1.26.7

I warned you last week about it, but now it's come true. Yup. I'm 28 years old today. How gross. Big thanks to everyone who sent along birthday wishes.

Before we kick off the usual madness, I wanted to extend a hearty kudos and congratulations to Michael "Khyron" Brun, who, this past week, marked two years of writing for binnallofamerica.com. He's been more than a contributor to the site, he's also been a great friend, and I'm humbled that he's been with BoA for so long. We're tremendously lucky to have him on the team, so congratulations on two years of stellar work, K-Man, and thank you !!

We've got a pretty jam packed edition here of the weekly revue, starting with my look back at the past week of Coast to Coast AM, including my unvarnished take on the Rosslyn Chapel double guest debacle. From there, we'll journey ahead in time to look at next week's C2C offerings, including Charles Seife's historic second consecutive weekend appearance. Moving along, I'll give you the lowdown on BoA : Audio, including details on our return, when you'll know what guests will be appearing and who will be the guest for our big return episode. I'm going to dig into the binnall report mailbag to tackle the nagging question of why Noory hasn't had me on C2C yet. Following that, we'll slip into the C2C vault for a look back at the time Noory admitted to petting a monkey. And, of course, we'll wrap it all up with Hot Newz, this week featuring Noorystar Galactica.

So as you can see, we've got a lot to cover. I'm already stuffed with birthday cake, now it's time to unwrap the presents. Shall we begin ?

The Week That Was

If you told me at the end of the month of January that R. Gary Patterson would be second only to Richard C. Hoagland for most C2C appearance in a year, I'd have called you a liar. But, strangely enough, that is the score as RGP made his third appearance of '07, this time as the Friday night pop-in with The Noor. As is the case with most Friday night episodes, I skipped out on this one, but I'm sure RGP brought the goods, as he always does. Standard Friday into Saturday Open Lines followed the pop-in.

Saturday on "Ian", IP got equestrian on us, with James "Jason" Wentworth, who is a horse trapped in a man's body. My delicate sensibilities prevented me from catching this episode, but BoA's Lesley did and she was non-plussed by the whole affair, as noted in her C2C Rewind, "James "Jason" Wentworth the man with a horse soul was the guest. I don't really have any problem believing that Wentworth could have a horse soul, but I didn't find the topic interesting enough for an entire show. Maybe it was because Ian just had a show about people who think they have non-human souls a couple weeks ago." No word on whether or not the topic of man-horse sex came up, but one assumes Ian simply had to "go there". I hope he did and, if so, I'll have to hear that segment, because it would surely be a riot.

Saturday night on C2C proper, Art Bell had a real home run of an episode with Charles Seife, talking about parallel universes and quantum sciences. I turned on the episode, expecting to just sample some of it and then decide it was too boring, but I ended up pretty riveted by the entire interview. Bell was "in the zone" throughout this interview and you could feel it as it all unfolded. Great stuff. So great, in fact, that Bell and Seife are going to try and do it all again next Saturday.

Sunday night, John Jay Harper was the guest and the topic was coming catastrophes. After enjoying so much Bell the previous night, I ended up skipping out on this one to catch up on some BoA : Audio work. No real buzz on it over @ theusofe.com, so I suspect it was overshadowed by the ultra strong Seife episode the previous night.

Monday on Coast, The Noor took a little trip to Rosslyn Chapel with guests Mark Pinkham and Andrew Sinclair. For starters, Sinclair was awesome, reminding me of Lionel Fanthorpe, with lots of insider information and thoughtful answers to sometimes mundane questions. Pinkham, meanwhile, was a blathering, rambling, breathless loon. The difference between the two guests was like night and day, to an almost hilarious degree, if not for the "what could have been" factor. Had Noory booted Pinkham after the first hour, this episode would stand as the definition of "addition by subtraction", but sadly he didn't and, thusly, Pinkham ruined a surefire contender for Alt. History episode of the year honors. Strong episode for Sinclair, weak for Pinkham.

Also, and this was pointed out to me by others as well, Noory must have just gotten a Netflix account or something, because he was dropping movie references left and right. Thankfully, he expanded his cultural reference index from Contact and Close Encounters of the Third Kind to include Braveheart and, later in the week, Under Seige 2 (of all films), so he's caught up to 1995. Way to go, Noor, only 12 more years until you're on par with the rest of us.

