Coastie Votes & Thoughts

These are not the winners, merely who binnall voted for. Ballot cast 12.15.4

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

Episode of the Year : 4.22.4, Roundtable I

Toughest call to make perhaps. 5.15.4 ("Mallove is Dead") and 7.21.4 (Great UFO Debate) nearly edged it out, but Roundtable I had the benefit of 4 guests and 5 hours to really shape itself into the best episode of the year. "The Sister Lucia" debacle was perhaps the most noteworthy episode of C2C in 2004, but was severly lacking quality-wise.

Guest of the Year : Alex Jones

The best stand-alone guest on C2C all year was by far Alex Jones. Jones brought a frenzied quality to the show as well as an air of dangerousness sorely lacking at times in 2004. Honorable mention goes out to Richard C. Hoagland for sheer number of appearances, but, far too often, they were hampered by first hour spots.

Theme Episode of the Year : 7.21.4, Great UFO Debate

No other theme episode this year followed as rigid a format as "The Great UFO Debate". The concept of "rounds" and voting by the listeners added a competitive atmosphere to the show. Roundtable I deserves honorable mention for setting the standard for Roundtable episodes.

C2C Regular of the Year : Richard C. Hoagland

30 appearances in 2004 locks up the award for RCH. No one does it better. Honorable mention to Steven Quayle who put up a good fight for most appearances but got turfed in the end by Sir Hoagy. What's even more amazing is that in the time between I cast this ballot and when I'm posting it, RCH logged 3 more appearances.

Newcomer of the Year : 3.11.4, Alex Jones

Alex Jones debuts in March and goes on to appear in two theme episodes and looks to become somewhat of a C2C regular in-the-making. Michael Tsarion & Jordan Maxwell were the only two other debuts to make nearly as much of an impression.

TOPIC AWARDS

Alt.Science Episode of the Year : 2.3.4, Eugene Mallove (Cold Fusion)

Few spoke with as much passion and knowledge for his area of expertise as Eugene Mallove. The Near Death Experience of a blind woman was possibly second for sheer strangeness.

Conspiracy Episode of the Year : 4.22.4, Roundtable I : Secret Societies

Gave most information and most interesting sidebars of all conspiracy episodes. Honorable mention to Jordan Maxwell and David Icke for their stellar appearances as well.

Ghost Episode of the Year : 2.7.4, Brendan Cook & Barbra McBeth

No other ghost episode is as credible or eerie as the EVPs from the Utah duo. Ghost to Ghost AM gets honorable mention, but was hampered by the ancient EVPs for the first half of the episode.

Outstanding Accheivement in the Field of Cryptozoology : 8.2.4, Loren Coleman

When it comes to cryptozoology, Loren Coleman is the standard bearer. His depth of expertise in a variety of species makes him the most reference worthy speaker on the subject. His appearance was bolstered by having to rebuff George Noory's repeated attempts to get him to affirm that dinosaurs are still alive somwhere.

Prognosticator of the Year : 1.15.4, Fr. Andrew Wingate

No matter who they are, prognosticators always draw a large amount of bile from a variety of circles in esoterica. Fr. Wingate seemed least tarnished of them all and most creepy.

UFO Episode of the Year : 7.21.4, Great UFO Debate

An episode I listened to about 4 times over the course of 2 days. Just amazing stuff. Honorable mention to Peter Davenport's appearance in January and John Lear in March.
