't seem to know how to react to his story about marijuana, which was funny as hell.

A pretty decent week, top to bottom, with nothing standing out as noteworthy, aside from Art's baby news and Doug Ewell's strong appearance. So it goes, I guess.

The Week That Is

Looks to be a pretty decent week ahead for C2C with a bevy of interesting offerings. We kick it off tonight with the standard Friday into Saturday Night Open Lines. I'd bet my Aunt Bessy's mule that The Noor will turn it into a Friday the 13th Open Lines, which is fine by me. No word on the pop-in yet.

Saturday on "Ian", IP's got a double shot of esoteric goodness, starting with Dr. Kim Paffenroth in the first hour to give us the lowdown on a zombies with an emphasis on the George Romero "Living Dead" variety. Look for lots of in-depth analysis of these cult films. Should be pretty interesting.

The full show guest will be Clint Van Zandt to discuss hostage negotiations. I'm expecting good stuff from Ian, who seems to be a culture vulture and should have quite a few interesting questions about this unique line of police work.

Saturday night on C2C proper, Art Bell will have Stephan A. Schwartz on to talk about consciousness and water. Now, I don't want to come off as a whiner, but I'm getting a little worn out from all these consciousness guests. I recall some good stuff from Schwartz last time he was around, so this may turn out to be better than I expect.

Sunday night on Coast, Art welcomes Prof. Peter Ward to talk about oxygen and evolution. Classic C2C guest material ... find two random things, stick them together, add hypothesis, talk for three hours (see Saturday night's topic as well). Seriously, though, Ward sounds like a pretty studious guy and I have a sinking suspicion that he's got some interesting facts up his sleeve that will wow both Art and the audience.

Monday night, The Noor returns from another weekend of book tour duty to present Pete Siegel on the program to talk about "Peak Performance", which is apparently some vague notion of luck and motivation (or something like that). I keep thinking he's talking about where I used to get my hair cut, but that was actually called "Command Performance".

Anyway, I'm leery of this Siegel guy, because he seems to be cut from the Tony Robbins mold and his website just reeks of late '90's infomercial garbage talk like "The truth is, success – solid, commanding success - really is a “secret”—until you find the right system that works for you." (That's a direct quote from his website.) Hmm, sign me up, Mr. Siegel.

I'm setting myself up to look like a fool, in some ways, because I'm willing to bet that Siegel has boatloads of charisma and I'll end up captivated by his schtick much like I was with the Salad Shooter. Next week, I'll end up preaching from the pulpit of "Peak Performance", just watch.

Oddly enough, C2C has announced that Richard C. Hoagland will be on 1st hour on Monday. The odd part is that it seems like forever and a day since Hoagland's pop-in appearances were deemed worthy of note in the C2C schedule. Anyway, Hoags has a "startling moon artifact photo" and he'll reveal all on Monday, 1st hour. Sounds like vintage Hoags and I'm all about it.

Tuesday proves a thesis of mine that I'd hoped would never come true. I knew that somewhere in this zany esoteric world that there had to be someone who would have dinosaurs as his focus and that eventually Noory and company would find him. Enter Dennis Swift, who has done some research on the Nazca lines and says that dinos and humans lived together at one point (kind of like the Flintstones). I expect this to be a pretty good to great episode, especially since Noory seems to have a fascination with dinosaurs to an almost hilarious degree.

Wednesday on Coast, David Pitkin is the guest, the topic is ghosts. Just in time for Halloween, me thinks. Pitkin has a specialization of New York ghosts, so I expect some good to great anecdotes and ghost stories. Should be solid.

Thursday, The Noor finishes out the formal week with Barry Conrad, documentary filmmaker, who will be discussing paranormal documentary films. Apparently, he's researched quite a few different paranormal phenomena, so he'll be covering a lot of bases. Dark horse episode, could be quite good, could be awful. I'm leaning towards the first option, since Conrad seems to be more than an esoteric neophyte.

So, all in all, it looks like a pretty decent week ahead. Nice mix of topics, without too much overkill of one niche.