I caught bits and pieces of Tuesday night guest Albert Taylor's appearance and what I heard was decent. Noory seemed to dig it and he got to have some fun with the usual Art Bell staple of EVPs, as Taylor brought some to play on the air. Usually, I am impressed by the first few EVPs and then get bored, but these were pretty good. I don't recall much else in the episode but they discussed a variety of demonic related topics, so I'll recommend it for those who dig the spooky episodes.

Wednesday saw C2C's "first lady of prognostication" Glynis McCants join the show. I was fully expecting to skip this one, but I wanted to listen to a bit to hear Glynis, because she is usually pretty amusing. Last week, I predicted that Glynis would say something "inappropriate about her sex life" at "the first half of the middle hour". I was off by one hour, as 25 minutes into the interview, talk turned to how Glynis met her husband and it was Noory who, hilariously enough, said she described herself as a "wild numerologist" and then Glynis, true to form, said, "no the picture said 'wild'". Oh, Glynis, I've got your number.

Worthy of note, during the interview, Noory threw more dirt on the grave of Sylvia Browne by having Glynis "do Sylvia's numbers". The Noor also went on a little rant about how Sylvia's reputation has fallen on hard times and how it all started with her Coaster winning debacle last January on Coast. The Noor rhetorically implored Sylvia to just admit she's wrong sometimes, but Glynis and Noory agreed that she'll probably never do that. I'm very glad to see Noory shun Sylvia, now it's time to take a hard look at SDM and the rest of his ilk, George.

And, wrapping up the week, C2C turned things upside down on Thursday by having Charles Ostman on for the first three hours, instead of waiting until after the first hour. Noory intimated that this wouldn't be the last we'd see of the "reverse schedule" style and it if means "saving" the retarded callers and Hoagland pop-ins until the final hour, I'm all for it.

Anyway, Ostman brought some strong material to the program. Unlike his previous appearances, this episode hinged more on geopolitics than nanotechnology, so I was digging it more than usual. That said, Ostman is really flying under the radar for C2C guests, as he appeared a stunning five times in 2006 and may top that this coming year. I'd call him the C2C workhorse, as you know you'll get a strong episode from him and he can be relied on to return to the show more often than some other one-trick-pony guests. Good episode.

The Week That Is

Noory and company must know it's my birthday, as the usual Friday into Saturday Open Lines is out the window tonight and in its place is a double shot of C2C regulars. First, Linda Moulton Howe guests for the hours one and two, to discuss something weird going on in Tappen, North Dakota. Then, Alex "The Bulldog" Jones will be live, in-studio, for the final two hours. Hardcore C2C fans may recall Noory's last trip to Austin, which saw AJ in-studio and remember that it was a classic. This should be a sweet episode.

Saturday on "Ian", IP has Dr. Les Carter to talk about anger, toxic personalities, and narcissism. I see a lot of opening there for some great Ian one-liners and his usual outside-the-box questions. I'm hearing rumours of a BoA related surprise at some point during Ian, most likely during the 1st hour, as well, but we can't confirm that until after we've heard it. But, you've been forewarned. (Note : Calm down, it is not a binnall pop-in)

Saturday night on C2C proper, Art Bell and Charles Seife make C2C history, to the best of my knowledge, as Seife will be the first ever back-to-back Saturday full episode guest. (Hardcore C2C fans who can recall this happening before, feel free to send in the instance). As noted in the recap, Seife's 1.20.7 appearance was right in Bell's wheelhouse and we'll see if he can make it two in a row with this one. Should it live up to last week's episode, Seife may be the early frontrunner for Alt. Science and overall guest of the year honors in the '07 Coasties.

Sunday night, Dr. Orrin Pilkey is the guest and the topic is "why math is bad". Apparently, dogmatic love of math may have killed all the cod, caused global warming, and left nuclear waste spilling about everywhere. Sounds fascinating. I'm down with any discussion that smashes popular scientific institutions and I'm sure Bell will be all about this off-kilter topic.

Monday night, fresh from Austin, The Noor returns to action with Brent Miller to cover the Horizon Project, some newfangled method of predicting based on computers. Sounds painfully similar to the Merlin Project, but hopefully Noory will get him to explain the differences. Don't be fooled, though, this is yet another prognostication episode.

