About 15 minutes into the first hour of this Saturday night's Coast to Coast AM, I took to theusofe.com message board to post my thoughts. Strangely, before I could submit the post, I found myself responding to the show as it was playing out. And thus ... Saturday Night Punnett was born. SNP will serve as a running time commentary on the first hour of each Saturday's Coast to Coast AM, as long as Ian Punnett is holding court as host. No time for hindsight, reflection, or looking back, just a fly by the seat of your pants view of C2C for 40 plus minutes with Ian Punnett.
Before you bombard me with queries, the reason SNP only covers the first hour of the Saturday night show is twofold. Firstly, doing a running time commentary on a four hour show is too much strain on the vessel that is BoA. We're overstretched on manhours alone. Secondly, the final 3 hours of Saturday night are with a guest and they don't have that spontaneous madness that can only occur in the first hour. In order to scratch beneath the surface of who is Ian Punnett, we must rely on that all important Open Line first hour, which is a no holds barred arena where many nuggets to the mysteries of Punnett can be found.
In the weeks and months to come as Ian settles into his Saturday night spot, we hope to have SNP along for the ride (in the 1st hour at least) for the times we laugh and the times we cry. 1000 apologies for what may be a lackluster first effort, but for the purposes of history we feel the need to publish the first edition of SNP which is in essence a snapshot of its birth. Enjoy.

So I'm trying to listen to Punnett so far. He's been good. I really enjoyed his response to the hate mail. Tho, didn't he say it was from a lady named "Barbra" ? You don't think ...
I liked how he responded to the Illuminati lady, the lady who claimed to have been healed by the C2C caller, the Bigfoot dude who spent most of his call fretting over his lack of remaining time (the dolt).
Oh boy and this guy calling right after the "hate mail" break, just said "ananooki" (meaning annunaki). Damn. I would dump him right then and there and chastise him for making such a foolish mispronounciation. Hmm, he got it right the 2nd time.
Felix is in Pennsylvania ... knows a Muslim from Maine. He thinks that the US will someday become a muslim country. Ah, this is an anti-immigration caller.
Punnett has a diplomatic response. He compares the oppression of Irish, Jews, etc. as the same as fear of Muslims infiltrating the US. Wow, smart response from Punnett. Nice, after a long diatribe by Ian, the caller is still there. They're having a dialogue, sweet.
IP's final analysis ... Islam is at a cross roads.
East of the Rockies ... Roger from Cleveland, Ohio. He wants a favor from Ian and the listeners and asks for them be thankful for everything.
Yikes, Ian sounds like a suicide hotline operator.
Roger says he's bipolar and manic depressive. Ouch, poor Roger. He's talking about how he's getting help. Ian salutes his taking that first step.
Oh, Roger's gone. That's probably not good.
Some dude named Richard is on now. He's coming in real faint and rambling about all sorts of gibberish and terrorism. He says we need to stop the war on drugs. I get him now. He wants drugs legalized, which in hindsight explains his erratic behaviour. He calls Ian "Heaven on Earth". Yes, caller of the night.
Ian says some drugs are bad for you. He agrees that the illegal drug running is fueling dangerous factions. He cites difficulty in controlling an international trade industry.
Sulimon (sp ?) is an American living in Canada and is going to take us a "zone" of some sort. He apologizes for the hate mail. He salutes Ian. Good stuff, Sulimon seems cool. Ian says that being hated by the haters is "the least I can do for them". Aw shucks.
Odd. Sulimon drifts out and into an odd voice. End of call.
Ian doesn't know what to say about that and he throws it to some Aerosmith to end the top hour and get ready for guest Jason Martell.
Good first hour, interesting calls. Ian didn't annoy me in the least and he mentioned his pipe for the 2nd consecutive week, scoring points with me. His "automated" response to the hate mail was golden.