BoA : Audio

This Week : Paul Kimball (Part 2 of 2). More of our discussion on some of the problems with Ufology today. Kimball talks about the "Condon Effect", how to generate interest in Ufology, why Paul doesn't see a "grand conspiracy" behind the UFO phenomenon, Ufology on the Internet, and why more young people aren't gravitating toward studying the UFO phenomenon, a preview of Paul's cattle mutilation film and his next UFO film. Plus, tons more.

His website is redstarfilms.blogspot.com

Next Week : Dennis Spaulding, co-author of "My Search for the Afterlife". Dennis Spaulding comes to BoA : Audio to tell us the story of how he lost his son, how it awakened an interest in searching for afterlife answers, and how his son helped guide him from beyond. Amongst the topics discussed are numeric codes from beyond the grave, animal messages, dreams and visions, mediums, and tons more.

Letter #1

Hi, great show. Just wondering if you could try and get Timothy Good (Above Top Secret) the UK UFO researcher to do an interview with you. If you do get a chance to interview him could you please ask him about Berwyn Mountain Incident of 1974 (Also known as the Welsh Roswell).

Kind regards from Richard, Swansea, Wales, UK

Another UK BoA : Audio listener ! Yes ! I'm always thrilled to hear from our international readers / listeners.

I am pretty familiar with Tim Good from his appearances on C2C and Rense. I've not read his book, yet, but it is currently en route to BoA : HQ. If I were a betting man, I'd say we may have him on the show sometime in '07. (Provided he is available for the show.) Should we be able to get him on the show, I guarantee I'll ask him about the Berwyn Mountain Incident and I'll be sure to credit you for the question.

Letter #2 :

binnall,

Have you read Worker in the Light yet ?

Gene in St. Louis, MO

Actually, Gene, I have been so busy lately that I haven't had much of a chance to read any books, though I am keenly aware of The Noor's tome. I've been monitoring the sales at my local Barnes and Noble and can safely say that there are at least four Noory fans in my midst. Quite frankly, I'm scared.

I did read the first chapter and I found it to be pretty good. The tone is light, conversational, almost like you are listening to Noory, himself. It's a brisk read and, oddly enough, the first chapter is also rather ... ahem ... bizarre. There's a story in there about Noory trying to protect a woman with his black magic mind tricks that has to be read to be believed. Based on the first chapter, I'm looking forward to seeing where he goes from there.

A quick perusal of the index indicates no mention of Sean David Morton or Ed Dames and only one sentence, and a passing reference at that, to Hoagland. So it's got that going for it.

This Week in C2C History

10.13.2005 : Winner of the Coastie for Alt. History episode of the year, it was Peter Lavenda on C2C one year ago tonight. Here's what I had to say about this episode the day after it aired, "I had high hopes for Peter Lavenda on Thursday, but was slightly chagrined, through no fault of Lavenda, whose research into the occult is awesome. I thought Noory was hampered by having to cater the episode to more "casual" esoteric fans, covering previously covered ground (most notably that second half hour, which was like esoterica 101) or asking basic questions that probably didn't tax Levenda much ("what's the story with the 33rd degree of Freemasons"). Otherwise, it was an excellent show when Lavenda could cut loose and really bring out some solid new info. His stuff regarding "the nine" and the "roaming bishops" was awesome." (tbr, 10.14.2005)

10.14.2005 : The beginnings of the infamous "missing Edna Pringle" story from C2C's own JC, "Notorious repeat caller J.C. phoned in with an emergency situation about his associate Edna Pringle, who he claims recently fled the compound with $10,000 in cash. J.C. said she had be acting strange lately and he knew something was wrong when he caught her listening to the Pointer Sisters. J.C. believes she ran away with a Streamlink member, and reported last seeing Edna riding away on the back of a motorcycle. " (c2c.com)

10.14.2003 : A C2C episode for the books, when it comes to bizarre material, "Tuesday's main guest, consultant and author Penny Kelly shared her story of meeting with a group of elves on her Michigan farm. She explained that she struck up a deal with the creatures, who as nature guardians, would help to increase the grape yield at her vineyards in exchange for her telling the world that elves do indeed exist."