J. J. Hurtak returns to C2C on Tuesday for a potentially awesome episode. He'll be discussing contemporary UFO stories (the O'Haire story will surely be beaten to death again) and also talk about his days working with Dr. John Mack. That part, in particular, could be fantastic and provide a wealth of historical UFO information, should the opportunity arise for deeper discussion. Let's hope it does.

Wednesday sees Chip Coffey as the guest, with the topic being demonic entities. Sounds spooky. Another potential gem of an episode, depending on what kind of material Coffey brings to the table (no pun intended) and how charismatic he is with his presentation. Should be good and a nice "scary" episode for the week.

The formal week on Coast wraps up with C2C stalwart Dean Radin to discuss intention experiments on Thursday. Radin's appearances are usually highly critically acclaimed, so I expect the usual strong showing here.

BoA : Audio, Season Two

I've been saying for the past couple of weeks that I've had the feeling that we were about a week behind where we wanted to be for the return of BoA : Audio. And, as our planned return got closer and closer, that feeling never quite went away.

So ... I've decided to call a last minute audible and reset the return date for BoA : Audio to 2.3.7 (i.e. next Saturday).

Luckily for us, we aren't beholden to any corporate entities and can pretty much make the rules up as we go along. And, we're committed to providing quality stuff and would rather take our time, catch up to where we should be, and produce strong esoteric radio instead of being forced to half ass it in order to make a deadline which we set up in the first place.

As such, the schedule now looks like this ...

1.27.7 :: BoA : Audio second half teaser, featuring a sampling of some of our upcoming guests.

1.31.7 :: Full schedule for February unveiled @ binnallofamerica.com.

2.3.7 (Next Saturday) :: John Greenewald (Part 1 of 2)

The creator of blackvault.com and Ufology's great young hope, John Greenewald comes to BoA : Audio for an extended conversation. In our first installment, we'll be discussing blackvault.com, it's massive document archive, the ins and outs of the FOIA, the government's reaction to John's work, and tons more regarding the esoteric institution known as blackvault.com.

His website is, of course, blackvault.com

So be sure to join us next week when we kick off the second half of underground esoteric radio known to those in the know as BoA : Audio.

Tim, what are the chances of you being a first hour drop-in on Coast any time in the near future, is this already in the works? You've definitely come up enough ... in fact your quickly becoming a "name".

Or does the Noor see you as competition?

Thanks,

James Archer-Payne

Tacoma, WA

Ah, good question, James.

Based on the now-historic Noory-binnall summit, it appears that The Noor is down with binnall. So, I've no doubt that if I really made an effort, a C2C appearance could happen. Hell, they've given airtime to much worse people (in the last week, no less).

But, conflicts abound. For starters, part of what makes BoA different is that we are somewhat "underground". You have to be kind of hardcore to find us and even more so to understand us. Is the mainstream C2C listener ready for binnall ?

Which brings us to another conundrum ... the binnall report covers C2C. If binnall appears on C2C, does that somehow tear the space-time continuum ? I don't know the answer to that question and, quite frankly, it scares me.

I predicted a binnall / C2C appearance @ the end of 2005 for 2006 and it never happened. Looking back, it's for the best as the timing wasn't right. As it stands now, looking ahead, I couldn't see it coming about until much later on this year, Autumn perhaps. Based on present events, I think it will coincide with the evolution of the BoA brand beyond our Audio series and into future endeavors.

This Week in C2C History

1.27.2006 : Only on C2C Friday night Open Lines, "Regular caller Sulayman phoned in to tell George that he received a prophetic vision of the Challenger's demise the day before it happened. According to Sulayman, he prayed for its safety but a reptilian entity identified as Satan appeared and told him that he had plans to destroy the shuttle and take four of the astronauts." (c2c.com)

1.24.2005 : Paola Harris and Charles Hall joined the show to talk about the Tall White ET story that was making waves at the time in esoterica. It was mostly Hall telling his story about working with ETs and Noory trying to wrap his head around it all, including this classic exchange, chronicled in the binnall report :

It happened 9 minutes and 30 seconds into Hour 3 .

Hall : "You know how like, when I go to the zoo, I never want to touch a gorilla. And I doubt the gorilla ever wants to touch me."

Noory : "Yeah, but you would pet ... um ... a little monkey. You'd pet a puppy."

Hall : "Mmm, I never have pet a monkey, okay."

Noory : "I, I, I have"

Wow. It doesn't get any better than that.
